Swimming Cat Studios’ new newsletter

Swimming Cat Studios LogoIt has been a while since I’ve been able to post. A number of things, personal, dayjob, and writing related are involved in the delay, but that is a tale for another time. The reason for this post is that I’ve felt a bit remiss in not keeping folks informed with the progress of the various projects here at Swimming Cat Studios. To help remedy this situation, We’re launching a new newsletter.

Once a month, we’ll send out a newsletter to subscribers with the latest news, some sneak peeks, and s...

Cover reveal: The Girl in Acid Park by Lauren Harris!

Things have been awfully busy and confused at Swimming Cat Studios of late. Yes, the Cat wasconfused. (extra points if you get that reference!) But today, we’re very happy to be part of a new cover reveal by author Lauren Harris. Today Lauren is revealing the cover of her new book in her Millroad Academy Exorcists series. Some of you may remember the review I posted for the first book in the series, Exorcising Aaron Nguyen. Well, in anticipation of the release of the new book in the series, L...

Searching for Balticon 49 Audio and Photos

Post image for Searching for Balticon 49 Audio and Photos

Balticon 49 has been and gone. Unfortunately, I didn’t get my schedule far enough ahead of the con to post it. This year’s schedule was a little lighter than years past, but I did manage to get recordings for most, if not all, of my panels. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to record a lot of other panels. In years past, this would have been a minor thing. This year, I’m producing the Balticon Podcast! So I really need audio from this year’s con for the podcast! Actually, I need audio from Baltic...

RavenCon 2015 Schedule

Winter weather has had its way with me of late. Dealing with the dayjob and shoveling out from under waves of snowstorms have given me relatively little time to give attention to the blog. Today I’m home sick from work, so it occurred to me that I should finally spend a few lucid minutes working on a blog post for tomorrow and #WriterWednesday. So, if it wanders a bit, take pity on me. I’m sick.

One thing that did happen that I wanted to share: I will be a guest at RavenCon again this year! OK...

One step further to Perils

Been busy lately. A lot of that was writing. Back at the end of November, I decided that I needed to buckle down and get moving forward on gettingPerils ready for publication. I had worked on revisions based on my editor’s notes for a while, but I never got any traction because I still had some outstanding questions. As November came to a close, I realized that it was a prescription for procrastination. So, it was time to get something done.

I contacted my editor and asked my questions via e-m...

I didn’t know you could do that! Finding a better way to market talent.

Creative endeavors have taken a bit of a hit this year due to family emergencies and various domestic disasters. Things are still moving forward. I’m finally back to working on the fourth draft of Perils, and I’m on schedule to get it back to my editor by the end of January. I did finish a voice project for PC Haring, pending any retakes. But my other podcast projects have suffered, and I haven’t had much time for auditions for other voice work. That is a situation I want to rectify in the co...

To NaNo, or not to NaNo?

Well, it is that time of year again. November is just around the corner, and with November, there comes NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. For the uninitiated, this is a time where people all over attempt to write the first draft of a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. It’s a pretty daunting task. It requires dedication, consistency, and no tolerance for distractions. I’ve done NaNoWriMo the last three years. Should I do it again this year?

Back in 2011, I wrote the first draft of The Perils...

Capclave 2014 schedule now available!

Post image for Capclave 2014 schedule now available!

I must apologize for not posting here lately. Life has been very busy, and in my most productive time I’ve knuckled down on doing my voice recording, to keep to the schedule I agreed on with the producer. There hasn’t been as much time for blogging as I’d like. It has helped me regain some focus, though. I have a bad habit of working on too many projects at once and losing myself between them. While it is good to have the next project waiting in the wings, one must always keep focused on the...

And now, his watch is over…

Last night, a light went out in the podcasting firmament. We lost one of our own, P.G. Holyfield. This past weekend, it was announced on the site of PG’s latest project SpecFic Media, that PG had been diagnosed with a particular type of fast acting cancer. His first symptoms were noticed in July, and by the time he was diagnosed, the cancer had already progressed beyond the point of any treatment. With that announcement, a fund was started to raise money to help defray P.G.’s medical bills, a...

Voice Work Tuesdays and other things

I know I’ve been silent here for a while. It has been almost a month since I’ve been able to update the blog, and I’m afraid I have to say that not all the news is good. We’ve had more than our share of family drama and it has played out somewhat harshly than we had hoped. The repercussions have sent a bit of a wave through our family and we’ve in the process of picking up the pieces.

I don’t really want to go into too much detail about what happened, the events are still too raw. Back in June...
