I’ve been waiting for you a long time, Alina. You and I are going to change the world.
-Shadow and Bone, by Leigh Bardugo.
Ten Reasons Shadow and Bone is best:
1.) The author is amazingly talented and the world she created is glorious and fun
2.) The Darkling
3.) Alina
4.) Darkling/Alina
5.) Mal
6.) Mal/Alina
7.) Genya
8.) The rest of the Grisha
9.) The Darkling
10.) Basically every aspect of the book.
Seriously. I can’t gush enough. If you need any other reasons, check out my review

The Shadow Fold that you have to pass through to get to the dining room. You can’t see them through the darkness of course but there are volcra that will attack if you aren’t careful!

I just listened to your Interview with Lytherus, and I take it Ruin & Rising is finished? Written? Currently in the process of being published?!
The first draft of Ruin and Rising has been done for a while, but I won’t start revisions until later this summer. (Nothing will change radically, but trust me, you do not want to read the existing draft.)
As far as I know, it will be published next year in May or June. Sorry for the wait!

He shook his head. “This is all wrong.” The look on his face almost undid me. It was lost, startled, like a little boy standing alone in the ruin of a burning village. “Please, Alina,” he said softly. “Please. This can’t be how it ends.” - Mal Oretsev, Siege and Storm
