I really hope they settle quickly, but I don't have high hopes with this school board. (Can you tell I side with the teachers?)Drafting  I'm working on book four in my Piper Ashwell Psychic P.I. series. I've never written a series that goes beyond three books, so this is very exciting for me. Here's what's on my mind today:Happy Labor Day  I hope you have a safe and happy Labor Day!Blurbing a book  This week I'm reading a book to blurb for a fellow author.Plotting  I'm plotting a new book. I got a little tripped up on it last week because I realized I need to write a book between the one I just revised and the new one I was plotting. So, that meant putting the current plotting aside and brainstorming a different book before it. If you're confused, so was I! ;) No, seriously, I think I know what I need to do now.Createspace closing  The announcement that Createspace is closing is causing quite the uproar. It's going to affect my daughter since we only print her books to distribute in person. KDP won't allow that if they aren't for sale on Amazon. So now I need to find a new printer for her books. This is going to delay her new book, but now that school is back in session, I think it's going to be delayed anyway.New schedule  I survived my daughter's first week of intermediate school. My day is long! She's gone for eight hours instead of six this year, so I'm getting a lot more accomplished. I will be able to take on more client edits and formatting jobs, which is good.That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

Here's what's on my mind today:First day of intermediate school  Ayla starts intermediate school today. For those who know me well, I'm quite the helicopter parent. I'm not ashamed of it either. So I need some virtual hugs to get through today, please.Proofreading  I'm doing final proofreading on the paperback ARC of Read Between the Crimes, book two in my Piper Ashwell Psychic P.I. series. (Oh, and this cover is sooooooo pretty!) I want to have book two up for preorder when book one releases in the Death and Damages boxed set in November. New schedule Since Ayla's school day is two hours longer this year, I will have 10 extra hours a week to work! I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. I like getting extra work done, but that's 10 fewer hours with my daughter. :(Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs  For Ayla's last day of summer, we went to see the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs play. Here's what's on my mind today:Editing  I'm finishing up an edit for a client this week.Update on water issues  The water issues are all fixed now. We think. Fingers crossed.School assignments  On Friday, we get my daughter's team assignment for intermediate school. (Kids are divided among two teams and don't really interact with the other team.) And then begins the fun of finding out which of her friends are on her team. Wish me luck and no tears on her end please.The Day I Died Next month my YA paranormal The Day I Died releases. Here's what's on my mind today:Editing  I'm editing for a new client this week.Cozy Mystery Giveaway  I'm banding together with some other cozy mystery authors to host a giveaway for Wedding Cake Crumble by Jenn McKinlay. You can enter here.  Water issues  This has been the summer of water issues. I'm hoping to have them all finally fixed this week. Fingers crossed.Publishing schedule  I was going to release my Love Chronicles boxed set at the beginning of this month, but life has been crazy. I might have it ready by the end of the month, but I'm not going to stress to get it out. I'm slowly learning not to kill myself for the sake of getting books published by certain dates.Three weeks left in my summer schedule  My daughter starts school in three weeks, so I'm still on summer hours until then, but this school year, my working hours will increase since the school day is going from six hours to eight!That's it for me. Here's what's on my mind today:Editing  I'm finishing up an edit for a client this week and have another coming to me on Wednesday.Back-to-school shopping  I'm almost finished shopping for school clothes for my daughter. They've moved to a uniform policy, which is so hard to follow because I have to count the number of buttons on shirts. How crazy is that? I can't find any with the appropriate number of buttons, which means I have to remove one button from each shirt and sew up the hole since none of the stores by me sell the appropriate number. You can imagine how happy I am about that.New Facebook page for editing/formatting  For a while I've been contemplating a FB page for my editing and formatting, and last week I finally followed through. You can find it here.Branding  Branding is something I've always struggled with (as Kelly not Ashelyn) since I write across genres. I'm contemplating sticking to one from now on but branching out within that genre. For example, I'll write mystery, but that can include paranormal mystery to appease my paranormal fans.Summer  Is it just me or is summer flying by? I knew it would since school let out late this year, but I'm not ready for it to be August this week.That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

Here's what's on my mind today:Home again  I'm back home after having to flee to Delaware due to a broken pipe. Unfortunately, our bad luck didn't stop at the pipe. I still need to do a final proofread on it, but I probably won't get to that until next week.Color Street  I'm hosting a Color Street FB party this week. Here's what's on my mind today:Fled to Delaware  Thanks to a broken pipe under my house, my daughter and I have fled to my parents' house in Delaware. My husband and dog are holding down the fort at home. I think I got the better deal.  Draft Completed!  I finished drafting the third book in my psychic mystery series. I'm so happy to have book three written because I want to release the first three books in quick succession and book one is out in November.Revising  I need to do some final revisions before I get one of my Ashelyn Drake books off to my editor. I'm hoping to dive into it this week, but I'll be away until Friday, so we'll see.Reading  I started reading a new cozy mystery. I really love how easy they are to read while still being entertaining.Proof  I got the paperback proof for the second book in my psychic mystery series. It's absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to share the cover with everyone. But in the meantime, I need to proofread this book.That's it for me. What's on your mind today?

Here's what's on my mind today:Drafting  Writing is going well this summer, but since I have limited hours to work with my daughter home, it's going slowly still. I'm hoping to finish my draft this week.Color Street  I recently discovered a product called Color Street, and I'm in love with it. It's nail art that's not a wrap, so there's no damage to your nails. It's polish that goes on in a strip. No drying time! I'm hosting a Color Street FB party on July 23rd. If you'd like to be part of it and try some free samples, let me know.  Three of my Color Street manicures, which last for about two weeks!Formatting  I'm formatting a book for a client this week.Incredibles 2  My daughter and I went to see Incredibles 2 last Friday. It was really good! I definitely recommend it.Cover Design  Last week I saw the perfect cover for a book I wasn't planning to release until next year. I had to buy it because it's exactly what I was looking for. So now I will be releasing an extra Ashelyn Drake title this year.That's it for me. What's on your mind today?
