National Drugstore Chain May Close Stores Over Bankruptcy Woes

A beloved drugstore chain may split into pieces over its bankruptcy woes and might lose more stores.

According to Bloomberg, Rite Aid is preparing to "sell itself in pieces" as it prepares for a second bankruptcy.

Rite Aid recently emerged from a first bankruptcy filing, Bloomberg reported, but is now running "low on cash."

The retailer is seeking a "debtor-in-possession loan," according to Bloomberg.

This may result in "some locations in certain regions" being sold to bidders, Bloomberg reported.

According to Bloomberg, the company's creditors "faced steep losses from a second bankruptcy filing."

The chain has been missing rent payments for some Long Island stores, according to Long Island Business News.

That may result in some store closures, the site reported, noting, "landlords here are preparing for the chain to shrink again or possibly disappear altogether."

Rite Aid had 4,000 stores 30 years ago but is now down to 1,400, according to Long Island Business News.

About 800 stores shut their doors as a result of the 2023 bankruptcy filing, according to The Independent, which reported that the new financial woes may result in another round of closures.

According to The Independent, Walgreens and CVS are also closing some stores.

Rite Aid is struggling because of higher interest rates and customers tightening their belts on purchases, according to Fast Company.

The company has not announced any further closures or confirmed a second bankruptcy filing, despite the Bloomberg report.

Oregon Live reported on April 23, 2025, however, that Rite-Aid was closing another Portland store.

"Over the past year, Rite Aid cut its footprint nearly in half," Oregon Live reported.

Virginia Giuffre Dead: What Was Her Cause of Death?

Virginia Giuffre, the woman who made accusations against Prince Andrew as part of the Jeffrey Epstein case, is dead, according to NBC News.

What was her cause of death? According to NBC News, Giuffre died by suicide. The network attributed the information to a statement from her family.

News broke of her death on April 25, 2025.

"It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia," her family said in a statement provided to NBC News. "She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking."

"Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors," the statement said. “In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight."

According to NBC News, Giuffre was only 41 years old and died in Australia.

One of Jeffrey Epstein's alleged victims, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, right, speaks at a news conference following a hearing where Epstein's alleged victims made statements in Manhattan Federal Court on Aug. 27, 2019, in New York.

Her death came after she had posted a disturbing statement on social media in which she claimed she was injured in an accident with a school bus and had only four days to live. She appeared to be bruised in the photo that accompanied the statement.

A post shared by Virginia Roberts (@virginiarobertsrising11)

On March 30, she posted the disturbing photo to Instagram and wrote. "This year has been the worst start to a new year, but I won’t bore anyone with the details but I think it important to note that when a school bus driver comes at you driving 110km as we were slowing for a turn that no matter what your car is made of it might as well be a tin can."

She continued, "I’ve gone into kidney renal failure, they’ve given me four days to live, transferring me to a specialist hospital in urology. I’m ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time, but you know what they say about wishes. S**T in one hand and wish in the other & I guarantee it’s still going to be s**t at the end of the day. Thank you all for being the wonderful people of the world and for being a great part of my life. Godbless you all xx Virginia 😔🙏🦋"

Giuffre was a prominent accuser of Prince Andrew, who denied the Epstein-related allegations but stepped back from a public role after they emerged. A well-known photo emerged that purported to show Giuffre with the prince and Epstein's associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

The other circumstances of Giuffre's death were not yet clear.

Her Instagram profile reads, "Pursuit of justice doesn’t stop with Epstein-the elites who trafficked me and so many others are going down-the house of cards will begin to fall. 🦋"

Deion Sanders Breaks His Silence on Shedeur Sanders Draft Fall

Deion Sanders once predicted that his son, former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, would be a top-five pick in the NFL Draft. Needless to say, he was disappointed by what happened on Thursday night.

Not only did Shedeur fall outside of the first five picks of the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday night, but he actually fell out of the first round completely, going undrafted on the first night of the draft.

This was undoubtedly disappointing for the Sanders family, but Deion offered a classy response as he broke his silence on the matter on Friday morning.

"My bible says God uses the foolish things to confound the wise & he chose the weak things of the world that he may put to shame the strong! Please know God ain't done & God is just really getting started. Enjoy this lesson & stop stressing," Deion wrote in a post on X on Sunday morning.

— COACH PRIME (@DeionSanders) April 25, 2025

Shedeur had a pretty classy response to the slide, as well.

"We all didn't expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything possible, everything possible. I don't feel like this happened for no reason," Shedeur said after going undrafted in the first round of the draft.

"All of this is, of course, fuel to the fire. Under no circumstances did we all know this was going to happen, but we understand we on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow's the day. We going to be happy regardless. Legendary," he continued

While Shedeur may have fallen out of the first round, he is certainly expected to be selected on the second day of the draft, which includes the second and third rounds.

We'll have to see where Shedeur ultimately ends up after this unexpected slide down the draft boards this week.

Benny Blanco Turns Heads With Major Move For Selena Gomez

Record producer Benny Blanco is turning heads for all the right reasons this week after he made a sweet gesture for his superstar fiancée, Selena Gomez.

In a post to Instagram this week, Blanco revealed that Selena, whom he became engaged to back in December, did not have the opportunity to attend a prom back in high school. So he wanted to give her at least a taste of that experience.

“My fiancé has never been to prom before,” he explained in text in the video he shared this week.

“So I asked her if we should take prom photos together at a mall,” he continued. “She said yes!”

In the video, Selena can be seen getting her hair and makeup done by her glam team while he stood by waiting in his tuxedo. Blanco even rented a limo for them to travel in to complete the experience.

Selena walked down the stairs in her dress, just like she would have if he was picking her up to take her to the prom, and they got in the limo to go take the photos.

Blanco then shared a slideshow of all the vintage-looking prom photos they took together, writing that "It was more fun than either of us expected it to be."

View the original article to see embedded media.

Needless to say, fans loved the heartwarming gesture from Blanco.

"Omg!!!! He is so good to her," one fan wrote in the comments.

"Selena getting the love she deserve is healing me somehow," someone else added.

"benny blanco you are the greenest flag to ever exist," another fan commented.

"We can’t calm down over this," another comment read.

"can all men take notes please," someone else wrote.

"And rest of men can’t even buy flowers.." another person added.

Clearly, Blanco did something right.

Meet the Wife of NFL Draft Hopeful Quarterback Tyler Shough

Former Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough is expected to find out his NFL draft fate in the second or third round on Friday night, but he's not the only one football fans are paying attention to.

Shough's wife, Jordan Wormdahl Shough, is a talented athlete herself having played forward on the University of Oregon soccer team. She spoke about the impact athletics had on her life, thanks to her parents' influence.

"My mom and dad were both college athletes, so it was just what you did in my family," she told Women in Flight in May 2023. "My mom was a soccer player and a coach. I took my first steps on the soccer field which sounds so cliche, but it's actually what happened. So, it's been in my blood, it's what you do in my family."

A post shared by Jordan Shough (@jordanshough)

The couple met and began dating while at Oregon together, but he didn't stay there. Tyler Shough began his NCAA career at Weber State before he college-hopped from Oregon to Texas Tech and finally, Louisville. After Jordan graduated from Oregon in 2022, Tyler proposed to her.

"FOR LIFE," Tyler Shough wrote on his Instagram page on May 13, 2022. "I love you so much. I can’t wait to marry you."

A post shared by Jordan Shough (@jordanshough)

The duo made it official in April 2024 with a wedding in La Jolla, CA. Jordan described it as "the best day of our lives" in a social. Media post sharing their wedding video. Even though they got married, Tyler still had his NCAA career to finish up at Louisville.

While the couple has enjoyed personal milestones in the past two years, the NFL draft is going to be a big professional moment in his career. For Jordan, that also means moving to a new city where a community of WAGS will await her.

DeWalt's 'Powerful' but 'Quiet' Shop Vac With 'Seriously Impressive' Suction Power Is Over 30% Off on Amazon

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Not every vacuum cleaner is created equal. A handheld vacuum you use to suck up crumbs from your car floor is useless when it comes to getting sawdust, dirty water, and other more serious messes to go away. For the latter, you’ll need a dedicated wet/dry shop vacuum like this DeWalt model Amazon just marked down by 33%.

Normally $200, the DeWalt 5-Gallon Stealthsonic Shop Vacuum is just $133 right now. That’s big savings on a vacuum that’s earned 43 five-star ratings (out of 53 total) and reviews calling it “quiet” and “easy to maneuver" with “plenty of power.” It comes with a full suite of accessories, including two extension wands, a washable cartridge filter, a disposable dust bag, multiple attachments, and a bag to hold everything.

“I was genuinely surprised at how quiet it is for a shop vac,” wrote one reviewer. “There's no need for ear protection or worrying about waking up the whole house.” And lest you think a lack of noise means a lack of suction, “the suction power is seriously impressive and handles everything from fine dust to bigger debris without a problem.” Overall, it “makes the job fast, easy, and oddly satisfying.”

Another satisfied customer wrote that the attachments are “useful” and the brushes in particular make it suitable for home (i.e., non-shop) use. They allow you to “capture dust and debris in a single stroke and send it into the vacuum,” and “indoors it will stand next to many of your premium brands of household vacuum.”

The DeWalt 5-Gallon Stealthsonic Shop Vacuum is, first and foremost, a DeWalt, maker of many of the best power tools on the market. It’s no surprise that the shop vacuum is up to the task, but it would be surprising if a deal this good lasted much longer. So if you’re interested, get one now, because missing out would really suck.

Jason Kelce Takes a Subtle Shot at Travis Kelce

NFL superstars Jason and Travis Kelce may be best friends and business partners, but there are certain things that they do not exactly see eye-to-eye on, and that includes their fashion choices.

This week, Jason Kelce announced an apparel line under his brand, Underdog, that includes a collection of sweatshirts and T-shirts made entirely in the United States.

Jason announced the news as part of an interview with The New York Times, where he opened up a little bit about the clothing line and his own fashion choices – and took a subtle shot at his brother's fashion choices in the process.

Jason's new Underdog clothing line is not exactly flashy. It's simple, rugged, and versatile – just the way he likes it. And he doesn't necessarily understand the allure of wearing anything different.

“I don’t want to offend anybody, I never understood the reason that somebody would want to wear Gucci, or some of these high-end brands,” Jason told The New York Times during a recent interview. “It’s never appealed to me.”

“I would much rather wear something that symbolized a blue-collar worker as opposed to a suit,” Jason continued.

Intentional or not, this is some subtle shade thrown at his brother Travis, who often wears those high-end, luxury brands that Jason loathes – Gucci included.

In fact, at last year's US Open, Travis was seen with his pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift wearing a full Gucci outfit, complete with a flashy bucket hat featuring the brand's iconic red and green stripe.

Swift herself often wears high-end, designer clothing with the outfits she wears to Travis' games regularly including single items worth thousands of dollars.

Obviously, Jason said himself that he didn't intend to offend anyone with his words, and that obviously includes his brother and his brother's superstar girlfriend. Still, he made it very clear that he does not understand why someone would wear some of the flashy outfits they often choose to wear.

The good news is that in recent years, the two of them have seemingly grown quite comfortable with their differences and maintain a close relationship despite them. So it's unlikely that Travis will take any strong offense to Jason's words.

Luigi Mangione Judge Issues Clear Warning Before Murder Trial

Luigi Mangione has officially pleaded guilty to murder charges in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson back in December. But before the trial officially begins, the judge had a pretty clear warning to the lawyers involved in the case.

Mangione faces allegations of fatally shooting Thompson on Dec. 4 while the CEO was entering the Hilton Hotel in midtown, New York. Authorities apprehended him five days later at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania. He has since been charged with murder through the use of a firearm, two counts of stalking, and a firearms offense.

As a result of the charges, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi made it clear earlier this month that the Justice Department would seek the death penalty if Mangioni is convicted of the crimes.

“Luigi Mangione’s murder of Brian Thompson — an innocent man and father of two young children — was a premeditated, cold-blooded assassination that shocked America. After careful consideration, I have directed federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty in this case as we carry out President Trump’s agenda to stop violent crime and Make America Safe Again,” Bondi said in a statement earlier this month.

However, this statement from Bondi seemed to cause a bit of a problem.

In an April 11 court filing, Mangione's lawyers asked Judge Margaret Garnett to block prosecutors from seeking the death penalty in the case, arguing that Bondi had violated the defendant’s rights to due process. The filing argued that Bondi had prejudiced the pool of potential jurors with her public statement before a fair trial could take place.

This led to Garnett issuing a clear warning to Bondi and interim Manhattan U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton, telling them to "public commentary that could impede Mangione’s right to a fair trial."

“I’m specifically directing the government to convey my directive to Mr. Clayton and request that he convey the same to Attorney General Bondi and her associates at main Justice,” Garnett said according to CNBC.

It is obviously a high-profile case, but it sounds like Garnett is going to do everything possible to make sure that Mangione gets a fair trial.

REI Is Selling a $379 Gore-Tex Jacket for $186 During Its Outlet Sale That Keeps Shoppers 'Comfortable and Dry'

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

There’s a major outlet sale going on at REI for a few days with tons of deals on great gear from hiking boots to backpacking tents, and then additional savings on them, depending on the total size of your haul. That's why we’re extremely excited about this deal that drops a top-rated premium rain jacket down to more than half of its normal price just in time for spring excursions.

The Outdoor Research Grandridge Gore-Tex Jacket is usually $379, but it currently has a regular 29% discount and then an additional outlet sale discount that brings the total price down to $186—a true discount of $193, more than 50% off. The jacket is available in three colors (blue, orange, and brown) and sizes small through 2XL, though we could see this selling out pretty quickly.

The Outdoor Research jacket has done its research well, by both having a stylish design and avoiding pitfalls that other rain jackets do not. It has a breathable, wind-proof and waterproof design with pit zip venting, which, while hiking, is as essential for getting out the moisture you produce as it is to keep outside moisture from getting in. The ventilation from the zippered pit area, along with adjustable wrist cuffs and an elastic drawcord hem, gives you control over these elements as you face them.

One reviewer said, “This is an awesome jacket. Love the lightweight and breathable Gore-Tex.” The jacket works just as well in practice as in theory.

Another shopper who described the jacket as “comfortable and dry” recalled a journey in the jacket: “This jacket arrived just before a very rainy trip to Newfoundland and Labrador. It fit very well and kept me dry if I was wandering George Street or exploring Cape Spear. The quality and functionality were top notch.”

This Outdoor Research jacket deal is very intriguing. If you just want it by itself, it is already marked down doubly, arriving at a true price of just $186. But, if you want more gear (and especially stuff that wouldn’t reach the $250 threshold for max savings by itself), then this single jacket gives everything in your cart big savings. Be sure to buy by April 28 to lock in the deal.
