2025 budget aims to ‘fix history’ of ex-majority, tackles François Bairou while condemning Macronist criticism

These statements especially aimed at Gabriel Atalpresident of the Macronist group Ensemble pour la République (EPR) in the National Assembly, and former interior minister Gérald Darmanin, who have repeatedly opposed any tax increase. “Parliament must once again become a place for discussions, negotiations and compromises. Let those who disagree propose amendments,” added Francois Bayroux.

Heated debates are ahead

“I am not in favor of organizing a guerilla war, especially when we belong to the mainstream from which this government is formed,” he declared. The draft budget for 2025, presented on October 10 in the Council of Ministers, envisages a 60 billion euro budget effort, with one third of tax increases and two thirds of savings.

But there is no consensus on this distribution: the Supreme Council of Public Finance takes a different reading, where the tax effort would actually account for 70% of the burden. Postponing increases in old-age pensions, electricity and air tax, cuts in reimbursements for medical consultations: the opposition, led by the New People’s Front, is also worried about the effects on the working and middle classes. That portends heated debates in the Assembly, where consideration of the text begins Wednesday in committee.

“Milan have never been this bad in the last ten years”

The beginning of the season Milan it was more than disappointing and the impact it had Paulo Fonseca is on the Rossoneri bench the worst Milanello in a decade. That’s not a complaint or a fan sentiment, it’s what it is the cold numbers say which for the moment nail the Portuguese coach, and especially under his voice average points earnedthe lowest in ten years. The Corriere dello Sport in fact today the headline is: “Milan has never been this bad in the last ten years”.

Nelleye reads: “The club has taken into account a difficult start, but now a change of pace is needed: the history of the Portuguese coach gives hope for important accelerations.” Then in subtitle the actual figures are quoted: “In nine games between Serie A and the Champions League, only three wins were achieved. Fonseca’s points average was lower than Giampaolo’s”. And precisely this last aspect I leave you unsettledbearing in mind how Giampaolo’s Milanello experience went.

South Korea finds GPS transmitters in North’s debris balloons

Dictatorship North Korea has already sent about 6,000 balloons to its democratically-ruled neighbor this year, South Korea’s armed forces said. This creates great inconvenience there. Balloons containing garbage bags disrupted air traffic and landed on buildings, vehicles and even the presidential palace.

North Korea portrays the sending of the balloons as a response to activists and defectors who sent balloons containing propaganda material across the border from South Korea. The balloon operation has already cost the North Koreans 600 million won (about 406,000 euros), South Korea estimates.

Relations between the neighboring countries are considered very tense. North and South Korea have been at war for the past century. It ended in an armistice, but a full-fledged peace treaty was never concluded afterwards. This means that the countries are still formally at war with each other.
