Question Of The Day

What are your favorite classic Science Fiction writers, if any?

I’m not talking about suspense stuff, or horror, or fantasy, I am talking about writers mostly known for Science Fiction.

It’s for a story I am working on, and I don’t really know the classic SF writers that well. THANKS!

Also, I am CURIOUS!

Would you ever consider coming to Spokane for a convention? We have several comic conventions.

Yeah, I’m in the Northwest but have never been to Spokane.

I get invited to way, way, way more events than I can possibly attend, there are very few I would say I would never attend. It’s just that I can only do a few a year and I try to mix them up somewhat.

So, Lego Batman 3...

I love the Lego video games, I get all of them and I play them until they are 100% completed (which is sometimes quite an arduous journey!). And of course, the comics ones are awesome. I love Lego, and the games are big fun.

So, I got the Lego Batman 3 game, and the season pass that gives you all the upcoming DLC; fun stuff like ARROW, Dark Knight, Man of Steel, etc.

The one that just came out is THE SQUAD. It’s a Suicide Squad level, only they took out ‘suicide,’ probably understandably since the game is popular with kids.

Anyway, I played it today, and was a little sad to see no Secret Six-specific characters. BUT Amanda Waller narrates the level. Halfway through, she says, “I just want to add that King Shark is a shark. He likes to remind people of that.”

I can’t tell you how hard I giggled. I’ve had my stuff show up in games and movies before, some of Oracle’s dialog for example, and Scribblenauts Unmasked has a BUNCH of my characters and scenes in it (which I loved) but this is the LEGO game, and to have a King Shark joke from my run made me ridiculously happy.

Movies and tv, great. Love it. But this is LEGO, son. :)

Elektra and Vixen

…are the names we gave our rescued greyhounds we got a few weeks ago.

I just want to say, you can’t really judge a rescue dog by how they behave in the shelter. Elektra was fairly social right up front, but Vixen was shy and unsure about humans. The lady running the shelter thought she might have been abused. All she seemed to know was her crate and the racetrack.

She didn’t understand being petted, she didn’t understand being given a treat, she didn’t understand what dog toys were for, she was confused about having a  comfy bed and not being crated. The first night we had her, she was up all night, drooling, crying, scared…she didn’t know what being in a home was, she didn’t know what having a family was about, and she was terrified, despite our best efforts.

She had been injured in her last race and the owner hadn’t had her treated, so she has a limp which is not correctable at this point. She couldn’t look people in the eye. Every time one of us stood up, she would panic. She never wagged her tail, or raised her eyes or ears. Even her body language was sad, and her fur was coarse and falling out.

A few weeks later, she’s the happiest dog alive. Her tail is always wagging, her eyes and ears are often at attention. She is delighted by treats and toys and walks. She is friendly with other dogs and calm and affectionate with other people. She behaves like a perfectly trained dog, never pees in the house, doesn’t beg, doesn’t chew things. Her hair is full and sleek and healthy, she is constantly full of love for us now, and is constantly showing it.

She loves to run in our backyard with her sister, or with us. She loves loves loves the beach. She’s not just happy, she’s joyful.

So, I just want to say again, please consider a rescue dog. Not every rescue is going to be a perfect little pooch right away, but with a little patience and a lot of affection, I think most of them will repay you a thousand times over (in doggy affection!).

Signed Script Update!

The lovely people at La Mole Comic Con have given me the okay to bring some scripts to sell, as I posted about a couple days ago. Woot!

I am not planning on bringing TOO many, I think I will have fifteen copies of four scripts, so just a total of sixty. I am not taking reservations but if you can only come on Sunday or something, please let me know, otherwise it’s first come first serve and if La Mole is like any other con, they will not last very long. So, cool!

I will also have scripts at Emerald City Comic Con, as I will also have a table there, hooray!

So far, the votes for the scripts seem to be Batgirl, Red Sonja, Secret Six and Birds of Prey or Wonder Woman, so those are probably the four I will bring this time. See you there! And thanks for the help choosing!

Do you think you'll be at london film comic con in July or belfast in October? Would love to meet you!

I have been invited to a bunch of stuff around those areas this year but I am not yet sure if I can make it to any of them. I have done a LOT in the UK and surrounding area in the last couple years, I might have to wait until next year just for time considerations. I promise to take a good look, though!
