What to do when life happens without our permission!

This young beautiful and talented woman had BIG Dreams while pursuing her life's goals when the news hit hard: Cancer out of Remission.

"Noooooo, I have BIG dreams!" she said.

Life consists of many happy moments for which we can be grateful for; however, some sad moments we experience teach us how to be grateful for what we have in the here and now.

The phrase ""OMG is a fact of life!"
Sometimes life happens without our permission and here's one example.

As a freelance writer I'm reminded of a saying back in the 1970's that went something like, "every rain garden needs a little rain".

As a baby boomer and not new to the concept that 'life happens without our permission,' I'd like to offer a few suggestions to dealing with 'life's happens-stance and circumstance'

It's a fact of life that sometimes life happens without our permission and this is but one example. Life consists of many happy moments for which we can be grateful for; however, some sad moments we experience teach us how to be grateful for what we have in the here and now.

As a freelance writer, interviewer, and trilingual interpreter, I'm reminded of a saying back in the 1970's that went something like, "every rain garden needs a little rain".

Not new to the concept that 'life happens without our permission' I'd like to offer a few suggestions to dealing with 'life's happens-stance and circumstance'.

Following are four self-nurturing bits to assist on this self-nurturing path:

(1) Look for the beauty around you: For every little bit of time, please make the time to look at the beauty that surrounds you; the flower, the tree, the blade of grass, the cloud, the breeze, the ant on the ground, the fragrance from that flower, these are a few mentioned to help to nurture your immune system.

(2) Laugh within yourself: One of the most strengthening components of self-healing is the quality of self-laughter. Many of us take it for granted, but don't let that happen to you at this stage in your life. Please feel free to laugh at your own foible, for example: The times when you said ___, when you meant___.

(3) Pray for strength: When you pray for strength you'll sense that you're not alone; because it is a fact that you're not alone. Every time you pray to what you believe, you'll always have the sense that you're not alone. That's the reason you're praying. This is so powerful and nurturing!

(4) Set goals for yourself: You should always have something to shoot for, be it the moon, the stars, the cotton-candy stand, the chocolate bar: just go for it!

(5) You're still here so live, love, laugh! The best part of being who you are today is the fact that you can live in today, love who you are, laugh at the funnies around you... and there are MANY!!

Realistically, we as humans are here but for a flicker of time so when life happens without our permission let's wipe our tears, don't show our hurt, and look forward to our BIG DREAMS!

With that said.... Enjoy every millisecond of your LIFE!

I hope this article has brought some nurturing to your human physique and soul.

Well, Hello There...

Today's message is very simple:

If we want love, then we must eliminate fear. Love knows no boundaries.

If we want peace, then we must become peaceful. Become the peace we want to see in others.

If we want harmony, then we must cooperate. Let's find ways to serve others and work as a team.

If we want laughter, then join we must join in the laughter. We can’t take ourselves too serious.

If we want fulfillment, then we must be grateful. we must be extremely grateful for what we have.

Life as a whole is that of giving and receiving. Let’s put forth our time, energy, and effort and share in the love, peace, harmony, laughter, and fulfillment that awaits us.

Yesterday Was 'Happiness Day'... But We Can Still Be Happy Today

March 20th, 2014 was "World Happiness Day" and we were encouraged to SMILE.
I also read somewhere that "Peace Begins with a Smile". Wow, that's so true!
If we want output, we must place input.
If we want results we must place effort.
If we want to get there, we must get started.
This law is very exact, even in Nature.
If we want apples we plant apple seeds, if we want flowers we plant flower seeds.
We won’t get a blueberry if we plant a strawberry.

For every effort we place in a specific direction, the result is very specific for that effort.
For example:
If we want love, then we must eliminate fear. Love knows no boundaries. If we want peace, then we must become peaceful. Become the peace we want to see in others. If we want harmony, then we must cooperate. Find ways to serve others and work as a team. If we want laughter, then join we must join in the laughter. We can’t take ourselves too serious. If we want fulfillment, then we must be grateful. Extremely grateful for what we have.  Just something to think about on the topic of "Happiness".
Life as a whole is that of giving and receiving; so let’s put forth our time, energy, and effort so we may share in the love, peace, harmony, laughter, and fulfillment that awaits us.

It's A Great Day To Be On This Side Of The Grass

Well, Hello There...

Wow...  Times Flies...

It's Already March !!!

Remember back in November I said I'd share some personal challenges and solutions in 2014?
Well here we go because I'm hoping to make a positive difference in somebody's life somewhere.

This New Year 2014 began with a wonderful professional goal I'd set for myself, however, as mentioned in prior posts, sometimes our plans need adjustments for reasons out of our control. But hey that's okay, because we move forward. We don't stand still and we don't stagnate.

No, no no, -- see my right index finger going side to side? -- SMILE.

My professional goal for 2014 was to upgrade my interpreter certification, but OMG... some things have come my way and I'm bewildered. Hmmm....

I find it very interesting that for several decades my friends, family, and coworkers placed me on a high pedestal for my many accomplishments in life because when I started to learn the English Language I became fascinated and an over-achiever. Yes, I have degrees, diplomas, plaques, ribbons, certificates, awards, trophies; yes even gold, silver, and bronze medals. But the downfall to all that success was that I used to cry in silence. I felt I was alone and had to put on a strong front because that's how they saw me. They labeled me strong, wise, intelligent, and well-spoken. Honestly considering where I come from; a migrant farm working Texan non-English speaking cotton-picker way into my adult years... Yes, I've come a long way.

Fact is that I finally shared my sadness with someone and found that I wasn't alone. While pursuing my Degree in Psychology, I learned that our minds have many rooms and we have choices.

It's a fact that the mind has many, many rooms, but with these many rooms are also trap doors that lead to darker recesses. Many of us have fallen therein not realizing how we landed so unexpectedly!

Today I'd like to share one of our greatest gifts...

The gift of thinking. And when used properly, we can 'think, process, and choose wisely'.

The variety of life experiences that each of us has allows us the opportunity to live, learn, and attain wisdom for a better life while we're here on earth. Better yet, the opportunity to share our life, our lessons learned, and our wisdom with others.

Setbacks happen to us all, yes we cry, we feel sad, but we wipe our tears and we re-focus.

I'd like to share some tips for moving forward when we encounter a setback as I'm encountering right now because...

We Can Do This!
Let’s avoid negative self-calling. Calling ourselves “stupid, incompetent, and/or idiot” only reinforces the pessimistic side of us. All humans have some inclination towards pessimistic thinking, so beware! Did you know that if this pessimism is repeated often enough it will become part of our being? There‘s a saying that goes like this, “As a man thinketh, so he is” or “As a woman thinketh, so she is”.Let’s forgive ourselves. Everyone makes mistakes; the key is not to dwell on those mistakes, but rather to learn from them. Did you know that experts became masters using this one important key? Forgiving Oneself. So let’s forgive ourselves, learn, and move on.Let’s be grateful for what we have. Maybe our list could include our health, our family, our loved one, our home, our dog, our friends; the list once again is endless. Picking just a few to be grateful about will help us stay out of ‘the rooms with the trap doors’.Let’s know that our emotions are transient. Thankfully we are gifted with this awesome gift of resiliency. Life happens! There are happy times, there are sad times, and they all come and go. Some stay longer while some are short lived. Whatever emotion we are feeling right now, will pass in moments. It’s natural to like the pleasant emotions better, but if it weren’t for the uncomfortable emotions, we couldn’t appreciate the pleasant ones. For BEST results, let's put these steps to practice and realize that --- It's A Great Day To Be On This Side Of The Grass!

Let's enjoy the fresh air and sunshine for a happier and healthier life.

Till next time, keep that chin up and look forward.

PEACE !!

2014... and Your Positive Potential

Three decades ago I sat on a park bench contemplating a life-changing decision I’d have to make. I was fully aware that this decision would affect me the rest of my life. It was one of the most difficult decisions for my age of that time.
It was mid afternoon in late May and as I sat on that park bench an elderly gentleman slowly walked in front of me, then sat next to me “A penny for your thoughts” he said.
We chatted a bit (mind you, this was before creepy stuff) and I noticed the words ‘knowledge’ and ‘wisdom’ kept coming up.
Not being English language savvy yet, I asked, what’s the difference between knowledge and wisdom? Here’s what I got from that elderly gentleman and our conversation. He said, ‘attaining knowledge means gathering bits and pieces of information to be filed for later use; wisdom on the other hand, is applying that knowledge to create a profitable learning experience’.
Acquiring wisdom is a challenge for some of us. Some of us learn by watching while some of us learn by doing. Yep, that includes mistakes. Some of the most valuable lessons in life have been acquired via the route of mistakes.
In my book, Your Positive Potential: Action Steps for Self-Empowerment I share some awful mistakes I’ve made and some regrets I carried for years because it was the only thing I knew how to do.
But why would I share such awful stuff?
I share awful stuff because I’ve come to value the gift of a balanced life for myself and others.
If you've read this far, hang on because I'll share some personal challenges and their solutions in 2014 and you'll discover that you're NOT alone.
Yes, including suicidal tendency and its prevention!
Yes, I used to be a monster in my own ways, but hey, even monsters need support! ~Krystalina,

Search for ASL Dictionaries

Well Hello There!

As business becomes more fine-tuned, I've had to make some changes and one of those changes is placing writing and translation by the wayside to pursue ASL interpreter certification upgrade. Therefore, I've created this video in search of ASL Dictionaries. I'm really excited and hope to find more than just the 4 I've already accessed. In so doing, I'm hoping to encourage both interpreters and ASL students to share resources for the benefit of our colleagues.

Thank you in advance for sharing your resources!

3 Ways to Boost Your Self-Esteem

Did you know that your self-esteem shows through even when you
think no one's looking?

Self-esteem refers to the concept of your own self
appraisal, in other words, what does your own self-worth look like?

If you
struggle with low self-esteem, you may get a boost from these tips:

Bathing:
Bathing on a regular basis is a must to building your self-esteem,
besides, isn't it a great feeling to wash off all those dead skin cells to
allow the new ones to grow in a healthy manner?
Clothing:
Wear clean clothes daily and boost your self-esteem in those unpredictable emergencies
by having clean extra pair of socks, undergarments, and a change of clothing for emergency use.
Sleeping:
We joke about getting our beauty sleep, but it's a fact that getting a
restful night's sleep can do wonders for your appearance. Don’t read stress
related newspapers nor do homework in bed, instead use a peaceful positive
affirmation as you close your eyes and doze off to sleep.

So does personal care have anything to do with your
self-esteem? It certainly does!

Watch people with healthy self-esteem and you'll see them
practicing these simple every day steps.

If you struggle with low self-esteem, these
steps will surely give you a boost in leaps and bounds.

So what if nobody's coming over or you're just home alone. You can still practice these self-esteem boosters because you
are important. You matter as a human being and you matter as a member of society.

Best to YOU
