YA Indie Carnival - Where We Write

The YA Indie Carnival sponsors share fantasy worlds with our readers constantly.  Today, we are sharing a piece of our real lives. We are  giving you a little insight into the people we are by revealing the spots where we work when we are creating new characters, dreaming up new worlds, and breaking our reader's hearts.

I'm going to start off by reminding everyone about how much I loved my mother-in-law, Lita. After she died and it came time to sell her house, neither my husband...

Divergent (Divergent #1) by Veronica Roth

Divergent (Divergent #1) by Veronica Roth
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (5 Stars) Divergent (Divergent #1) is one of those stories that pulls you in and never lets you go. Veronica Roth's talent is unquestionable. She begins this story with a scrawny and weak girl and ends with a formidable and powerful woman. This is not easily accomplished and must be done masterfully in order for the transition to be believable. I can say without a shadow of doubt that Beatrice Prior's (Tris) growth - both physical and...

Enemies of the Cross - Early Release

Enemies of the Cross (The Warrior Series #3) by T.R. Graves
I can say with absolute certainty that Enemies of the Cross is my favorite book of The Warrior Series. Yes, I do like it more than Warriors of the Cross and Guardians of the Cross. Within it, I've ratcheted up the excitement to a point where the readers' nerves might truly fray and snap. There are unexpected surprises and unforeseen twists that will keep you glued to the book/e-book desperately begging for Dark Angels of the Cr...

YA Indie Carnival - Off to College

The YA Indie Carnival 's weekly topic has never touched on a subject more near and dear to my heart than the one we are discussing this week. Instead of simply posting an excerpt - included at the bottom of this post - from The Warrior Series, I'm going to share the experience I had last weekend when dropping my daughter off at The University of Texas in Austin, Texas for her first away-from-home college year.
Since my son and husband had baseball and football to practice, I was charged wi...

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5) by Cassandra Clare
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (5 Stars)

Clary, Jace, and Simon are back and better than ever in City of Lost Souls.  Sebastian does a great job at replacing Valentine and manipulating Jace...much to Clary's dismay.  Clary is as headstrong and committed as she's ever been...much to Simon - and her mother's - dismay.

Truly, I loved this book and felt as if I'd been transported back to  the day when I first read City of...
