Which in your opinion is better: a webcomic or a comic book?

I have no opinion on that, I like comics of all kinds, I like there to be manga, European graphic albums, Western comics, UK anthology titles, webcomics, mini comics, underground comics, comic strips, I love the whole damn thing.

But it is interesting to me how some things work beautifully in one format, and don’t fit at all in another, sometimes. Not bad, but curious.

I've got to be honest, I am, have been, and always will be a diehard Dick/Kory shipper, though of course I love Babs to death. But while I'm not on board the Dick/Babs train, I want to thank you for writing them really well romantically and in general, an

Thank you, sweetie!

I think most people know I am not out to job any characters, especially strong female ones.

When I was a kid, the Teen Titans were my EVERYTHING. I wouldn’t want Kory to be shown as anything less than the great character she was meant to be.

I totally get people who ship Dick and Kory, I have a LOT of sympathy and affection for that pairing. If that’s the way the story went, I would be pretty happy with it, actually.

So, This Happened

This was several years ago, when I had not been in comics long.

I was at a festival, kind of like a comics con/fair sort of hybrid thing. Great hospitality, lovely food, people were always smiling, that whole thing.

Very nice. People were very friendly.

The first day of the event, I was totally surprised by the quality of the cosplayers. It was very high-level stuff, like you would expect to see at one of the bigger cons, and one of the fun things was that the whole town joined in.

I was especially impressed by two EXTREMELY hot, good-looking guy cosplayers, one as Nightwing and another as Superboy. I don’t think the two knew each other. But man alive, they both looked like comic books come to life, just really handsome and fit and adorable, with great costumes and attitudes.

I thought they looked amazing, and I made a note to take a picture with them both when i had the chance, but I had a signing line, so I couldn’t do it at the time.

Later in the day, there was an outdoors street party, and I saw them both taking photos with with random people, and I grabbed my husband and said, HEY! We have to take my picture with these awesome cosplayers!  And my husband kindly put down his barbecue for a moment (which just proves how much he loves me because barbecue is his thing).

So I go to look for them, they have both disappeared. I am looking, finally I call out, SUPERBOY!  NIGHTWING!

No answer from them, but someone says they saw them go inside the building.

So we go in, camera in hand, to find the cosplayers…

…and Superboy and Nightwing are making out big time, right up against the wall. Paying no attention to anyone.

My hubby said two things I will always love him for…

1)  “Wow, it’s like your mental slashfic come to life, isn’t it?”

and

2) “Do you still want a picture?”

Anyway, it was a team-up to remember.   :)

PS. They broke off a bit later and were incredibly sweet and took the photo and stayed in character the entire time. My headcanon is that they got married and routinely go out patrolling the streets looking for Luthor and Two-Face.

PPS. I don’t write slashfic. Probably I don’t. Maybe I don’t.

PPS. It was really good barbecue.
