Why Half The Internet Is About To Hate My Guts

(Assuming they don’t already!)

So I have been at two cons in New Zealand, lovely events put on by Armageddon Expo.

And the Sunday of the second event, in Wellington, the organizers managed to get both Radagast (Sylvester McCoy, who is a doll) and eleven of the dwarf actors, and the actor who plays Bard.

Guys, I LOVE the Hobbit and LOVE the Lord of the Rings. This has been a wonderful trip for me with a dozen thrilling things happening (like seeing the Hobbiton set and becoming friends with Sylvester).

But Sunday was the day I had been waiting for, it’s the reason I came down. The organizers knew how big a deal this was for me, so they set up chairs in the front row for the Hobbit panel, they got signed photos, they made sure I got my photo taken with all the dwarves, and I got to meet them all and speak with most of them, they could NOT have been nicer or more lovely.

In the green room, it was just a dwarf party, they were so charming and funny and charismatic.

They had to leave that afternoon, it was sad.  Kili and Fili stayed for additional photos.

I talked to them both in the green room, and as they were leaving, both turned to give me a hug and a kiss, and Kili said, SO nice to meet you, Gail.

Was totally not expecting it, so I couldn’t even speak for a bit, just sputtered like a buffoon.

Sunday was a GOOD day!

Tumblr I Love You

Here’s why.

A respectful, very fascinating and emotional discussion about what at first seems like just a simple hypothetical comics question but is in fact about much more important things.

No one insulting each other, just smart, sincere people making their case about something many of us haven’t ever had to REALLY consider.

This is why I defend Tumblr.

Thanks, everyone. I wish I could stay but I am leaving for Weta Workshop and then the long flight home. Thank you all for your comments, intelligence, and willingness to share your experiences. I dang well adore you for it.

I think you're going to find that a lot of people in their late teens to mid twenties are going to have the dcau as their touchstone, since those cartoons were going on while we were growing up

No, absolutely, I agree. But I think the OP was asking about the continuity I was familiar with when I actually WROTE Wonder Woman, which is where I believe some confusion might have occurred.

Regardless of which Amazonians were discussing. I'm not even sure a trans man would wish to stay with the Amazonians. As a guy desperately trying to convince/prove to a cisnormative world that he's a man. I'm not even sure he would wish to stay with the ob

I totally understand this (and thank you for sharing).

But I will say, we have to get into the minds of the Amazons…for most of these people, this is the only world they have known for THREE THOUSAND YEARS.  Home before that is a dim memory, long gone.

But your point is taken, I think some trans Amazons would choose to leave.

As a super harsh transmisogyny-experiencing trans person, I think you're doing good on the whole Amazon trans guy thing. If it was the "no dudes ever" canon, yeah, banish, but since it isn't that canon, it's alright with me. Admittedly if I didn't know you

I appreciate it but I make zero claims to knowing this topic as well as I should.

I am just specifically answering what I think the Amazons I knew and wrote would do, you know?

But the notes and private messages I am getting are absolutely fascinating, from people who know the trans portion of this question a lot more authoritatively than I do. Sadly, some of the most meaningful private messages, I have been asked not to share!

:(

But it’s interesting…trans folk on both sides of the discussion, each feeling equally strongly and stating their case equally powerfully!
