I usually shy away from posting photos of myself on Tumblr, but I’ll make an exception for the second annual Cosplay Appreciation Day.  While I’ve only been cosplaying for a short amount of time, I love it so much.  That feeling you get when you put on the final product of days/weeks/months worth of effort is just awesome.  Then you get to run around a convention as some of your favorite characters!  So much fun!  And the cosplay community is wonderful. :)

For this year’s New York Comic Con, I alternated between Misfit and Ms. Marvel.  Neither cosplay came out perfect since I am basically a beginner with a sewing machine, and they lacked a few details each — i.e. I couldn’t dye my hair red for Misfit and didn’t have the funds for a proper wig — but I’m still really proud of how they turned out.  They are also infinitely better than some of my earlier cosplay attempts, so yay for improvement.

NYCC was super awesome, too.  I met Kelly Sue DeConnick while I was Carol Danvers and had a serious fangirl moment there.  Then I ran into Nicola Scott while dressed as Misfit!  And she reacted adorably and took a picture because I was the first Misfit she’d seen all weekend.

So yeah, cosplay and cosplayers are awesome!  :D

Thank you to the multitudes who participated in the third annual Cosplay Appreciation Day. This idea started as a positive response to some really goony accusations made at cosplayers in general. Fortunately, most people get it…cosplaying is awesome.

To all the cosplayers and costume makers and photographers and everyone who share their art and craft and love with us all year, thank you for making fandom so much more fun, inspiring, and creative!

I want every cosplayer here to know that they are all amazing, talented, and hardworking people. For my friends, I’m so proud of all of your progress and achievements. For my followers, you guys have some amazing work (that I wish I could see in person!!) and you guys motivate me with all your awesome progress shots. Cosplay has changed so much for me, but most importantly, it helped me work on my perfectionism (still working on it tbh) and encouraged me to be more social. TO COSPLAY!!!

Guys, About School Papers And Such

I am afraid I cannot help individuals with their thesis or school assignments.

I am sorry, but I get flooded with requests for these, several hundred per year, and I simply can’t take that kind of time for one person, it’s not fair to all the rest that I have to turn down. One of the reasons I am so active on Tumblr is so I can answer questions that are hopefully amusing/important/ridiculous to more than one person, or one person and their professor. 

Today alone, between all my inboxes and such, I’ve been asked probably fifteen times. I think you are important and your school is important and I wish you luck, but almost without exception when I have done this in the past, the questions were always, always, always things I have answered here many times already. 

For me to do a good job, it takes some time, and something has to give, and this is unfortunately it, not because it’s not important, but because I could do it ten times a week and still have to say no to the vast majority, and that’s just not fair.

I’m really sorry.

Today is apparently #cosplayappreciationday ! So my cosplay love goes out to my lady @therealclassicmaya for being the absolute greatest cosplay partner. We’ve been cosplaying together for going on two years, and it’s been absolutely amazing. She’s so talented and gorgeous and i hate her because she can paper mache better than i can. Hearts and kisses.
