Books for Younger Boys!
I remember the first book I ever read cover to cover, I even remember some of the imagery I experienced while reading it. For those of you who have read my bio, you know to which book I am referring. As I think back on that portion of my life, I am struck by how little there was for a young boy to read (tried to read Ivanhoe, but it was just too much to handle for someone just getting into books). I had a friend who was into Louis L’Amour, but westerns have never been my thing, even when I be...

Get Reviews to Learn, not to Sell Books
Reviews from readers are absolute GOLD for an author, but not for the reasons you might expect. As an author, I have come to see reviews from readers as not a way to convince others to read the book too (and become fabulously famous, haha), though they do have that potential. They have become a way to find out how I can improve as a writer.
I rarely, if ever, hear authors speak of reviews in this way. This is why honest reviews are so, so important to an author, and the reason you should do ev...

Reader Interview with Kimika Le
Welcome Ms. Le!
Q. How do you go about choosing a book to read?
I go for the superficial way. I look at a cover and I’m like, “Ooh! Pretty!”
Then, I pick it up and read the description. If it strikes a fancy, I end up picking it up and buying it.
Nowadays, however, being part of the wider blog community has given me an eye for looking at book titles and checking the reviews before I buy it and disappoint myself. Still, I always am more attracted to the prettier covers even when I visit my go-to b...

He peered through his dark glasses at what was left of the small sign for the Lion’s Head Inn outside. Beyond it, where once was a small village of two or three cobble stoned roads in the grip of a wintry landscape, there was now nothing. Emptiness.
“Curse that sergeant-major,” he mumbled through the thick bandages that wrapped around his entire head. “I only w...

Being a well to do gentleman, Dorian went out often, but not tonight. Instead, Dorian Grey sat in front of his mirror with a frown splayed across his face that caused his lips to thin almost to the point of disappearance. With his index finger, the young man traced a line that stretched laterally across his forehead. The crease in the once pristine skin had app...

Writers are nothing if they are not read. The interest shown in my work over the last few months, especially on Goodreads, has been nothing short of gratifying and I thank everyone who has shown interest in Absolom Rex and The Darkwater Adventurer series.
Believe it or not, I know who most of you are! Thanks to Goodreads ability to show which members are showing interest in your books. It is fun to see your profiles and who you are as a person (or at least what you have chosen to share with th...

The tea was made and the places set; so the Hatter waited, but six o’clock had not arrived. The March Hare wasn’t paying attention as he desperately discussed various ideas on how to make the Dormouse’s chair smaller even though the Dormouse was fast asleep.
“Hare!” shouted the Hatter. The rabbit looked up momentarily from under the table. “What have you done with s...
