Story for the Day: Pardon

Chapter 3 of "Tales from Frewyn: the Opera"!  The image Twisk is currently working on for the cover. I love it!!
Pardon                 The early evening sky was beginning to favour the capital with its vibrant hues, and the commander remarked the coming of night from her place in the barracks while discussing with Tomas where the new weapon racks were to be placed along the far wall of the yard. She heard a few of the blacksmith's quiet and humble words, but the brilliancy of the setting sun m...

Story for the Day: The Announcement

Here is chapter 2 of "Tales from Frewyn: The Opera". Enjoy!

The Announcement                 The placards and posters announcing Mad Queen Maeve's tenth iteration were taken away and a new announcement was set in its place, one for a new play of certain distinction, whose book was written by Marridon's champion auteur and whose songs were composed by the Triumvirate's leading Maestro. Many began to bustle about the Royal Theatre in hopes of catching a glimpse of rehearsals or hearing an early ...

Story for the Day: The Royal Theatre

Here is the first chapter from the new Haanta Series Novella: Tales from Frewyn: The Opera
The Royal Theatre                  Beyond the main portion of Diras castle keep, between the memorial garden, dedicated to the kings and queens of Frewyn's past, and the latrine tower, a place where everyone in the keep must visit but where no one wished to venture, was the Royal Theatre. It was called royal due to its origin in being constructed for the enlivenment and entertainment of the king and...

Weekend Special: Commander and Den Asaan for only 99¢

This weekend is a special weekend in Haanta Series history:

Twisk, the creature of legend and object of much confoundment and curiosity, is visiting for the very first time. A year and a half ago we started the Haanta Series together, and we have been friends and creative partners ever since. For the past six months, I had been trying to persuade her of visiting our home and - what ho! She's finally here.

In honour of her visit, Commander and Den Asaan is on sale until Monday for only 99¢.

Enjo...

Story for the Day: Mixed Chocolates

The café, though a great favourite with the Lucentian moneylenders and tradesmen in the Frewyn capital, was also a favourite with Soledhan. Every day after the first half of his lesson had done and his parents had gained their first repose from training, he made it his object to beg them to go thither. He must look at the display of cakes, he must watch the churning vats of various chocolate vintages, he must try everything that was new, and Rautu must agree with him. He could not agree with ...

Story for the Day: The Duchess of Marridon

The Dutchess of Marridon is a major character in the Haanta Series novels. She is mentioned in the novella "The Reporter from Marridon", but only enters the series in book 2. Here is Her Grace's entrance:

The Duchess of Marridon was a tall, thin and upright woman, made so by many years of stays and finery to decorate her person and of having to keep a certain countenance in front of so many spectators at the Chambers. She was a woman of unexceptionable breeding: she spoke well, walked with...

How I write 10,000 words a day (part 2)

As part of my inspirational series, I write articles to help writers write more and more every day. Below is an article I did for a writing site:

Many people ask how I write and what I write.

I write two chapters a day and usually a short story to post on the official Haanta Series website. This amounts to about ten-thousand words a day. I am aware that may seem like an unconquerable lot, but if one considers how much one writes in emails, through messengers, and over social sites in a give...
