Some more good news :)

I finally got my Cuminin level stabilized and now only have to get pricked once a month! I no longer have to look like a junkie! Unfortunately, my doc can’t get me on this one alternative medication, a new blood thinner that requires less monitoring, because I don’t have a heart condition. Only patients with heart conditions can be prescribed it, according to the FDA. Go figure. But the Cuminin is OK. I just need to watch how I eat. Since vitamin K, which is found in many green vegetables, in...

Good, good news!

breast cancer ribbonEver since my mom had a double mastectomy for lobular cancer, we’ve had to do a cancer marker test at least once a year. Essentially, a cancerous tumor will usually produce a specific protein in the blood that serves as a marker for the cancer. With breast cancer, a cancer survivor is tested for two different kinds of “blood marker tests”–CA 15-3 and CA 27-29. This is a really good page located at cancer.org about cancer marker tests. Well, the last time we had a marker test, back in June of...

Fantastic Find! Reptilicus the Comic!

Reptilicus

Reptilicus: Marionette of Doom!

I’ve been searching for this comic for seemingly forever now. I mean, it’s a comic based on a movie about Finland’s only kaiju, the magnificent, flying, green-puke spitting kaiju, Reptilicus!

Kaijuphiles, rejoice!

It’s about dancing Danes, and an impossible monster, and city destruction. You just don’t get to see that in movies nowadays!

Linky linky to read the coveted comic!

Enjoy!

Bedeviled

Well, Nick has had a really awesome spotlight, four-star review over at Bookfetish.org courtesy of reviewer Renee C. Fountain:

“There have always been whispers of a black magic past surrounding the small, rural town of Blackwater. However, even long-time residents would be shocked to learn just how many so-called mythical creatures are prowling around their community—namely angels and demons.

Nick Englebrecht comes from one of the founding families of Blackwater. A former NYC cop, Nick retired...

Goodbye 2012

I can’t say it was a bad year, overall. I got a lot accomplished. Wrote a lot of books, sold some stuff professionally, self-pubbed some other stuff. Nothing did badly. I did get some panning on my Mrs. McGillicuddy Mysteries and my Nick Englebrecht series at first, but readers are coming around and don’t seem to mind the strangeness anymore. I figure if it sells, then it’s done its job, with or without good reviews. But I’m definitely looking forward to 2013. I think this will be the year re...

Read an except from The Mrs. McGillicuddy Mysteries, Episode 01

The Mrs. McGillicuddy Mysteries, Season 1, Episode 1: So You Want to be a Vampire

It was the longest day of Mrs. Eliza McGillicuddy’s life. It was also her last.

Full of nervous energy since waking up that morning, she opened the watch shop well in advance of her usual hours of operation, sold three pocket watches, two brooch watches, and fixed the watch of a young dandy who had somehow managed to sit on his own fob. The afternoon passed in a similar blur. Customers came and went. And as the ho...
