AHHH YOUR BOOK<3 I actually started to read the book because it was recommended on Veronica Roth’s blog. I LOVE IT! SO glad I decides to give it a try, and I can’t wait to read the 2nd book. I was sooo rooting for the Darkling and Alina, but he turned o

Thank you so much for taking a chance on Shadow and Bone and for getting in touch! I’m glad you liked it. (I just met Veronica last weekend. She’s completely delightful. And can rock a pair of mint green jeans like nobody’s business.)

Alas, I don’t know where you can find a guy like Mal. Probably somewhere in Tsibeya? As for how to get to Tsibeya, well, I’m still the girl who walks into every wardrobe thinking she’ll find Narnia waiting in the back ;)

Everyone’s favorite Etherealki, Zoya: the Squaller you love to hate! She’s like the Regina George of Ravka. She’s fabulously bitchy.

Just a little somethin somethin I made for Leigh Bardugo’s The Gathering Dark/Shadow and Bone. Had to feature Alina and the Darkling because of reasons. Please redeem yourself, my scary lovely broody Darkling.

Used Ashley Greene and Sean O’Pry.

Wow! Graphic using the UK title of Shadow and Bone.

theparisreview:

Wherever I look you are islands

a constellation of flowers breathing on the sea

deep-forested islands mountainous and fragrant

fires on a bright ocean

at the root one fire

all my life I have wanted to touch your ankle

running down to its shore

I beach myself on you

I listen

I see you among still leaves

regard of rock pool

by sun and moon and stars

island waterfalls and their echoes

are your voice your shoulders the whole of you standing

and you turn to me as though your feet were in mist

flowers birds same colors

as your breath

the flowers deliberately smell of you

and the birds make their feathers

not to fly but to

feel of you

I had a philosophy prof, one of the most brilliant and worst-dressed men I’ve ever met. He once told me, “I don’t read poetry so I can talk about it at cocktail parties. I read it because it’s the last place where heightened language exists.”

Yes to this.

1. I just started reading Shadow and Bone and LOVE IT. The Darkling is so wonderfully scary and sexy, a refreshing male lead in YA. 2. You're a fan of ATLA/LoK? One million more points for you! Who are your favorite characters and why, if I might ask? :)

So glad you’re enjoying Shadow and Bone!

My favorite character is probably Zuko because he isn’t ever just one thing. I actually love that about a lot of the characters in ATLA.

I adore Korra herself. When the series first started, I thought, “Hmm, she’s so OTT spunky, can I really like this girl?” And the answer was a resounding YES. When we finally see vulnerability in her, it’s so powerful and I love that she pushes through it and becomes stronger for it.

And… well, I’m a bit of an #amorra shipper. In fact, I was lucky enough to do a podcast with Mike DiMartino and ended up trying to explain the appeal of Amon and badboys everywhere. It’s here (#11), but be warned the language and some of the content is most definitely NSFW.

Had a go at designing the keftas for shadow and bone! This draft design is based heavily on Slovakian kaftans. The top is more Russian based whereas the length of the kefta is based on Hungarian/Bulgarian lengths. I left space on the cuffs so that individual designs for each grisha can be placed there. I haven’t added any details etc which would suggest the texture and heaviness of the material but I’m guessing it would be smooth but thick.

gorgeous.

I woke up this morning with an epiphany: no one has done this already (as far as I know), so it was up to me to make it exist.

You’re welcome.
