Equal Rights Blog Hop (thoughts & drawing)
Ahh, Friday. Lots to do today with a day off, but I’m starting with the Equal Rights Blog Hop hosted by Queer Town Abbey. The theme of the hop is what being part of the GLBT/Queer Community means to me!
I was listening to a podcast recently about queerness in fandom, and what really caught my attention was the definition. Now, as a white cis-gendered mostly-hetero woman, sometimes I worry that I don’t deserve to be counted as a member of the queer community, and that doubt makes me feel out of...

More Hard D reviews
Got two more for you!
JJ at Rainbow Book Reviewscalled it “a blast,” despite the Ultimate jargon filling up the first half of the story, andrecommendsreaders “hang around till after the game ends and enjoy the post-game party and post-party festivities as much as [she] did.” Thanks JJ!
Sean at World of Diversity Fictiongave it 4 stars, and would have given it 5 if it were longer. Sorry, Sean! I feel you. There could be so much more romance for these boys. My shortcomings include stories that ar...

Hard D gets a B+ at GayListBookReviews
These reviewers are taking on the major task of reviewing all the stories in the Make a Play collection, and they gave “Hard D” a B+! Thanks, Nina and Beans!
Beans called it “a great novella,” with “funny and vibrant” characters who “set the sheets on fire.” Nina said she was “wanting to dig out the frisbee and hit the park.” Read the rest of the review, and the others, by clicking here.
Read an excerpt of the short story here, or get it from Dreamspinner Press.

Hard D – Make A Play Daily Dose 2013 – Dreamspinner Press
Ben Meyers has played Ultimate Frisbee since his first week at college, and at every tournament he comes face to face with Darius O’Neill, his favorite rival. Deadlines
“I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they fly by.”. – Douglas Adams
No doubt you are familiar with that quote. I wish I had that kind of attitude towards deadlines, but my recent academic career seems to have beaten it out of me. Worse still, I approach deadlines rather like an outlaw on the top of a train: I’ll duck under them at the last moment, risking life and limb to make it.
I had two major deadlines to meet this month, and both of them saw me up at midnight working...

“Hard D” cover
This cover makes me laugh so much. SPORTS. Now that the rounds of edits are through and the blurb is approved, I can finally officially start promoting this silly short story.
Ben Meyers has played Ultimate Frisbee since his first week at college, and at every tournament he comes face to face with Darius O’Neill, his favorite rival. This time, though, their good-natured competition goes off the field to the after-party and beyond, when three years of tension finally breaks open on the sheets o...

The door to the study opened, creaking faintly on its hinges, and closed again, engaging the latch.
“Did you close—?” Clayton breathed. He felt Theo nod.
The footsteps on the other side of the closet door crossed the room to the desk. Then there was silence, a painful amount of silence, which extended into a comforting sort of silence. If the theft had been noticed, there would be an uproar by now. On the other hand, whoever was behind that desk might not be going anywhere...
