Lovecraftian Story Accepted
I just received notice that Alban Lake Publishing has accepted my short story "Judgement Chair" for one of two anthologies. Originally, Alban Lake extended calls for an anthology entitled Miskatonic Dreams, which was to have a Lovecraft influence based around Miskatonic University. According to their email, they evidently received several high-quality submissions and have decided to create a companion anthology entitled Miskatonic Nightmares, which is the book I believe "Judgement Chair" will appear (or disappear). No details beyond that on release dates or the names of other authors appearing in the two anthologies, but keep track of Alban Lake's website or my blog for updates.

SoonerCon Success
I'm back from SoonerCon, dragging in around 11:30 p.m. and getting unloaded by midnight. Yep, dragging butt (or dragon butt if we're staying with genre-related speech.) The con had their highest attendance ever in their 30 year history.
Shared my table with author/illustrator Dr. Mel. White and author/scientist (and troublemaker) John DeLaughter. He also has a cool website that science teachers I know use for fun science experiments and facts called Factismals. We all had plenty of panels. My Q&A with David Weber was SRO and some people were still trying to get in the crowded room.
The Yard Dog Press RoadShow was well-received and my story "Bloodsucking Monkeys" seemed to entertain...or maybe it was just the interpretive dance that the other authors were doing to the story. Fun stuff! Evidently Yard Dog sold out of all the copies of the new book Flush Fiction Vol. II that they brought with them. I have copies if you're interested in ordering and having them signed or Yard Dog will have copies you can order from their site. I don't have the info up on my site yet but contact me here or on Facebook and I'll get you set up. The book is only $12 + shipping. For (im)Mature Audiences.
I was also on a panel with my buddy Mark Finn. He showed me a preview copy of the new Skelos Press magazine. Man, oh man, it's a perfect bound magazine and more like a scholarly journal. CI can't wait for it to come out for July and it's only about $12.00.
Next show will probably be Fencon, although there may be a one-day show thrown in between now and Fencon. There may also be a possible signing with the new book Of Monsters & Madmen coming up in October. Only the Shadow knows...(and my shadow is shaped more like a clawed beastie that is nine feet tall with very long claws and fangs.)

SoonerCon Panels
Just a quick update before I run off to SoonerCon this weekend. most of my writing has been put on hold for a couple of reasons: The day job has been hectic and I've been putting in lots of hours leaving very little time to write. In addition, what time I have had has been spent trying to relax as I read two of David Weber's books in preparation for my Q&A with him on Saturday at SoonerCon.
So I want to talk a moment about the panels I am on. First off there's the Firefly panel and speculation on why such a cult favorite program hasn't returned. Of course the big reason is that it is difficult to coordinate schedules of everyone who was a major part of the program. But we'll see where that conversation goes.
Rock Music! How has it influenced sci-fi and fantasy...or vice versa. I immediately think of bands and performers such as Dio, Hawkwind, Yngwie Malmsteen, Yes and more.
Then there's the Yard Dog Roadshow. Not sure what Selina has planned yet, but it's always a blast and never the same show twice. t may be a murder mystery, interpretive dance while reading our new stories in Flush Fiction Vol. II or a Jerry Springer parody just to name a few possibilities. If you're easily offended this isn't the show for you. If you like your authors crazy and sometimes funny, then come on down.
Not long after I moderate the panel with David Weber I will be doing a reading. Depending on whether I read my story "Bloodsucking Monkeys" from Flush Fiction or not will determine if I read "Dangerous Pearl" from the new Skelos Magazine instead.
Then it's off to a panel on vampire archetypes. There have been many. Some have been good and some have literally sucked. I won't name names here.
Finally, on Sunday, it's how (and which) horror films have influenced the authors on the panel. I sort of grew up on the hood of a car watching movies at the drive-in, including Jaws, The Swarm, Towering Inferno and such. And many weekends I could catch a lot of Universal horror films during the afternoon. So I have plenty of media to blame on my mania.
Hope to see some of you at the panels or at the table I 'll be sharing with author/artist Mel. White.

My First GoodReads Blog-New Stories
Here we are, my first blog for GoodReads. Although I have written for many publications on such topics as writing, creativity, et al, I have never really blogged before. Quite honestly I would rather spend my time actually writing, but blogging, social networking, tweeting (still haven't bothered) are all necessary evils to get the word out.
What's the word? I have two stories definitely coming out this month and a third has a good possibility.
The first story, "Bloodsucking Monkeys," can be in a new Yard Dog Press anthology entitled "Flush Fiction Vol. II" and it is currently available on Kindle or you can get the published edition at SoonerCon in a couple of weeks. Here is the link to the book on GoodReads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
The second story is a pirate tale called "Dangerous Pearl." It is isn't the typical pirate yarn. As a matter of fact it's more suspense and horror than action/adventure. It will be coming out in the premiere issue of "Skelos Press" magazine. And to top it off, besides having other great writers and artists, there will be a previously unpublished Robert E. Howard (Conan, Solomon Kane, Kull) story. Hopefully that will garner some attention and people will read beyond REH's story and find time to enjoy my story as well as the other authors.
Next Blog: What's currently in the works.
