Hullo. :)

Before I get to the point of the post--I keep forgetting to mention that I've recently had a short story accepted for publication by Dreamspinner Press . Those of you on the old mailing list may remember Impromptu from... ergh, years ago. I'm told 2006, though I swear it was longer than that, but since I lost it along with everything else in the crash a while back, and the only reason I have it now is because a friend still had it on her hard drive, I'll have to take her word for it. Buffed up and spit-polished, of course. It's to be released some time this July. I'll keep you posted.

(By the way, if anyone out there still has any of those old stories from the mailing list, I wouldn't mind getting a copy. In all honesty, I don't even remember all of them, so I'm not looking for anything specific, but it would be nice to see if any of them could be re-worked and sold. Let me know, yeah?)

And hey, I said I had a point to this post, didn't I?

I'm looking for names. I've got a story idea (going to take another shot at contemporary and see what happens), and am looking for names for my characters. I was going to give you descriptions and tell you what they do for a living, but since that's not how names work in real life, I decided it would be better not to influence your suggestions one way or the other. Anyone got a favorite they'd like to see tacked to a character?

There’s no title on it yet, because there were some adjustments to the art itself that had to be made. The book is still set to release on Wednesday, June 15th. If things go as they did last time around, the paperback version should be available on Amazon about a week later with the ebook following about a month after that. Considering the ordering snafus with Book One (though I’ve been assured that was general Web fallout from that ‘Anonymous’ MC/Visa hacking thing and can’t happen again), how/when/from whom you choose to order is totally up to you.

Yes, they’re actually using my art for the cover. \o/ Woohoo! They’ve already got a placemarker for it up on their site HERE because their art department has to do some vague thing or other before the official version goes up, but I’m totally chuffed that they wanted the illo I sent them. I wasn’t even going to ask about it, but my editor mentioned something and then I mentioned something, and it just kind of went from there. Anyway, Impromptu will be available July 6th, according to the website, and if it’s priced like the other shorts of its size, it should be about $1.49. As I understand it, though, it will only be available from Dreamspinner—no Amazon, etc.—so if you’re thinking of buying it, you’ll have to get it from there.

Don’t you just love that title? *dies* Some of you will recognize Fen here. I was so impressed with the way she captured both mood and setting in a silhouette. I adore this one so much that it’s now my wallpaper. *pets it*

Also, while I’m shamelessly self-promoting, there was a really nice review of Book One on the Bibrary Bookslut (Don’t you just love that name?) review blog HERE.

Now I’m going to be a nervous wreck until the first few reviews for Book Two start trickling in. If they do trickle in. Yay, something new to fret about. God, you’d think I’d get over it eventually, but no. I still have those moments of oh-god-I-suck-they’re-all-going-to-hate-it-must-hide-under-rock. Lots of those moments. I have to shut up now.

Okay, that’s it for now. I have some more Aisling art from my friend Rosina, but she won’t let me post it yet because she’s not done tweaking. As soon as I get the go-ahead, I’ll show it off here. :)

Then again, I suck at Facebook, too, so no surprise. I have discovered how authors can accidentally rate their own books. Oops. Luckily, I immediately accidentally discovered how to get rid of those ratings, so...

Anyway, I actually logged in to rate some books that are not my own (oy) and then add a couple that are:

I'm pleased to announce that Dreamspinner Press has contracted to publish Wolf's-own, Book One: Ghost and Wolf's-own, Book Two: Weregild some time this spring.

I'll update when I have concrete dates and whatnot. In the meantime, you can read a synopsis and excerpt (along with a couple outtake-type stories in the 'verse) on my website.

Hokey smokes, Bullwinkle!

Just finished the proofing for book three of Aisling and then jumped right in to first edits of Wolf's-own. (Nobody likes my hyphens, damn it!) The headspace-shift is whiplash inducing!

Everything is still on schedule thus far. Aisling should be out in another month or so, and Wolf's-own will start publishing in Feb/Mar. So far. Subject to the vagaries of publishing, of course.

One day, I might have time to write again!

I'm pleased to announce that Dreamspinner Press has contracted to publish all four books in the Wolf's-own series. Book One: Ghost, Book Two: Weregild, Book Three: Koan and Book Four: Incendiary will begin publishing Feb/Mar of 2012 and finish in Jun/Jul 2012.

Synopses and 'verse outtake stories can be found on my website. Now I'm going to go and see if I can remember how to add books to GR. *sigh*

The Queen’s Librarian

All Lucas Tripp wants is happiness and prosperity for the tenants of his family’s estate, some good weather for the upcoming harvest, suitable matches for his six older sisters, a little money leftover at the end of the month, to never ever come within distant brushing distance of an ascension to the throne, and more quality time with Alex. That’s not so much to ask for, right? Oh, and for his dog to listen to him. And for his cat to stop plotting against him. And for his mother to stop being disappointed in him. And for his sister Clara to someday forgive him for stealing Alex away from her. Not that Lucas did that!

When Clara’s new suitor suddenly disappears, Lucas absolutely will not have it and is thus drawn into an adventure of a lifetime—kicking and screaming all the way. All right, complaining and grumbling. (Because Lucas neither kicks nor screams, no matter what Alex says.) Magical beings who were supposed to be banished hundreds of years ago, coming through portals that were supposed to be shut against them—that’s only part of Lucas’s problem. Missing princes, breaking and entering, suspicious magicians, arsey cousins and far too many well-meaning women who are far too interested in Lucas’s sex life doesn’t really cover the rest of it, but give Lucas time; he’ll come up with more.

Wooster and Jeeves meet Monty Python and Doctor Who, with a side-visit now and then to the Three Stooges. The Queen’s Librarian is a romp through absurdity and intrigue and humor and schmoop, with a healthy dose of real adventure. And while Lucas spends most of it decidedly Not Amused, he’ll get over it someday. Probably. Because there is, after all, always Alex.
