Betrayal Release -The official word

I plan to publish at the end of this month, but both Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble don't provide the publisher with an exact date as to when the book will actually be available for sale.  I expect it will be the first week of April. No later.

I've received alot of emails from anxious readers who want to read my book, and want know the exact date, and as soon as I know for sure, everyone interested in purchasing Betrayal will know. I will make the announcement on my blog, so follow me:  mayandreemichel.blogspot.com , and send out an alert on my facebook page, so fan Betrayal: Mayandree Michel .

I'm really excited about the release of Betrayal thanks to the loads of enthusiasm from book bloggers who've been generous with their time to try out my book and post reviews, and the awesome bunch of readers that I hope will enjoy my story as much as I did writing it.

Still frustrated...

It seems that Goodreads, after readjusting the number of my ratings back to the five wonderful readers who have given my book a try (thanks guys), they've allowed the error to happen again and my book's showing bogus ratings and my avg is down again :(.

I did a little more investigating last night, and checked out the ratings of some other up and coming releases / author's ratings and found that the errors don't end with my book.
I just don't know how any author can have a honest presense on such the site. I want to be that type of person who says, "Oh, well, I'll just have to grin and bear it." , but I suck at being that person. Hopefully they'll get it together soon. I mean I love what the site has to offer. But it's just so frustrating ya' know.

On another note, I've been working my butt off to get the second installment of The Desendants written and I wrote around 8,000K last night! whoo hoo! I guess I work better when I'm frustrated. Mixed with several yummy cups of coffee w/ french vanilla flavored International Delights creamer. Who knows? I'm just glad that the second book in the Greek myth series is coming along nicely. I would really like to have it reader ready by Sept - Oct (fingers crossed!!)

I'm also working on another series, but it's just too early to devulge what the premise is on that one, but I think it'll be really interesting though. Thanks to my little storylines program from Writer's Cafe, I'm able to do some multi task - writing. Gosh I realy love that program.

A little frustrated...

Just wanted to address a little problem that I believe Goodreads.com may be having with tallying my ratings.
Copies of my book were distributed to a total of seven readers to review. So far three three have posted great reviews and two have given it high ratings. I really don't understand how Goodreads has a total of (11) ratings so far when only five people have rated it. My frustration came about when I saw that my average dropped from 4.60 stars to 2.09 last night???

With a little reseach on the Goodreads site, I came to the conclusion that their must be an error (although unknown to the engineers at Goodreads) that will be corrected soon. With so many books with the same name as mine, I guess this could be possible but none the less very frustrating for a new author trying to create some awareness about her up coming novel. I only hope that the members / visitors of the goodreads site, when perusing my novel will see that I've only been rated (5) times.

Don't get me wrong, I love the goodreads site! It's a great place to chat about what you love doing most: reading, and a phenominal place for authors to interact with their readers. I've made a few friends since joining a couple months ago and reccomend the site to everyone who loves to read.

On another note, I want to sincerly thank all the Goodreads readers and bloggers who have shown such great enthusiasm and interest in my book. I wrote the book because I had a great story to tell. I appreciate those who have given it a try as well as the well wishers who send me an abundance of emails. I am so excited that people have read and thoroughly enjoyed my story and want to read it. I'm on cloud nine from all the praise and excitement.

So excited to debut the cover of Betrayal!!!

I've been visualizing the cover to my novel for months, debating on which important aspects of the story to use. I couldn't be more happy with the finished product.
A special thanks to a phenominal graphic artist, Samantha Oyola, for designing such an amazing cover for my debut novel. Also congrats to Giselle Elyse Lopez on her modelling debut.

Writer's Cafe

I found this cool downloadable program that I've been using and it's great for mapping out your story. I was shocked at how easy it was to use. You're able to download the demonstration version for free to try it out. It's almost fully functional with minimal limitations -mainly the plot line function: Storylines, which is why I upgraded to the paid version ($40), but it does give you a good idea of what it can do.

One of it's features: Storylines -

Drag and drop cards (my favorite feature)

Arrange your ideas graphically in cards, as many storylines as you wish. Whether it's a simple story that might have one storyline, or a complex one with more. With Storylines you can see them all at once, or just show the one you're interested in. Storylines is an electronic version of a really long corkboard with index cards that you would put your plot points on and place them in chronological order, dividing them into chapters as you go.Ultimately there's not much you can do on Writer's Café that you can't do in real life with a pen and a piece of paper, but if you lack a space of your own to store and display your notes and plans as you work on them then It's perfect for you. I think it's great for any writer who has a large volume of notes and ideas to organise, such as someone writing historical fiction or for anyone having a whole new world to create. For more info, check out the software at: http://www.writerscafe.co.uk/index.htm

Someone asked...

Why write now? Because I always have. I'm written quite a few stories (some bad some good and a couple really good) over the last decade or so, but I only feel a couple may be ready for the rest of the world to read and meet the characters whom I've loved dearly. I believe that any feedback is good feed back whether it's good or bad. But great feedback is AWESOME!. Especially when it's from complete strangers who don't have to say they love it because they'll see you the next day and the day after that too.

On one of my favorite book reading / reviewing sites, I met a few fans of PNR that I asked to review my novel. Their praise for my most personal project was very inspiring. I loved that these avid readers found my work so enjoyable. It made my day a hundred times over.

Writing for me has always been a personal creative outlet. It's something I never thought to pursue as a career partly because I thought that since I was constantly told that the other talent (I supposedly have ) was a better avenue, as far as making it in a career goes, and that the chances of getting published was like winning the lottery.

I thought about trying to get published and over the years, I'd done some investigating on traditional publishing but never pursued it seriously. Why? Well...the other talent remember, so my stories stayed scribbled  in a stack of composition books and in my old desktop. But with the emergence of ebooks, self - publishing seems like an interesting route for a person who likes to be in full control and who puts 100%  (no matter how difficult or overwhelming) into whatever she does. Yes getting published the traditional way may be quite a hurdle but when you do it has to be easier in the end when you've got the assistance of editors and copy editors and a marketing team at your disposal.

So why would anyone go the self-publishing route? Probably because they love to write and no matter what it takes, when you love doing something, the grunt work is always worth it. So after discovering Smashwords.com, I've decided to share what I've always loved doing (far more than the other talent) with any reader whose up for some edgy young adult paranormal romance.

Edit, edit, and edit some more.

I should have spent most of the day doing just that, but I didn't. Instead I took a break and hung out with my baby boy who was under the weather. We did what any and every ten yearold boy would while home from school and that's play video games. I got creamed, as usual. After grilled cheeses, waiting for the rest of my boys ( my hubby and my other baby boy) to get home, I finally plop down to do what I love and what eats me up. Yep. Edit.

I've given my self a couple of goals: publish the first of the deity series by summer and finish editing the second in the series by fall. i can do it. just like the little train that could and did. ( hopefully!!!)

Ok, that's enough. Back to editing.
