Blurb
Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?
Neat freak lab tech, Lily Banner lives her life as any ordinary human. She’s dedicated to her work and loves to hang out with her friends at Dante’s Circle, their local bar. When she discovers a strange blue dust at work she meets a handsome stranger holding secrets – and maybe her heart. But after a close call with a thunderstorm, she may not be as ordinary as she thinks.
Shade Griffin is a warrior angel sent to Earth to protect the supernaturals’ secrets. One problem, he can’t stop leaving dust in odd places around town. Now he has to find every ounce of his dust and keep the presence of the supernatural a secret. But after a close encounter with a sexy lab tech and a lightning quick connection, his millennia old loyalties may shift and he could lose more than just his wings in the chaos.

Excerpt
The motorcycle vibrated beneath Shade as he pulled off the side of the road and parked. The rain pelted him, the cold seeping into his bones, but he shrugged it off. He was in northern Washington and this seemed to be the norm in terms of weather.
He lifted his leg and got off the bike, ignoring the stares of the women around him. They watched him stroll, his powerful legs leading to long strides. He’d tucked his wings into the slits into his back to hide the fact he was an angel, but he couldn’t hide his face or the fact that women seemed to fawn over it.
It had been a long time since he had a woman. Not since that were jaguar a century or two ago in a night of deep depression and loneliness for him. But the heat, claws and desperation and only served to fill a physical need that left him even lonelier than before. From then on he left his carnal needs up to his hand. Before the jaguar it had been even longer, but he didn’t want to think about her. The one he’d lost. She was long since gone.

Inside Carrie Ann Ryan’s Mind
First, thank you so much for having me here today, Eden. I love the way you work with people and I’m honored to count you as a friend.
[Eden] I’m thrilled to have you here and feel the same about you, Carrie Ann.
What is your idea of perfect happiness? For me it is to be content with what I have and to feel blessed with it. It’s not wanting more or trying to be who I’m not, but knowing that what I have is right for me. As long as I’m healthy and have my family by my side, the only other thing I need is a good book. Oh, and Diet Coke. That seems to make me happy as well. LOL
What turns you on creatively? I think images of landscapes or expiring on my own makes my mind go “Wait. Stop. Listen. Learn.” When that happens I can close my eyes and imagine I’m there…then my characters can join me.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? LOL, after all, and was. I can’t seem to stop using them. I also IM my crit partner so much that instead of showing laughter in a scene, I just want to write LOL and be done with it. (LOL)
What quality do you most admire in a man? His ability to be strong, yet open at the same time.
What quality do you most admire in a woman? See the above for what I put for a man.
What is your greatest regret? That I went to a place four years ago trying to do something I didn’t want to do, but thought that was the only path for me. I’m glad I found out the truth.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I want to be healthy. I’m so sick of the constant pain and I’d like to be able to move more so I can get healthy. It’s a constant cycle.
What is your greatest fear? With life: That I’ll get sick again. With my writing: That no one will read.
[Eden] I think we share similar fears, but we don’t let them rule our lives.
Which living person do you most admire? My mom. She’s so strong, yet I didn’t know it until it was almost too late.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I’ve done the chemistry lab thing, the teaching thing, and now the writing thing. I think next on my list is to be a mom.
If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? I’ve always wanted to fly…maybe a bird? But not a pigeon, though that would be my luck.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Taking that leap of faith and actually publishing.
What is the trait you most deplore in others? Self-pity.
What is your greatest extravagance? Books. Honestly that’s the only thing I buy…but I buy A LOT.
What is one thing you want to do before you die? I’ve been around the world as a kid, I’d like to do it again with my husband by my side.
What is your favorite music (genre/artist/album/song)? Country or Alt Rock. I’m odd, I know.
What are some of your favorite curse words? When I stub my toe I usually scream “shit mother fucker” loudly. In public. I blame my mom for that.
What is your motto? Grow up, learn, move on.
Thanks Eden, for having me!
Thank you Carrie Ann for coming on my blog, and it was my pleasure to have you. You are always welcome to come back.
Readers, please leave a comment and you can win a great package from Carrie Ann. Check it out! I will draw for the winner in a week’s time.

Winds of Change by Mary Metcalfe
I met Mary while doing the Indies Unite for Joshua fundraiser. She’s a generous, kind-hearted author, and I’m happy to offer her space here to talk about her newest book.
Please read what Mary has to say about Winds of Change and watch her book trailer.

In Mary’s Own Words
I’ve always read that you should write about what you know. And in a very real sense, I am with Winds of Change. While I did extensive research on Boston, sailing and plant varieties, the ‘what I know’ part came from my heart. Readers will see a theme in my novels – disparate people being brought together and blending to build a new family. It’s what I didn’t have as a child and grew up yearning for. Now my characters will get their happy ever after because it’s my book and we’ll work together to make it happen!

Excerpt
I’m going out on an official dinner date. Jennifer rolled that thought around in her head as she closed up for the night and got the kettle ready for her morning tea. A real date with a good-looking man who looks to have some fire left in him.
Getting ready for bed, she wandered over to her closet and turned on the light inside. What to wear tomorrow night? She dug into the back of the closet and drew out her favorite little black dress. It was a classic. She checked the size tag and realized with some surprise it might actually be loose on her. Between yoga, spinning and all her other activities she had come down at least one size and maybe two.
Oh happy day, she thought. At last, a dress that didn’t shrink in the closet when I wasn’t looking. She decided to try it on just to be sure. A moment later she looked at herself in the mirror. Even without makeup she had to agree she still looked pretty good. No high heels any more but the copper-toned patent pumps looked pretty. Add a bit of jewelry, a wide belt to show off her trimming waistline and she might turn a head or two. Just one certain head would be fine.
I have a date! Better get my beauty sleep, she thought, and toddled off towards the large roomy bed that might have a visitor soon. She mentally wiped out that thought, ordering herself to get her mind back into safer territory. But, the idea snuck right back in. The handsome man she’d secretly lusted after for years was now flesh and blood. And, he was a completely down to earth human being who was fascinating to talk to and very easy to look at. Who knew a man could be eye candy at his age?
Jennifer mentally chided herself for letting her imagination run wild. But, it wasn’t her imagination. Ben was very real, very male and very, very tempting. Who could resist? She smiled dreamily and snuggled into her pillow.

Mary lives and breathes writing and editing. When not working as a writer/editor in her day job, she’s editing novels and manuscripts or working on one of her novels. With Winds of Change as her debut in women’s fiction, New Beginnings will follow this fall with a strong suspense angle. Road to Tomorrow comes up next and continues her small-town series featuring a cast of warm and not-so-warm characters. Each of Mary’s novels deal with social and medical issues as sub-themes. Winds of Change explores PTSD and clinical depression, while New Beginnings looks into the socio/psychopathic personality. Road to Tomorrow exposes some of the life-changing effects of Traumatic Brain Injuries through a secondary character. Never clinical, each story is focused on the main characters and their journey towards a more fulfilling future.
Mary coined the moniker Lakefront Muse to reflect on the influence living by the water in rural Quebec, Canada has on her writing inspiration. A lifelong swimmer and Cancerian water baby, being by the water allows her a place to let her imagination work its magic.
