Amazon Purging Reviews?

I happened to wander over to Joe Konrath’s blog today and noticed the top story was about Amazon purging reviews. It seems in response to a recent cry by independent authors for Amazon to police their reviews, they’ve begun using a heavy-handed algorithm which hunts for reviews by people that might be linked to the author and removes them.

This is pretty disturbing, and it gets even worse, check out the blog article below for more details…

So I just emerged from my editing cave (my second draft...

Lucasfilm-Disney Merger Reconsidered

When I first heard Disney had acquired Lucasfilm I was like…

I felt like a million nerdly dreams had cried out in agony, and were silenced…

But then, I was like…

Hmmmm…..Y’no…..Maybe….

This might be…

After all, what has Lucas really done with it?

The only good thing Lucas himself actually did was Star Wars: A New Hope. (Which is really only a step away from being a Tarentino movie if you understand where most of it really comes from.)

Everything else he did pretty much sucked.

The Empire Strikes back...

Wow, that is just cool! Oldschool Stilt Walkers

Now I have to think of a Martial Art to go along with this! That would be awesome!

The practical workaround for this problem started with shepherds, but gradually spread to anyone, including postal carriers and law enforcers, who needed to move vast distances quickly. They wore stilts. And not small ones, either. Any stiltwalker perched about three and a half feet up, and some had stilts that were much higher. They carried a long cane that reached to the ground which they would lean on wheneve...

Do American Comics still mean Superhero Comics?

My friend Don C. proposed an interesting theory to me last night when we were talking, he said that in his educated opinion (and he does know a lot about comics) the age of the Superhero Comic in North America was finished. That while there are still Superhero comics being sold, their future is as limited as their sales. (In the late 1980′s and early 1990′s, Marvel Comics were selling close to a million copies per title for their top tier, now they sell close to a million comics for their ent...

Who was the most badass military commander in history?

Today, while listening to the amazing Hardcore History podcast about The Mongol Invasions, I learned the answer to that question-

THIS GUY!

Subutai (1176–1248) was the primary military strategist and general of Genghis Khan and Ögedei Khan. He directed more than twenty campaigns in which he conquered thirty-two nations and won sixty-five pitched battles, during which he conquered or overran more territory than any other commander in history. He gained victory by means of imaginative and sophist...

Discworld City Watch Television Series | The Mary Sue

I’m a HUGE Diskworld and Night Watch fan, so this is great news for me! Supposedly it will air in 2014. A long wait, but likely worth it! :-)

It’s been known that a Discworld television show based in the fictional city of Ankh-Morpork and the cast of characters it is associated with has been in various stages of preproduction discussion for more than a year now. In fact, there’s even video evidence of Sir Terry Pratchett talking with writers about coppers starting up an inter-species band, the t...
