Leo Sullivan, an ambitious mayoral candidate, seeks to close a dark chapter in Overbrook Meadows’ history, but the opposition is fierce. Falling for his campaign manager was never part of the plan. REVIEW: The Dalai Lama’s Cat and the Four Paws of Spiritual Success by David Michie

The Dalai Lama’s Cat is back: irreverent, vain—and as delightfully insightful as ever!

“If you’re wondering how being in the presence of an enlightened person may be communicated on the pages of book written by a flawed and complex—if extremely beautiful—cat, let me confess that my only job here is to offer you a mirror. A looking glass of a particular kind. One that reflects back not the contours of your nose or the arch of your brow, but which provides a much deeper reflection of who and wh...

REVIEW: The Ivory Cat by Sally Watson

The Egyptian gods (if they exist) are the many which is the One: innumerable aspects of a single unity living in a time-space in which all time is now and all space is here, and everything can be true at once. Normally the gods don’t meddle in human affairs, asking only that Cosmic Order be preserved. But now and then-In a moment that was all moments, a simultaneity that in human terms would one day be known as circa 1333 BC, Bastet the cat-headed goddess (if she existed) looked with interest u...

REVIEW: Tailor Made (The Grand Duchy of Finland Book 1) by Annette Lyon

Two people. An impossible task. A traitor in their midst.

Sofi’s mother desperately needs medicine, and Sofi will do anything to get it—including a one-month stay at the Brunberg mansion in Helsinki, the capital. There she’ll spend her days at the Kangas Tailor Shop, knitting silk stockings and other items from sunup to sundown for the biggest wedding of the decade. If she can do it, Sofi will have the ability to get the medicine her mother needs, with money to spare.

But Sofi’s safe world of ...

REVIEW: Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert

Illustrated cover mostly in yellow, with a bearded Brown man holding a Black woman in his arms (like a bridal carry). She has short pink hair and is wearing a black dress and heels.CW: anxiety, depression, grief

Dear Talia Hibbert,

I don’t really know what fits into the “rom com” subgenre and what just falls into the contemporary bucket. My personal preference is to regard all of them as contemporary romance and not bother about the rom com label at all. That way, if a book doesn’t strike me as funny (humour being very subjective and often mood-related) it hasn’t failed and I don’t have what might be unrealistic expectations going in. But also, I know from various discussi...

REVIEW: The Order of the Pure Moon Reflected in Water by Zen Cho

Zen Cho returns with a found family wuxia fantasy that combines the vibrancy of old school martial arts movies with characters drawn from the margins of history.

A bandit walks into a coffeehouse, and it all goes downhill from there. Guet Imm, a young votary of the Order of the Pure Moon, joins up with an eclectic group of thieves (whether they like it or not) in order to protect a sacred object, and finds herself in a far more complicated situation than she could have ever imagined.

Dear Ms....

Some Elizabeth Cadell books are now on sale.

I just noticed that some more of Elizabeth Cadell’s books are on sale at Amazon. Considering her books usually sell for $7.99, these are pretty good deals.
