The Starhill is set to welcome patrons in early 2021,” he added.

A flagship CIMB Bank branch serving their top clientele will also feature on the same floor.

Meanwhile, at the heart of the Home of the Tastemakers on the Lower Ground Floor, The Starhill Dining celebrates culinary sophistication, bringing to diners fresh, seasonal and globally inspired dining experiences with a diverse spread of gastronomic creations served by the Tastemakers, each with a unique food programming. The Starhill Dining’s collection of captivating dining and entertainment concepts includes Shook!, KL’s choice restaurant that continues to fuel the imagination; Luk Yu Tea House that embraces a poetic Chinese heritage; The Alchemy bar featuring gin botanicals for every season; the popular Jogoya restaurant; fine Arabic cuisine at Tarbush Lounge and much more. Diners can look forward to rediscovering the city’s most riveting dining and entertainment destination hotspot, stylishly reinvented right in the heart of Bukit Bintang this December.

More new and exquisite brands with new-to-market concepts are set to make a mark at The Starhill and will be announced in due time.

Love Korean Fried Chicken? Get UZU Korean Boneless Fried Chicken Delivered to Your Doorstep

How long has it been since I enjoyed dining out with my family and friends? Well, I don’t know. It’s really been awhile since the Covid19 pandemic crisis strike. I don’t feel safe to dine out anymore, and even more so these days. Seeing how the Covid19 cases keep pointing up, I decided that it’s best that I quietly stay home for now and do what I love to do best during my free time; binge watching Kdramas and swoon over handsome Oppa.

Handsome Oppa are certainly swoon worthy. That’s a given, but marathon-ing Kdramas has a huge drawback, which is those mouthwatering food scenes they featured. God, that’s pure torture. I’ve forgotten how many times my stomach growled furiously each time I see scenes where they practically angled those Korean delicacies to your nose, giving me endless cravings for it.

Anyway I was rewatching the Kdrama Goblin and there’s this scene where one of the characters in it owns a fried chicken restaurant and was service loads of em. Upon seeing that, I knew I had to get myself some ‘fried chickin’.

My most recent craving was Korean Fried Chicken, and so I got myself these delicious UZU Boneless Korean Fried Chicken via Foodpanda.

UZU Korean Boneless Fried Chicken can be ordered through Foodpanda delivery website/apps or through their Facebook page.

UZU Fried Chicken is offering 6 different fried chicken flavours and some other daebak delicacies for you to choose from.

The fried chickens are all bite sized pieces and boneless and comes with a side of sesame yuzu salad, making it a perfect companion for Kdrama binge-watching or a quick meal during for those who are busy working.

Korean Boneless Fried Chicken-Original Flavour (RM19.90)- Adeptly fried with flour batter, this one is great for those who prefers a simple and non complex flavour.

Korean Boneless Fried Chicken (RM19.90) Hot Shocking Flavour- This one excitingly spicy and leaves numbing sensation on your palate, so it’s not for the faint hearted. It’s really spicy and only those who have acquired the enjoyment for such flavours will be able to eat this without crying. It’s fun to eat, though. Yours truly loves spicy food so I like this one alot. Great for ‘eat spicy food’ mukbang challenges. Just make sure you have a glass of milk ready on the side if you can’t stand spicy food.

Korean Boneless Fried Chicken (RM19.90)- Soy Garlic Flavour- Slightly savoury with a hint of sweetness, this flavour warrants an addiction for all fried chicken lovers. Great on it’s own, and even more so if you want to pair it with a bowl of piping hot steamed rice.

Korean Boneless Fried Chicken- Honey Butter Flavour (RM19.90)- Drizzled with sweet honey butter sauce, this flavour is my personal favourite. It’s not cloyingly sweet a d it’s so pleasant on the palate. This is highly addictive as well. Highly recommended for those who likes sweetly flavoured fried chicken.

Korean Boneless Fried Chicken Cheese Snowing Flavour (RM19.90)- Richly flavoured with slightly sweet and salty snow-like cheese powder, this fried chicken will definitely win the heart of cheese lovers.

Korean Boneless Fried Chicken Sweet and Spicy Flavour (RM19.90)– If you like spicy food but not really that adventurous and wouldn’t want that tongue-burning sensation after taking a bite, then this flavour is for you. It’s midly spicy with a hint of sweetness. Again, this is great on it’s own or paired with a bowl of piping hot steamed rice.

Dakgalbi Fried Rice (RM19.90)– Dakgalbi is a very popular dish in Korea, especially in Chuncheon, a city in Gangwon Province where the dish originated dated back in the 1960’s. It’s originally spicy stir-fried chicken dish made with boneless chicken pieces, rice cakes green cabbage, sweet potato, and other vegetables. This is the fried rice version of it. It’s a tad spicy and comes with a side of kimchi, and topped with generous amount of stripped seaweed and sunny side up fried egg. A wholesome dish, great for those who want a filling and satisfying meal in a box.

Japchae Glass Noodle (RM19.90)- Japchae is a Korean mixed vegetables dish. When it was first invented in the 17th century, japchae was a noodle-less dish. But nowadays, the main highlight of the dish is glass noodles, which is made from sweet potatoes, along with colorful vegetables and well seasoned meat. The one from Uzu doesn’t contain any meat, but it’s delicious nevertheless. The portion is really huge, and is great for sharing.

Cheese Rice Cake (RM19.90)- Love teokbokki (Korean rice cakes) but not really in the mood for the messy sweet sauce? Well then, try the fried version of it instead. Coated with bread crumbs and stuffed generously with gooey cheese, this dish gives you quite a gastronomic experience. Cheese lovers will definitely love this Cheese Rice cakes.

Overall, all I can say about the food is pure love. Daebak! Not only they’re selling some satisfyingly delicious fried chicken for you to indulge in, but they have wholesome comforting meal like Japchae and Dakgalbi fried rice too. And oh, I forgot to mention that if you can’t live without banchan, you may order their kimchi white radish pickles too. They’re freshly made, I assure you.

For those who craves for some delicious Korean boneless fried chicken, you may want to order some from Uzu Chicken. Below is the details:

Let’s admit it. We’re living in a fast- pace world where almost everyone in all walks of life are buzzing around to the point that we have no choice but to neglect our skincare routine due to the lack of time to pamper themselves. Well, maybe this is not true for others who are diligent enough to take care of their of their skin, but this is particularly true for me. My daily routine is so packed that I could barely squeeze in any pampering session for myself. By the time I get home from work daily, all I want to do is just hit the sack and sleep. My skin of course suffer from my neglect. They get easily dry, dull, uneven and so on, especially after my swimming or scuba diving sessions, but lucky me, there’s a new skincare product in town that offers a top-to-toe care; the LFiz Body&Face Soap with Floral Scents.

Shop & Save With PG Mall Wow Store: FREE SHIPPING

It’s been rainy lately and monsoon is coming. That can only mean one thing for me; the islands in the East Coast of Malaysia will be closed for diving season and there will be no diving for me until at least March next year, since flying to other diving destinations in Malaysia is not quite convenient during this Covid19 period. It’s going to be a really, really a long wait until the next diving season is opened again.

Well, in all honesty, I still can dive if I really want to. There are plenty of stunning dive sites in Sabah, but I rather not fly all the way from KL to Sabah. It’s a real hassle to adhere to RMCO SOP. I hated wearing masks in public. Although it’s said not to affect any of our oxygen intake, but I felt as if carbon dioxide built-up really quick whenever I wear those masks and it makes me feel suffocated and breathless. I very much rather just stay home unless I really have no other choice but to go out.

So, since I don’t really go out, how do I run household errands? Well, easy. These days I’m quite taken to doing everything online, including shopping for groceries. Shopping used to be so much fun, but with social distancing, mask wearing being compulsory and whatnot, going to malls these days feels very much like a chore I need to finish quickly, and I just hate that feeling.

Since Covid19 hits us all, I practically do all of my shopping via my PC or my smartphone. It’s really convenient, I must say.

One of my favourite shopping platform is PG Mall. Have you heard of PG Mall? If you haven’t, then allow me to share with you all about it.

Established since 2017, PG Mall is THE ONLY local e-commerce platform in Malaysia that ranked Top 3 at Iprice Insight Report. So, what’s good about PG Mall that they reigned the Top 3 ranking at Iprice Insight Report? Well, for one, PG Mall accepts all e-wallets and payment gateway, making it extremely hassle-free and convenient to shop without worrying about the payment channel to use.

Anyway, since I’m not busy diving and enjoying the underwater world somewhere, I did some peeking at PG Mall so that I could start doing some shopping for Christmas and Chinese New Year, and I’m ecstatic to share with you that they’re currently having crazy sales and promos around. I’ve compiled it up for you, so check it out, people!

Is Diving A Safe Sport?

2020 by far have been a very challenging year. We not only have to deal with pandemic crisis but recession too. Global lockdown and traveling ban were imposed during the first two quarter of the year before restrictions were slowly eased. As someone who is passionate about travel and extreme sport, living in confinement is not an easy thing. I thought I’d go insane from having to stay home for such a long period of time, and so when restrictions were eased, I quickly made plans to do things that I’ve always wanted to do, eg: diving.

I’ve always been passionate about diving, but September 2020 is somewhat jinxed and bears some bad news to us all Malaysian divers. Within the span of just one month, the Malaysian divers community is shaken by the news of 3 diving accidents that causes death. One is an Open Water Diver in Tioman Island, while another two are an Open Water student and an instructor in two different cases in Redang Island.

As a consequence to the news, plenty of naysayers are trying to discourage me from further pursuing my passion and education in diving, but I’d like to reiterate that diving is relatively a safe recreational sport and most accidents are usually caused by health issues and accidents are sometimes caused by neglects.

Scuba diving is enjoyed by thousands of people around the globe and it is considered a low-risk activity in comparison to many other outdoor and sports activities.

Let me share with you, especially non-divers on how it’s like before Open Water certification students/ divers are allowed to dive in the open water, so that you can have an insight on what it’s really like before we divers are allowed to dive;

First, there would be briefings on what you can expect from the upcoming dives.

Divers will be informed on dive plans, dive sites, max depth, maximum bottom time, weather conditions and standard procedures should any unexpected issues arises.

Certified divers who haven’t dive for quite some will be required to do some dive check/or a refresh dive, to ensure that they still remembers their diving skills. During the briefing, divers will also revise their hand signals so that miscommunications does not happen when they are underwater.

Then there will be the equipment set up and check, where everything will be inspected properly to ensure every single diving gears are in good conditions. This is to prevent accident from equipment malfunction and failure.

And then there’s also equipment fitting session if divers are using rental equipments instead of their own equipment. Proper weighting to enable divers smooth decent is made as well during this session.

Diving is not a solo sport. So nobody dives solo unless they are a certified Solo Diver. Yes, you need a special license for that. In each dives, all divers who don’t already have a personal dive buddy will be assigned a dive buddy that you will dive with throughout the entire dives. If it’s a course there will also be accompanying Dive Master(s)/ instructor’s assistant(s) who will assist the instructor throughout the entire course to ensure the safety of the students. If it’s a fundives, there will also be guide(s) who will guide divers throughout their dives. No one is unaccompanied throughout the entire dive.

Buddy check; we divers always will look after our buddies and do safety checks on each other’s equipment prior diving and ensure we understand each other’s hand signals.

Now, only when everything is double checked, divers will be allowed to dive. And even then, nobody is allowed to dive beyond the plan and the depth that they are certified for. Everyone are also reminded to be extra careful and alert while diving.

Of course, like any other activities in the natural environment, there are inherent risks in scuba diving that cannot be fully eliminated. However, with proper training and when following strict diving practices, the likelihood of a fatal accident is low, and diving is still a relatively safe sport to participate in.

Mares Avanti Pure Fins Review

Plenty of people will advice you against buying your own diving gear when you just started diving. It’s skills that matters most, not the gears, they say. But I beg to differ. I have to strongly disagree with that statement as in my humble opinion, part of the things that could make or break your dives is the diving equipment. Rental equipments are not always new and well maintained, and therefore, buying your own equipments is definitely an investment if you plan to be a diver for a very long time. At the very least, buy your own diving mask, snorkel and fins. Don’t tell me you’re okay with wearing leaky masks that doesn’t fit snugly on your face? Or a mask that plenty of divers has spit on to defog? (Yes, people. Some divers do use their saliva to defog their masks) Or fins that rubs on your heels that it injured you badly after diving? Eww, no. No thanks, not for me. I’d at least use my own mask, snorkel and fins, thank you very much.

Picking your first pair of diving mask and fins is a serious business, and after some research and recommendations, I decided to go with this; the Mares Avanti Pure Fins. This pair of fins is pretty much lightweight, and it weights just about 0.6kg and is made of soft of thermoplastic rubber, making it one of the most travel friendly fins in the market.

The Mares Avanti Pure Fins is originally made to be worn barefoot, but the design is unique in the sense that it can also be worn with booties. The Mares Avanti Pure is an excellent pair fin that’s also budget friendly. I bought it from a dive shop in Kuala Lumpur for less than RM300, and pretty much a good deal, I must say.

The Mares Aventi Pure’s ergonomic heel pad minimises pressure on the Achilles’ heel while the bungee helps the strap to stay in the right position while finning.

Easy finning, works great with flutter or frogkick. I usually have problems with rental fins as I couldn’t muster a kicks to glide through the water, but the channel on the Mares Avanti Pure fins helps to glide through the water effortlessly even with gentle kicking. The Mares Avanti Pure helps improve ankle flexibility and leg endurance while the ownward angled blade promotes the ease of surface swimming. (I bet it’s awesome to be used as snorkeling fins too)

The fins helps with underwater navigation and is pretty buoyant. I even tried the reverse kick with this Mares Avanti Pure and it’s definitely easier to use and less tiring on the feet in comparison to other rental fins that I’ve worn before.

So do I recommend the Mares Avanti Pure? Yes, I definitely recommend this fins, especially for new announced Open Water Divers and for those who are diving in warm tropical water and those with small feet and for ladies who are prone to leg cramps and fatigue.

I’m not sure if this pair of fins provide strong thrusts that will be able to fight strong currents as I’ve only used it in calm underwater environment but I can definitely vouch it’s effectiveness in calm tropical water.

Treating Sunburns and Rashes with Sabun Ajaib

Scuba diving is a very honest and non- glamorous sport. Once you’re underwater, your looks does not matter. Even if you’ve put on some makeup prior to diving, it’ll simply be washed away. What matters most about diving is not you, or how you look like, but your surroundings; the beauty of the marine life and it’s wondrous ecosystem.

If I were to describe how diving is like to non divers out there; it’s like stepping into another world that’s both beautiful and mysterious at the same time. To me, diving is life. Everything else is just surface interval. But I’m a terribly vain person. As much as I love diving, this recreational sport have a drawback. It gives me frazzled hair, painful sunburns and nasty rashes. Now, why didn’t I use sunblocks to prevent such things from happening? Well, I don’t use sunscreens/sunblocks lotions because most of the sunblocks commonly sold are not reef friendly and they are harmful towards corals and the marine lives.

Irritating skin due to sunburns and rashes as well as frazzle hair is really annoying. But luckily for me, there’s this; Sabun Ajaib.

Sabun Ajaib is a handmade soap made from 100% natural ingredients- mainly bamboo vinegar and is great for relieving skin irritation due to itchiness. It’s highly recommended for those with ekzema or skin proriasis.

I was skeptical at first when my friend introduced me to this soap, but I’ve been using this Sabun Ajaib religiously and it works wonders on me. It actually have cooling effect and soothes sunburns instantly upon usage. My skin actually felt much more moisturizer after frequent usage. And the best part? It works wonders on my hair too where it helps to reduce frazzles and actually soften my hair like expensive shampoo would. Needless to say, I’m never going for a diving trip without taking Sabun Ajaib along with me. It’s definitely a saviour. Yups, I highly recommend this, especially for divers.

If you have sensitive skin, ekzema, or suffer from skin irritations, you might want to try this soap. It’s been helpful for me and my family. Who knows it might work wonder on you too.

How to Choose The Right Agency for Your Open Water Diver Certification

Since I started diving last year, I’ve always hear people asking me me this when they are considering to take their Open Water diving license:

Which agency should I go with? PADI or SDI or SSI?

Now, that’s a trick question. Honestly, there’s no right or wrong in choosing the agency that you want to start to learn diving with.

These agencies teaches the same thing and produces the same thing, which is: divers. These certifying agencies are the same, be it PADI, SDI, SSI, NAUI, etc. They’re all regulated under the same roof, which is the World Recreational Scuba Training Council (WRSTC).

The license granted by these agencies are inter-crossable, so it doesn’t matter from which agency you started your Open Water with, you still can use the license to advance and continue your education with others, and dive at any part of the world that you want at the depth that you’re qualified for. None of it is superior than the others, so which agency you start diving with doesn’t actually matters.

What makes the difference is how they market the diving/certification packages and the instructors as well as the community they’re in.

Listen up! You don’t choose agencies. You choose the DM or instructors that you’re comfortable with. You need someone who can patiently guide you, and someone who you you can trust your life with when you’re underwater. So yea, research your DM/ future instructors first. Go with recommendations, stalk their profile and talk to them before you sign up for anything. There’s no point diving if you’re gonna have to tolerate impatience or unable to enjoy the experience underwater. You also need to feel safe underwater, so go with someone you can trust your life with.

And another word of advice? I’d suggest you to go with the Dive Centre that provides an all inclusive service; with no hidden charges instead of just those crooked ones that advertised themselves as cheap but at the end of the day, you got to fork out more money for boat transfer costs, accomodations, meals and whatnot. Trust me. You’ll won’t regret following this advice.

I’ll be penning down more about diving from now on and perhaps some diving gear reviews in the future as a newbie diver, so keep your eyes peeled for it, ya?
