I am new to this blogging and became carried away on promoting the books and not myself. Part of learning marketing of the books is learning to brand my name as well. With that being said, I am not talking about my books this week, but will give a small recap next week.

One of the joys I have in life is cooking. I discovered early in life, it came naturally to me. It is a joy to watch people eat what I have prepared without saying a word until they are done because they enjoy it so much. It is even better when they complement the meal and my head grows two sizes. With this in mind, I am sharing one of my favorite recipes.
Tex-Mex Beef (note can substitute pork butt or chicken of equal weight)
14.5 oz. Can of diced tomatoes
4 oz. Can of diced green chilies
4 oz. diced onions
3 – 4 cloves Garlic
1 Tsp. Cumin
1.5 tsp. Chili power
1 tsp. Chipotle power or two medium Jalapenos diced fine
2 tsp. Salt
1 oz. lime or lemon juice
3 lbs. Chuck roast

Mix ingredients in a slow cooker and stir smooth. Add meat and simmer for six hours turning the meat after three. Pull meat from broth, skim fat from surface, and shred meat with a fork. Add meat back to broth and taste for seasoning. You can brighten the flavor with some fresh jalapenos. Serve with rice or tortilla bread. It makes a great pot luck dish. If you want it hotter, add a couple cayenne peppers to it.

Friday 10/30/2020

This week has had slow sales but I am learning how to market my book through social media. I joined Pinterest and Tumblr in hopes of expanding my market. This month has brought some surprises. Goodreads continue to provide me with several avenues to reach out to potential customers as I joined several groups. Still not sure how to communicate with them but I keep trying. Author's Den is a place where authors can talk about their books and even allow me to share my short stories written over the years. Their analytics allow me to see how many looked at the stories as well as those who viewed my published books. there are countless other sites to show case my work some free and some with a nominal price.

The Genuine Daughter officially goes on sale on Halloween. This is the sequel to The Nonentity. I will start publicizing more this week. The preorders are available. This book touched me inside because I have a daughter and hate to think of people growing up the way she did. I also could not be more proud to see her overcome her upbringing to become very successful in life. Her heroics in this book are far more than the supernatural ability given to her by god.

This week has been about my short stories and reviewing them and updating them. Some of them written early need a lot of work. I can tell the improvement in my story telling from when I started. I am hoping to gather the updated stories an publish them into a book next year. They are a collection of humor, drama, and romantic stories. The reviewing of them this week really varied my emotions.

Friday 10/23/2020

I have 19 followers total and appreciate every one of you. I hope it was a good week for you.

I took a webinar class this week on advertising on Goodreads. It was very informative. I made some changes and took advantage of Goodreads offering. I am not sure if you noticed but there are more changes to come.

The Genuine Daughter is due out next Friday. It is the sequel to The Nonentity. Dannie adopts The Nonentity as her dad and discovers powers of her own. As she fights evil on Earth and Demons from another dimension, her power exceeds the unnamed flying man while maintaining her role as wife, mother, and restaurant owner. She has a very complicated life.

The Fighting Son is in editing and should be back to me in early November. This is the third in the flying people stories. I have set the release date for January 31, 2021.

If you have questions for me, feel free to post them and since I am on Goodreads almost every day, I will try to answer them. If you have a question, someone else might have the same question or it will trigger them into wanting to know.

Hope you all have a good week of peace, joy and love in the Lord.

Friday 10/16/2020

How are my followers this week? I hope it was a good week for you.

I am still learning about marketing my book. I am thinking it is price too high for a first book. I am considering reducing the price by a dollar for both paperback and E-book. Still not sure if I am marketing my books correctly, but still pushing through it and trusting God for guidance.

The sales of the first two books have fallen off a little this week and sought new lines of promoting the books. Listening to one vlogger suggest Pinterest, I made a Pinterest account this week. Still navigating this new site while trying to learn the ins and outs of it. If you are on Pinterest come look me up at Danny Mac Author. I just noticed it appears my name is Mac Author. I will hyphenate it in the future.

Living in the country where the snow plows regularly take down your mailbox, I have to drive to post office and pick up my proof of The Genuine Daughter, the second in the flying stories. I have been advertising Halloween as the release date which gives me plenty of time to review before publishing unless I find something horribly wrong. Check out my FB, Pinterest, or Instagram page for the cover.

The third in the flying stories, The Fighting Son went to the editor this week. It usually takes two to three weeks to receive it back and another week or so to review their notes. I will keep you informed as to its release.

Hope you all have a good week of peace, joy and love in the Lord.

Friday 10/09/2020

I have three more followers this week. Thank you for following me. I sold 51 books and looking to sell more.

I just finished a Give-away on Goodreads where 615 people requested The Six Loves of Jack Brown and 100 people received a free E-book. I hope one of you are a winner. There are four people currently reading The Nonentity and three reading The Six Loves of Jack Brown. I am looking forward to their rating and possible review of the book. As I said in the past, writing is a lonely occupation where I do not get to see people enjoying my work. Rating and reviews are the only method of seeing people’s reaction to my service.

I am still reviewing marketing videos and am getting some ideas useful for promoting my book. Having followers on Goodreads is one of the keys that come through on almost every video. This is why I thank my followers first and foremost. I have given up on Facebook ads because I get a lot of clicks but not many sales. Perhaps when the book sells more copies, I will return to FB ads. Likewise, amazon advertising doesn’t have a good return on investment. I think both might do better with a larger budget, but I don’t have the budget at this time.

One of the best marketing tools discussed among the videos is work of mouth. That is getting my followers to help me by suggesting to their friends. Please help me by creating a discussion about my books.

The Genuine Daughter is nearing completion after seven concept drawings for the cover. The artist is formatting the cover and should have to me shortly. Then I will submit it to KDP and finalize the book. It will take about a week to get a proof copy and another week for me to review it. The end of October is still looking like the publish date.

The Fighting Son, the third in the trilogy is finishing the writing portion. I was working on the back cover blurb this week and I am terrible about being brief. I posted it on Reddit where I had several people help me finalize the blurb. I am sending out to my editor next week. I hoping to have it published sometime in December, maybe ready for Christmas.

Friday 10/02/2020

I have three more followers this week. Thank you for following me. I sold 32 books in September and hoping to double in October. Currently, this is my only source of income, I could use your help.

I have been learning about marketing my book to obtain more readers. There are several YouTube tutorials for Facebook, Goodreads, and Amazon advertising. Some say to do one thing while another says to do differently. I am trying both where I can. One of the tutors mentioned having my followers to put my books on their Want to Read list. If you have read either book, please rate it and maybe even leave a review. It will help a great deal in promoting my books.

Also, I learned about List in Goodreads. This is where my followers or any reader can add my book to a list and vote on it as being the best. List is found under the Browse button at the top of your home page. In my research this week, I discovered the sub-genre of Urban Fantasy for The Nonentity. Urban Fantasy takes place in the current or past century and involves elements that go against the natural world. This would be the best place to list my book. Thank you in advance.

I am still waiting on the final book cover design for The Genuine Daughter that bring the best of both book covers that my friends and I liked. Hopefully within the next week, I can approve the cover and enter into KDP and finish the book. I will then order a proof copy to ensure the book is ready and have it published by the end of the month. I have an event listed for its release, keep an eye open for it.

The fighting Son is complete but want to read it over one more time before sending to editor. I will accomplish this in the next week. This is the third in the trilogy of flying people books. It should come out in December or January if everything goes well on it.

There still a free Give-away for The Six Loves of Jack Brown and it end on October 8, 2020. If you have not read this book, here is a chance for a free E-book. This book is more of a Relational or Love category if you want to vote on it.

Finally, one tutor suggested weekly blogs while another said monthly. Which do you prefer?

Friday 09/25/20

Hi all,

It was a busy week for me and I am a day late delivering this week’s blog. For this, I am sorry.

Yesterday was National Daughter Day and Senior Night at the high school. I walked my daughter across the football field celebrating her five years in band. This usually takes place in late October but due to the restrictions and guidelines from the state, it was last night. I am grateful because it was a beautiful evening around seventy degrees. However it is disappointing because there may or may not be other opportunities for her in the band this marching season.

I received three concepts for the second flying book, The Genuine Daughter. I connected with two of them. Concept #1 looked similar to the first book and concept #3 was completely different. The artist is trying to keep the images of #3 while using the colors of #1 to tie the books together yet let the reader know they are different stories. I will keep you updated on the publish date which is still looking like October.

The Fighting Son is the third in the flying series making it a trilogy of sorts. I am finishing the final manuscript in an effort to send to editing. From sending to the editor until publishing is about two months. I am hoping December for it release, but willing to wait until January to make it correct.

Amazon has sold 28 of my books, 20 is The Nonentity and 8 is The Six Loves of Jack Brown. Goodreads is running a give-away for The Six Loves of Jack Brown starting Saturday, September 26, 2020, which is today. If you would like a free copy please sign up for a free book.

I have two ratings, one for each book. I would like to see more, so if you have read either book, please rate them. It really encourages me to see people acknowledging my work.

Thank you all for following

September 18, 2020

Friday 09/18/20

Hi I picked up another follower this past week. Thank you for following me.

I received three excellent concepts for my next book, Dannie, the Genuine Daughter. One looks very close to the first book in the series and the other two keep the fantasy motive but look different. I am leaning toward one of the different that has a special charm to it. I will make the final decision next week some time. I am hoping to publish the book in October. I will share the final date with you when I know it.

The third in the series is in my final read before sending it to the editor for them to perform their magic. Detecting and correcting grammar mistakes is like magic to me. They also soften some rough edges making it more enjoyable for the reader. After sending to editor, it takes about three weeks before it is ready to go to publishing. Then we have the cover design and I think it will be December before reaching the publishing date. Keep an eye on it coming to Amazon then.

The current book, The Nonentity has sold 16 units, the same as last week. However, my first book got a boost this past week from a $.99 sale and now have eight total sales with six being E- Books. The $.99 sale for The Nonentity starts Monday September 22, 2020 and here is your chance to buy at a great deal if you didn’t get a free one.

After the three flying books, I am working on a book of short stories called The Collectanea. Collectanea definition by Merriam-Webster is collected writings or literary items forming a collection. First defined in 1791, it comes from the Latin word collectaneus. The stories will range from serious to light hearted and tear jerking sad to joyful amusement. This will not happen until 2021.

As for me, I think I am finally done with the medical conditions for this year. Thank God for taking care of me this year. I fell behind on grass cutting because of surgeries and rain. I have to go out today and try to catch up on it.

Thank you all for following

September 11, 2020

Friday 09/11/2020

It is the anniversary to a tragic event in American history. My heart goes out to all the people who lost loved ones on that day and are still dealing with the consequences.

I had my stiches removed from my back this week and the scar on my face is healing nicely. The doctor believes this should be all I need to recover.

I am currently giving away 100 books through Goodreads and if you haven’t signed up, I decided to make it two weeks for the give-away, so there is still time. If you have read the book, please rate it for it shows me that there are people reading it. In addition to Goodreads promotion, I am running a $.99 sale on The Six Loves of Jack Brown. This goes through Sunday evening. It is a great price for an E-book.

I am still waiting on the cover design for the sequel to The Nonentity which should come in the next couple of days. After receiving the samples on the art, I show my friends to see what they like about and can make changes. I am hoping the artwork plays on the first book yet uniquely different representing a completely different work yet related.

The third book in the flying series is in the cleanup phase before I send it to the editor. I am horrible about changing tense within a paragraph. So I am correcting that while making sure the plot reads the way it should. It is easier to put the story to paper than clean the grammar of the book. Then again, what do you expect from a guy who enjoys numbers for being so orderly. The third book might be ready for a December 1st release but probable looking at the first of the year.

I pray everyone who reads my blogs have a peaceful and loving week that only God can provide.

Friday 09/04/2020

Hi,
It is Friday September 4, 2020. I want to thank two new followers on Goodreads. The week has been tiring because of the surgery to remove basal cells from my chin. It makes it hard to sleep when you cannot lie on half your face.
I have sold fourteen books of The Nonentity and promoting to sell more. Thank you if you are one who bought or received a free book. I hope you rate the book both on Goodreads and my Amazon Author page. It would be nice to see what strangers think of my stories. Thanks in advance for your opinion.
Dannie, The Genuine Daughter is the sequel to The Nonentity and I am waiting on cover design to publish. Dannie sees the flying man as a father figure in her life since she grew up without a father. He knows of her powers but she resists them because her life is full of family and career. Upon realizing her power, she discovers in many ways if surpasses the man she calls Dad. She likes the abilities because they do not interfere with her life. That is until she discovers the reason for these powers includes having to fight some very bad people and demonic creatures from another dimension. However with each victory, Dannie’s power grows in strength and intensity. Likewise, her relationship with Dad grows closer as she learns to depend upon him to the point she does not hesitate to save his life.
I never know how much to add into a synopsis because it involves a fine line between letting the reader know something about the book and revealing too much. So, I try to explain enough to make it interesting without giving away the story. Currently, I am erroring on not revealing too much. My intent at this time is to have the book ready to purchase on October 1st of this year.
