SoonerCon & another GoodReads Giveaway!
Well, SoonerCon is this weekend. I'm getting everything prepared for my panels and reading. Topics range from me moderating a kaiju panel to participating in panels on screenwriting, a variety of undead (vampires, zombies, etc.), Edgar Allan Poe and more.
I'll be in Artist Alley sharing a table with author/illustrator Mel. White. I believe author Rie Sheridan Rose will also be sharing our table.
Hope you can make it to the show. If you do, make sure you at least come by the table or a panel and introduce yourself.
Meanwhile, my second book, Of Monsters & Madmen will be available for a GoodReads Giveaway
The giveaway begins June 21 and goes through July 5. You'll have a holiday to relax and surf. Enter or simply purchase the Of Monsters & Madmen.
While you're surfing, don't forget the new zombie collection The Undead Ate My Head

Of Monsters & Madmen
is available. For those of you who haven't seen prior posts, the book contains eight previously released stories plus two new stories, all containing introductions and illustrations. The book can also be ordere directly from me if you'd like a signed copy, or come to SoonerCon June 23-25, 2017 and purchase copies of Of Monsters & Madmen from me at the table I'll be sharing with author Mel. White.
My other new release, the zombie collection entitled The Undead Ate My Head will be available at the Yard Dog Press booth. I'll be bouncing back and forth between tables when not in panels.
Congratulations to Brittany Sickel, winner of the Goodreads Giveaway for The Undead Ate My Head
I'll also have a few copies of other anthologies and magazines such as the premiere issue of Skelos Press , Pulptress, Vol. 2 and Pro Se Presents Winter/Spring 2014 .

Giveaway & Updates
I hope everyone had a great holiday and found some time to get in some writing or reading. I spent a large majority of the Memorial Day weekend updating the NahteWords.com website, organizing files, submitting a few stories and poems and creating promotional material for The Undead Ate My Head and Of Monsters & Madmen.
The Nahtewords.com site has a lot of new links within the site as well as to other authors and artists. The new store is still in the process of being finished. Items such as books and T-shirts for the story "Devil's Den" can be ordered. The shipping issue is hopefully the only hurdle to still overcome, as the system isn't allowing options on shipping. I hope to have that corrected before the end of this week.
Of Monsters & Madmen is closer and closer. The printer found only one formatting issue that needed correcting. Hopefully, that will be taken care of within the next day or two and I will receive the proof copy to make certain the collection is ready for purchase.
If you'd like a signed copy of The Undead Ate My Head, then give me a shout. If you aren't interested in me vandalizing your book with my mediocre handwriting, then the books are now available directly from Yard Dog Press. You'll see the link for The Undead Ate My Head right on the front page next to new books from Selina Rosen and another from Selina and Sherri Dean.
And, if you'd like to take the chance, the Goodreads Giveaway for The Undead Ate My Head will begin June 4 and last for a little over a week. All I ask is that you give it a fair and honest review once you've finished the five short stories and the novella all about zombies.

Now Available! The Undead Ate My Head
It is official--Yard Dog Press has released
The Undead Ate My Head
, a collection of short stories and a novella all dealing with zombies, written by yours truly. You can order from sites such as Amazon or you can order a signed copy from me. Just send me a message for pricing.
If you have ever read any of YDP's Bubbas of the Apocalypse series and enjoyed the stories, then hopefully you will enjoy a couple of stories that take place in the BOTA world.
A little trivia: The story "Flaming Yumbie" was actually the first BOTA story I wrote after meeting publisher/author Selina Rosen and author Tracy S. Morris at ConDFW in 2010, in hopes of selling it to YDP. As luck would have it, Selina did have an open call for submissions, but the story had to have the Bubbas and Yumbies (Yuppie Zombies, for the uninitiated) traveling in time. So I wrote and sold another story entitled "Bubbas, Barbarians and Yumbies...Oh My!" for the book A Bubba in Time Saves None .
BOTA world was so much fun, I wrote a third story which appears in the new book. It delves back to a possibility of how the zombie virus first began affecting people. The story "He Grumbled, She Bitched" shows two different points of view from a well-to-do lady and her groundskeeper.
Escaping the BOTA world, "Circle of Death" takes the reader back in time, when Europeans first began tromping through the Brazilian rainforest, spreading disease. It's not only humans that contract the undeadly virus and begin eating every living creature in sight.
Memphis is the post-apocalyptic setting for "Twinkie Trap." It may sound cute and fluffy stuffed, but the story is quite deadly.
"Attack of the Bumbies" is a humorously dark tale of some rather strange zombies around Cardiff, Wales and London, England. Even Rock Royalty is not immune to the scourge of undead creatures trying to eat them. Great Britain has Cybermen and Daleks. Why not Zombies?
The novella "Hillbilly Hell" does have bubbas, of a sort, but the story does not take place in the BOTA world. A group of college students take a wrong turn, finding themselves at an abandoned theme park that still has things to thrill and raise the heart rate, assuming the heart hasn't already been eaten.
Readers will find a combination of dark humor, horror and various body parts strewn throughout The Undead Ate My Head . If you do read my new book, please rate it, review it and let me know what you think. Enjoy!
Keep an eye out for my other collection, Of Monsters & Madmen, which should be available by the end of May.

New Books Coming Out
Yard Dog Press has accepted my collection of Undead/Living Dead/Zombie stories entitled The Undead Ate My Head. The book will have five short stories and one novella. The stories are a combination of horror and dark humor, including a couple of stories that take place in Yard Dog's Bubbas of the Apocalypse world, (FYI: I have a story in A Bubba in Time Saves None).
Artist Mitchell Bentley is doing the cover art. I've seen the preliminary artwork and I've approved a really rocking painting. Not sure if Mitchell is an Iron Maiden fan or not, but it reminds me of the inner sleeve of their Piece of Mind album. (The link to the album is the front cover and not the inner sleeve--but every metal fan should visit Iron Maiden's site and Up the Irons.)
I'm not certain of the release date, yet, but I'm hoping it will be available at Soonercon.
Meanwhile, now that I've hired author Gabrielle Faust to assist in finishing the formatting for Of Monsters & Madmen, which should also be available at Soonercon--finally. She's done so much more than in such a short time than I managed. So that's great news!
And if you love apocalyptic/dystopian settings along with vampires (not your typical vampires either), then I recommend checking out some of Gabrielle's writing. Not to mention her artwork.
I have copies of Miskatonic Nightmares available, which includes my Lovecraftian story "The Judgment Chair." Contact me to order a signed copy.

Vote for my poem!
Hey everyone, asking you for a favor. My poem "Death by a Comanche Moon" is in a weekly poetry contest. It's a historical poetic piece. As you may be able to tell by the title, this is not a lovey-dovey poem, so for those of you who think all poetry is sappy material, here's something different.
The contest deadline is Sunday(3/26) night. You'll have to register (FREE) to read and vote.
All I am asking is 3-5 minutes of your time (5-10 minutes if you are signing up for the first time). Just click the poem title above.
Read "Death by a Comanche Moon"
If you actually like it, click the LIKE button at the end of the poem before Sunday at midnight (EST)
Please pass the word around and send the link to others. I appreciate your time and hope that you enjoy what you read.

MidSouthCon & Writing Update
First thing's first--I'll be at MidSouthCon in Memphis this coming weekend (3/24-3/26). I'll be floating between tables with some of the publishers where I have stories published. I'll be in a few panels an at the autograph table at least once.
I've been writing when I can and have a new Cthulhu mythos story that's made it past the slushpile for an anthology. Just waiting to hear if it makes it in the book where there are only 15 slots available.
Another story related to an alternative to the world of the Three Musketeers is near completion for another anthology. Hopefully that will be submitted by the end of this week.
A few other stories have been finished or are in some stage of completion, so time to take a day to seek homes to submit about a dozen different stories.
An earlier version of my flash fiction story Bloodsucking Monkeys can be read for free at 4 Star Stories in their Short Issue Vol. 2 alongside five other authors. A slightly different version appears in the Yard Dog Press anthology Flush Fiction Vol. II with a couple dozen authors.
Formatting the anthology Of Monsters & Madmen finally drove me insane and, with the day job, I simply do not have the time to dedicate and concentrate on the book. So I have sent the project off to someone else who believes they can get it all in order and reformatted. I won't have it in time for MidSouthCon, Fingers are crossed for releasing at SoonerCon. Hoping to have it finished and mailed out to those of you who purchased a copy in advance by May.

ConDFW review
I attended ConDFW for the first time in three years. Rachel Caine and R. Cat Conrad were the primary guests of honor, held for the first time in Fort Worth, Texas.
The con seems to have shrunk in attendance, perhaps due to a combination of a new location in an area with horrible road construction (destruction is more like it) issues and another convention happening in Dallas the same weekend. Regardless, I was a part of several interesting panels, battling through with a hoarse voice and stuffy nose.
Sales weren't as great as I had hoped. Once again, the attendance was somewhat low. I did have some sales, including selling all the copies of the book incorrectly mailed to me Miskatonic Dreams , which is the sister book to the anthology I am in entitled, Misaktonic Nightmares . Both are great reads if you are into Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos or simply enjoy cosmic horror.
I saw some of my regular fans as well as other artists and vendors that I haven't seen in a few months. I was able to talk shop with a few authors, bouncing ideas off one another to hopefully help each other out for selling stories, novels, and publicity ideas. Which is what I am currently working on--following up on the potential leads and ideas discussed.
But first, let me get back to checking on my ceiling which has sprung a leak in this rain and currently dripping into a trash can in my living room.

ConDFW XVI
I've been a bit absent on here just due to schedules and health. My apologies as I type this with a cat trying to help (or impair) my blog entry.
Late notice but I will be attending ConDFW XVI in Fort Worth this weekend. They have changed the venue this year to the Radisson Hotel Fort Worth Fossil Creek. I'll be sharing a table and selling books and merchandise alongside author/illustrator Mel. White as well as participating on panels, moderating a panel or two, doing a reading from the new Pulptress Vol. 2 that one of my stories appears in, and being a part of the infamous Yard Dog Roadshow.
Hope to see you at the panels or stop by the table and say hello. C-ya there!

New Works
It's the end of 2016 and a couple of new anthologies are out containing some of my work for those of you interested.
First of all is Miskatonic Nightmares from Alban Lake Publishing. The book came out back in October, but for those of you who may have missed my blog about it, here you go. It contains several stories all dedicated to Lovecraft's Cthulu and Elder gods mythos at the infamous university where dreadful things tend to happen. I'm finally getting a chance to read it and have enjoyed the stories I have finished.
And brand new from Pro Se Press is The Pulptress, Vol. 2. The main character is a kick ass female who goes after the bad guys presented in pure pulp style. Lots of action, lots of evil geniuses and otherworldly type beings she has to take on. The Pulptress is a fun character that would be of interest to those who are fans of The Shadow, Green Hornet, The Spirit and so forth.
For those who pre-ordered copies of my first collection Of Monsters & Madmen, it's been a bust winter with the real-world job, but I have found time to contact the publisher to find out what the trouble is with formatting the book. Hopefully I'll be receiving an answer soon so the issue can be resolved and the book can be sent out to you patient fans and ready to premiere at ConDFW in Fort Worth February 2017.
Keep reading, keep writing.
