Starglass Promo & Readercon Schedule

Good evening, lovelies!

In case you missed it, Monday saw the launch of the Starglass trailer over at io9. If you didn’t know, I made this trailer myself, out of my own blood, sweat, tears, and legally purchased stock footage. It was the first trailer I made, and started me down the path of making trailers for other authors, so it’s really very close to my heart. Plus, that girl is so Terra! Take a look:

Summertiiiiiiime . . . updates!

Good morning, gentle readers!

I had a wonderful time at BEA and, in the weeks since, have been polishing off some projects and getting ready for the launch of Starglass. We have just over a month to go! It feels like yesterday when I got the news about the offer, and now we’re so deliciously close to my little spaceship flying out of the nest, so to speak.

Oblong Books in Rhinebeck, New York is hosting my launch party. The event is on July 21st at 4 p.m. If you’re in the area and interested in...

Death of the Jealous Fairy

You take a draw of your Lucky Strike, lean in close

to learn the ritual dissection, how the other boys pin down

those tiny girl bodies, snapping the fine limbs like wish bones,

sucking that sweet dust from their sticky fingers.

There are no children clapping here, no tittering bells. Only

the tintinnabulation of little muffled shrieks, drowned out...

Poetry Sunday: The Home Under the Ground

InPeter Pan, “the home under the ground” refers to the den Wendy builds for the Lost Boys. Here, it’s a house for those left behind.

The Home Under the Ground

Mother and I lived like refugees,

eating from tin cans sliced open

with a dull parring knife, dozing away

the morning on the pull-out couch,

underneath the plaid comforter that once

made your bed (Our father, elsewhere,

sucked Camels. In your tree house,

in the garage, at the table of the Great Hall,

shedding towers of ash as he called

for more me...
