Southwest Airlines Faces New Controversy

Southwest Airlines has been the subject of many negative headlines over the past few weeks after ending its longstanding policy of free checked baggage for customers, and the company faced a new controversy this week after a blind teenager called out the airline for the way she was treated by flight attendants.

In a now-viral video on TikTok, 19-year-old Maddy Kolb absolutely blasted Southwest Airlines as she revealed that she was reduced to tears due to "hostility" that she claims she received from staff members.

"I am legally blind, I'm a white cane user, and I have meet and assist with Southwest," Kolb recounted in a now-viral TikTok video. "I have pre-board with Southwest, I have blind stamped on all of my boarding passes."

"I usually have an escort that takes me through to the gate, the gate agent helps me board the plane first, flight attendants help me find a seat and put up my carry-ons, and then meet and assist helps me with layovers and getting to baggage claim," Kolb told The Daily Mail.

This time, however, things did not go smoothly for her.

Kolb was flying to Hartford, Connecticut, from her hometown of Dallas, Texas. Kolb was put on a flight that had a layover in Tampa, an airport that she had never been to before.

Due to inclement weather, the airline rebooked flights for Kolb and all the other passengers, resulting in Kolb spending six hours in the Tampa airport. Eventually, Kolb was booked on a flight to Hartford that went through Baltimore and was told by ground staff to inform the flight attendants that her connecting flight was leaving shortly after they landed so she could be taken straight there.

"[I was told] they were going to wait for me, due to my blindness... they were going to hold the plane for me," she said.

However, when she got on the flight, the flight attendant was not willing to help her, despite her disability. In fact, Kolb claims that the flight attendant told her that she was "not special," and it "doesn't matter that I had a flight to get to."

Despite another flight attendant trying to intervene to help the situation, Kolb claims the flight attendant even made an announcement telling the whole plane exactly what she told Kolb.

Kolb said that she cried for the "entire 90-minute flight."

"That is the first time I've had a flight attendant speak to me in a way that was negative," she said.

Things did not improve for Kolb when she landed in Baltimore. Her flight landed in Baltimore at around midnight, but her flight to Hartford did not take off until the following morning.

Even though she had to wait over nine hours overnight for her next flight, Kolb was told that Southwest would not compensate her for a hotel – even though she was told in Tampa that the airline would cover a hotel for her – and she was told that she should "sleep on the floor," despite her disability.

"I have a disability, they knew I have a disability, and I was to sleep on the floor," she said.

To make matters worse, the staff was unable to find her bag, determining that it had been put on a plane to Hartford.

After her father booked her a hotel himself, Kolb boarded the plane the next morning and eventually made it to Hartford and found her bag. However, she says that she does not think she will fly on Southwest again, calling the experience "very detrimental" to her mental health.

Kolb did post a follow-up video where she said that Southwest has since contacted her to offer her full compensation for the hotel and any money spent on food while her flight was delayed. However, that does not necessarily address Kolb's primary concern in its first video.

"My current issue with Southwest is the hostility I received from that flight attendant and the customer service agent," she said.

In addition to backlash from its decision to end its policy of free bags, Southwest is also facing a lawsuit from a former employee.

Barack Obama Makes Rare Admission About Marriage With Michelle

Barack and Michelle Obama have been in the news as of late with rumors about their marriage. The Obamas, who were married in October 1992, started getting hit with divorce rumors after Barack went to some political events alone, including former President Jimmy Carter's funeral and President Trump's inauguration.

Now, Barack Obama, 63, has made a rare public statement about his marriage to Michelle, and it's candid.

"I was in a deep deficit with my wife," Barack told Hamilton College President Steven Tepper during a talk April 3, according to the Daily Beast.

"So I have been trying to dig myself out of that hole by doing occasionally fun things," he added.

Barack had previously opened up about how being the president of the United States made it difficult to have quality time with Michelle. Barack served in the White House from 2009 to 2017, so that's a large chunk of time.

"Let me just say this: It sure helps to be out of the White House and to have a little more time with her," he said in an interview on CBS Mornings back in 2023.

Michelle has also talked about how Barack being president made their personal life difficult, speaking out about how the years Barack was both president and rising to political stardom made it so she really had to focus on raising their daughters, Sasha and Malia.

In a 2022 interview with Revolt TV, she said, "There were 10 years where I couldn't stand my husband."

She also added that their "marriage isn't 50/50 — ever, ever" and that "there are times I'm 70, he's 30. There are times he's 60, [I'm] 40. But guess what? Ten years — we've been married 30 — I would take 10 bad years over 30. It's just how you look at it."

On Valentine's Day, Michelle also shared a photo of the couple on Instagram with the caption, "If there's one person I can always count on, it's you, @BarackObama. You’re my rock. Always have been."

Southwest Airlines Faces Major Lawsuit

After making negative headlines last month for controversially eliminating its policy of free checked baggage for customers, Southwest Airlines is now facing a major lawsuit.

Former Southwest Airlines flight attendant Bianca Hughley is suing the Dallas-based airline for $5 million after she was terminated during her probationary period. The lawsuit claims that Southwest violated the Railway Labor Act, which governs work rules within the aviation industry.

Hughley landed a job with Southwest Airlines in late 2021 when the airline opened up flight attendant recruitment for just four hours on a random November day as the company was trying to rebuild its workforce following the pandemic, according to the lawsuit filing, obtained by PYOK.

After landing the job, Hughley then had to pass an intensive training course and get through the probationary period of her employment, which is where things went wrong for her as her employment was terminated during her probationary period.

It's not clear why Hughley was fired, but in the lawsuit, she argues that Southwest Airlines and the flight attendant union failed to honor her rights under the Railway Labor Act.

In the lawsuit, Hughley argues that she should have had the right to file a grievance against the disciplinary proceedings that the airline brought against her. However, she was not given that opportunity.

Hughley estimates that she would have been earning about $40,000 a year as a junior Southwest flight attendant, which means that she lost out on more than $100,000 as a result of her termination.

Hughley is seeking $5 million in damages. She also wants to be reinstated to her previous job as a flight attendant with the airline.

We'll have to see how the lawsuit plays out for Southwest Airlines and Hughley.

The #1 Trending Trailer on YouTube is a Mind-Blowing Disney Throwback

One of the most groundbreaking sci-fi movies of the 1980s was, without a doubt, the original Tron, one of Disney's riskiest projects ever. Before 1982, no movie had ever incorporated animated video game-style visuals into a live-action cinematic experience. In 2010, Tron: Legacy rebooted the concept and brought us back to a new version of the virtual reality world inside of a vast computer network. And now, the number one trending movie trailer on YouTube is the first big preview for Tron: Ares, the upcoming third film in the saga.

Right away, this trailer will blow away longtime fans of the series. Why? Well, this time, the familiar Light Cycles from the Grid are blazing a trail in the real world. Watch the exciting trailer right here:

How or why digital programs from the Grid have entered the real world remains to be seen, but, we do know that the film will see the return of Jeff Bridges as Flynn, a video game designer who was sent into the digital world in the first movie. The movie also stars Jared Leto as the titular "Ares," a program who is sent into the real world along with whoever else is attacking humankind.

The trailer also reveals Greta Lee's character Eve Kim, who plays a programmer who will form a partnership with Leto's Ares. The trailer also features the first taste of the film's soundtrack. While the 2010 film was famously scored by Daft Punk, Tron: Ares will feature new music from Nine Inch Nails.

Tron: Ares hits theaters on October 10, 2025.

'The Boys' Jensen Ackles Issues Warning About 'Vought Rising' Spin-off Series

Since its inception in mid-2019, Amazon Prime’s The Boys has captivated fans with unparalleled plot twists and surprising series finales. However, with season five on the horizon, the topic of “what’s next” for fans of the series was thankfully answered already.

After it was announced that the upcoming season would be the final one for The Boys, news of the spin-off, a prequel called Vought Rising, generated plenty of buzz.

Although the new show isn't expected to debut until late 2026 or early 2027, Vought Rising will feature two noteworthy names as headliners. Soldier Boy and Clara Vought (Stormfront), played by Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash are centerpieces of the new series, which is based in the 1950s.

Ackles recently joined the Supernatural Then and Now podcast to discuss The Boys and Vought Rising, giving a warning of sorts about the future show.

"As far as Vought goes, I think people have an idea of what to expect. But in true Kripke world, he loves to give you what you want in a way you don't expect it," Ackles said.

In the above comments, Ackles cited Eric Kripke, the creator of The Boys and executive producer of Vought Rising.

Considering the endless number of curveballs from the popular current show, paired with Ackles teasing the unexpected in Vought Rising, fans should gear up for what should be a great follow-up to The Boys.

Ana de Armas Deeply Regrets Telling Keanu Reeves This 1 Thing

Ana de Armas has nothing but wonderful things to say about Keanu Reeves, her co-star in Eli Roth’s Knock Knock and the upcoming John Wick spinoff Ballerina. But she admittedly embarrassed herself the first time she met the Hollywood superstar.

On Thursday night, the 36-year-old actress was in Las Vegas to accept CinemaCon’s Action Star of the Year Award,” which she clearly felt she owed partly to her work with Reeves. As The Hollywood Reporter writers, she recalled the story of their first meeting more than a decade ago, when they co-starred in Eli Roth’s thriller Knock Knock.

“I met him when I barely spoke English,” said the Oscar nominee. “I met Keanu for the first time in Santiago de Chile at lunch with the filmmakers of Knock Knock, our first movie together. We were sitting across from each other on the table, and I was really nervous, as you are when you’re in front of Keanu Reeves. I couldn’t talk to him much because I was so self-conscious about my English and I was really struggling and really trying hard to follow the conversation.”

In fact, she was trying so hard to follow along that she wasn’t sure what the group was talking about when they brought up Reeves’ role in The Matrix.

“He looked at me and asked me if I had seen it. And I was like, The Matrix? No,’” de Armas recounted. “Everyone at the table was shocked, so someone came to me and told me in Spanish. ‘You haven’t seen La Matrix?’ I was, like, oh La Matrix. Yeah, I have seen that one.”

While it would be easy to chalk that misunderstanding up to nerves and a title getting lost in translation, de Armas insists the moment “will never not be embarrassing.”

De Armas and Reeves will share the screen once again when Ballerina arrives in theaters on June 6, 2025.

Reporter's Video With 7-Foot-9 Basketball Player Turns Heads Before Final Four of NCAA Tournament

The Florida Gators are just over an hour from tip against a familiar foe in the Auburn Tigers, whom the Gators have already beaten this season: 90-81 in a regular season battle.

Ahead of the rematch, head coach Todd Golden knows his team can find success against the Tigers in the Final Four and punch their ticket to the national title game.

“I think the same reason why I’ve had success all year is why we’ll be okay. Being here, this being the first time — we have a very mature group. Very unselfish group. Guys that are very driven,” Golden said when asked why he believes his team can win the rematch.

“You look at the way we played all year, we’ve been a very consistent team. We’ve always been able to bounce back from losses the right way, make sure we get back to who we are and playing well. I think we’ve won 10 in a row coming into this event.

“Our guys are not going to be satisfied going home Saturday night. I think going in, the mentality is that — obviously it will be a great season regardless, but if we lose on Saturday, we’ll have a bad taste in our mouths."

Ahead of the game all of the attention was on 7-foot-9 big man Olivier Rioux who towered over reporter John Fanta in a new video.

The comments section was flooded with reactions of fans in disbelief at his size.

"10/10 opening pan from the camera operator," one person said with a laughing emoji.

"Jon, it was disrespectful of you to sit in a chair while he had to stand," joked another.

"Can’t fool me that’s AI using Andre the Giants voice," added another.

Auburn and Florida tip off at 6:09 p.m. ET on CBS.

'Avengers: Doomsday' Star's Admission Shows Marvel Is Being More Cautious Than Ever

From the early returns coming to light about the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday film, Marvel seems to once again be doing its best to avoid letting literally anything about the movie leak to the public.

While this has been common practice for Marvel ahead of their releases, the attempt to keep a lengthy list of high-profile actors like this quiet is surely even tougher than normal. Based on the latest comments by a new star addition to the Marvel world, Florence Pugh, the studio is prepared to go as far as not even giving scripts out the day before filming.

During an interview with ET Now, Pugh and David Harbour, who are set to star in the upcoming MCU film Thunderbolts*, spoke about their inclusion in Avengers: Doomsday.

According to both Pugh and Harbour, neither had received a script to read yet, which they admitted the day before filming was set to begin.

Florence Pugh and David Harbour can’t be trusted with any MCU secrets. 😭  Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts*’ hits theaters May 2! pic.twitter.com/0QEixN1ldv

— Entertainment Tonight (@etnow) April 4, 2025

Pugh jokingly asked Harbour if he thinks they don't have scripts "because they don't trust us." This led to some sarcastic banter, with Harbour candidly admitting that he doesn't know how Marvel gets everyone to remain tight-lipped about the films.

Whether Pugh and Harbour knew something about the film during the interview or not, both passed their initial test of avoiding giving away spoilers with flying colors.

Pugh and Harbour will team up with Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen and others in Thunderbolts*, which is set to be released on May 2, 2025.
