Plot, Originality, and the Value of Ideas

Plot, Originality, and the Value of Ideas:

My short answer to the question is: no, I don’t check to see if another book has a similar plot. Because chances are very good that another book does. There are, after all, millions of books out…

This is good on writing-y things and why we read and how stories work and all that jazz.

Isn’t it though?

LOVE this post. Great thoughts on the romance of the big idea and on the value of recurring tropes in genre.

Hi Leigh!!! I can't believe the ending! I finished the series, but I feel that the character's stories aren't over just yet. Will we see some of the charachters in The Dregs? Will you write a short story like 10 years in the future or something similar so

I have a plan. A long term plan. (A cunning plan?)

For now, I can tell you that you won’t see much of the characters from the trilogy in the first book of The Dregs, but you’ll certainly hear about them. The action takes place after the events in Ruin and Rising, and the repercussions of the Ravkan civil war are being felt around the world.

As for later books, see above re plan.

I love this pic. Marissa looks so full of joy and kindness. And I look like I’m thinking about using my straw as a shiv.

I was planning on doing something cool and complicated and awesome before the Grove Block Party involving all of the Grisha trilogy ladies but then I panicked and ran out of time and had This Idea.

It’s my goal in life to draw every character in this shirt and for Alina Starkov, it’s uncannily fitting.

I’m sorry but this is basically the best thing I’ve ever seen.
