Amazon vs. Hachette, vs. Writers, vs. Readers
There is a big kerfuffle going on in writer’s circles. Actually, it isn’t so much going on as it is going on and on and on… It is one of those arguments that won’t seem to die. This is what usually happens when people are arguing back and forth between two choices that aren’t right for the question. It is like asking what should we have for breakfast and arguing back and forth between tennis shoes and a feeling of vague disappointment. Neither one answers the question, and they aren’t really...

Writing… and now Recording.
Last week I talked about getting back to work on writing the next draft ofThe Perils of Prague. I’ve made a start on it, but it is still slow going, what with everything else going on in my life. Still, I’m making progress. Moving forward. Unfortunately, now I’ve got to add something else to the mix. I’ve got some voice work commitments, and it is time to get recording again so that I can meet them.
So, to celebrate Independence Day, commonly known as the 4th of July, I’m going to be firing up...

Once more, with feeling!
I’ve tried to keep these #WriterWednesday posts going fairly regularly, but I have to admit that it has been a while since I last sat down and wrote. I’m not talking about writing a blog post, but actually crafting fiction. It is past time to get back on the writing trail. I’ve had notes from my editor forPerils, but I have not been able to take the time to talk to her about them and make sure that I understand everything she’s saying. Every time I try, something in life jumps up and gets in...

An eye opening experience. #YesAllWomen
So, a number of thing happened Memorial Day weekend. First off there was Balticon. This was full of fun and cool things and great friends, and regrettably, this is not what this post is about. We’ll come back to Balticon in another post. The second and third things that happened Memorial Day weekend weren’t cool at all, but they triggered the fourth thing, which is proving to be increasingly cool by pointing out things that are not cool. Not following along? Let me explain…
The second thing th...

Balticon 48 Schedule
Naturally, nothing is final until we get there, but here is what I’ve been told my schedule for this year’s Balticon is going to look like. Unlike earlier years, the schedule won’t be so heavy, in part because I believe Balticon has more guests this year than they have in the past. I won’t be doing a recording of The Shrinking Man Project for Balticon this year, but I will be doing a few new and interesting things, as well as keeping up with some old favorites.
So enough introduction! Let’s ge...

Blog Hop – Writing Process Interview
I have been tagged in a Blog Hop interview about my writing process. I was tagged by my former Galley Table cohort, Jeff Hite. This is part of a blog hop meme that has been bouncing around for a while. If you’re interested in who’s been tagged, feel free to follow the link to Jeff’s site and follow the trail backwards. There are quite a number of interesting writers back along the trail.
But, you’re here with me. And we’ve got an interview to do. So, let’s get on with that.
Jeff:You seem to be...

Blog Hop Interview… postponed.
Jeff Hite tagged me on a Blog Hop meme and gave me some interview questions that I was supposed to answer on May 12th. And then a family emergency came up, and I had to make an unplanned trip to Raleigh. So… didn’t get a chance to answer the questions. Never fear, I will answer them, it may just be delayed a few days. Sorry folks.
In the meantime, here is a short movie of some kittens on a Roomba.

With a Bullet
If you read the last post, you may have noted that I mentioned the publication of my story as part of the Way of the Gun Anthology. Yup, last friday the e-book edition of The Way of the Gun: A Bushido Western Anthology
went live on Amazon and PayHip. And yesterday, I got to see some interesting things happening with the e-book edition. Oddly enough, it all started with PC Haring…
Yesterday morning PC Haring was on Twitter, talking about the re-release of his book Cybrosis: A Codename CIRIS Cons...

Three weeks to Balticon 48!
We are just back from RavenCon, and already we’re looking forward to Balticon in just a few short weeks. RavenCon was a blast. I got to meet new people and visit with some old friends, and even got pulled into being part of a reading of the Eye of Argon in place of Philippa Ballantine. But that is a story for another post… This post is about Balticon 48, and what is coming up in the next few weeks. One thing that I’d nearly forgotten just jumped up and hit me by surprise: an impending publica...

RavenCon tomorrow!
Since this post is late, let’s start on a good note: RavenCon tomorrow!
After the stresses of the past week, I need to focus on something positive. So let me cover the high points before going into my tale of woe. Perils is back from the editor. Lots of comments and some general notes on some meat of the story that didn’t seem to make it out of my head and onto the page. I need to get back with my editor and discuss some of the issues with her, but first life just had to get busy making other...
