GUYS!!! I just found out about The Movement Vol. 2, which is scheduled to come out the beginning of December!

PLEASE, spread the word, and get this volume! Let’s remind DC that we miss these characters, and want them back!

I got the preview book, and it looks great!

This tpb doing well will DEFINITELY help in getting the characters back in other books, so please consider what the REAL Vengeance Moth is suggesting here. :)

Finally got around to putting up my Birds of Prey #98 and #99, and Batgirl #26 framed comics, that I had signed by the lovely Gail Simone at London Comic Con this Summer.

That looks so cool!

DC Comics has a long standing history of doing stupid (and sexist) stuff. Hey look, there’s a counter for it!

However, one quote that my friend Abby Dark-Star likes to share is “be the change you want to see.” That can mean different things of course—be a force for good, share your good fortune with others, etc.

Today I want it to mean: I think there should be a POSITIVE counter for stuff DC Comics (and heck, Marvel too) did. I think it’s important to celebrate the victories. I think it’s important to have a moment where we don’t ruin our own enjoyment of things just because a few people in the industry have made some bad choices.

Comic books can be crazy amazing. Inspiring. creative. life-affirming! Let’s celebrate when our favorite companies do something right. Positive reinforcement of what we like to see can only mean that we get to see more of it, right?

Gail Simone and Babs Tarr in one panel? I wish I had been able to go and see it in person! (though I would have gone completely bananas trying to figure out which Batgirl cosplay to wear.)

These women have come together to share the beauty and wonder of comic books. I think that’s great.

So there. DC Comics did something right. Something AWESOME. I’m celebrating.

Terribly lacking women of color. Which sucks. Yay for women being involved in comics, nay for a portion of these women not being of color.

100% this.

I do know a couple WOC are coming up doing some writing for DC Digital, I can’t say their names yet, but they are both super-talented. It would be lovely next year to have a similar panel with more diversity.

Uggh. Okay, it's official: I HATE the new Batgirl. It's completely substance-over-form, Babs has barely any depth, the stories thus far don't make any sense unless everyone in them is dumb... But the worst sin of all is that no less than TWICE has Dinah to

Okay, I disagree with this assessment. It’s uncomfortable for me to keep on about it because I only read the first issue and the baton is completely passed, but I think the new team are doing a credible new version of Batgirl and a lot of people are responding to it in a big way. It’s a talented bunch. Sales are way up, reviews are very positive. There are a lot of versions of Batgirl out there and I think they have put a great deal of thought into this version, and a lot of people are giving Batgirl a try for the first time. And as I have said a lot, I love the fashion, that is very welcome in a comic with a young female lead.

But in this case, I have to defend editorial, my understanding is that the new team wanted to start completely fresh with no previous characters at all, and it was editorial who insisted that Alysia continue to be included. That is always fair, in my view, it’s completely understandable when a team wants to start completely fresh, particularly since the tone is so different (which I am happy about, Babs DEFINITELY needed some lighter stories!).  In this case, editorial did a nice thing.

The new bat editorial team is really quite exceptional and I am glad that they asked for Alysia not to be removed entirely.

Sorry to keep clarifying this but I know how these things can grow in the telling. The editorial edict about no other friends for Babs was from a previous editorial group.

Hope that all makes sense.

I never actually thought I would like red sonja but I do and it’s wonderful.

I have known of Red Sonja for a long time, the way you just sort of pick up information through pop culture osmosis. I saw fan art on deviantart, we touched very briefly on her existence in a History of Comics class as…

Thank you!

I am actually as proud of these two collections as I am of anything I have ever worked on for any publisher.

I hope people try them, volume two, especially, I don’t think there’s another sword and sorcery comic out there like it.

The art in this series is STUNNING. Sonja’s a little boobie here but I’m telling you, the pages are A-MAZE-ING.

Everyone involved freaks out every time a new page comes in. :)

I found this scene from Batgirl #32 rather amusing. A svelte woman in stealth tactical gear trying to get the drop on another twentysomething in spandex capris and running shoes in broad daylight. Yep. Nothing suspicious going on here.

I wish there was more hand-to-hand fighting like this in comics … where it’s clear the artist has definitely researched a technique or two.

(from Batgirl #32)

That’s Fernando Pasarin, the guy is amazing. I know he’s got some martial arts because it shows up in the book’s unique posing, but I don’t know what the extent of it is. I will ask!

- As a matter of fact they do. [x]

That is adorable.
