New and shiny!

It's a strange thing, the idea of new. It really depends on the angle a person is coming from.

I have two new releases coming up in the next few months. First, the new Elm Books mystery anthology, Death and a Cup of Tea, is scheduled for a Black Friday release. All the words are in place, and it's just a matter of formatting now. Very exciting. All of the authors were a dream to work with, as was the extraordinarily talented copy editor Mary Ardagna. I think we're going to have an exceptional collection to present.

Also, Fool's Gold is coming from BSB, appropriately enough, on April Fool's Day. I think it's the best thing I've written so far. I'm ridiculously proud of it, and I hope that readers will enjoy it as well.

But although all of these things are so new to everyone outside of Casa Faraday--so new that they're not even new YET, but WILL BE new at some future point, I've been working on them for a long time! So while I'm trembling with excitement over Shiny New Releases, the definition of New, here at Casa Faraday is a bit different.

The most wonderful time of the year

Is Halloween, of course, but in second place is Bent-Con, coming up this weekend in Burbank.

I'll be there with some of your favorite Bold Strokes Books authors. Come by our booth, and get free books (with purchase)--as well as all sorts of fun swag. I can say swag, right? It hasn't been an "it" word for at least 5 years, I don't think.

Looking forward to seeing Marshall Thornton, Dan Kelly, and all sorts of great folks! It's a small, exceedingly friendly con. Come by and say hi!

Fool's Gold

[caption id="attachment_1543" align="alignright" width="205"] Coming in 2015 from Bold Strokes Books. Coming in 2015 from Bold Strokes Books.[/caption]Ira Adler's third novel, Fool's Gold is a bit of a departure, literally and figuratively. The other books have been set in different parts of late 19th century London. This one is split between London and Central California.

I've been trying to figure out what sort of teasers I might put out there that wouldn't be spoilers. It's difficult! So here's the first of them -- the "historical notes." Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to try to figure out what roles these figures might play in an Ira Adler story.

Ready? GO!

Fool's Gold is slated for an April 1 release.

Review!

One of the stories from our Elm Books anthology, "Death and the Detective" made the list of "Best Mystery Story I read This Week" on Little Big Crimes. LINK

Thanks for the review, folks! That was one of my favorite stories to edit, and one of my favorite collections.

Congratulations to Julianna Comyn, Jessamin Gardner, and Yvette Franklin!

From the point of view of someone who worked intimately with each of these stories, I can assure you that they are exceptional and well deserving of accolades.

Turnbull House is out, and has already received a very humbling and highly complimentary review from Lisa Horan at The Novel Approach.
