EC COMICS EXHIBIT at U of OREGON

jenvanmeter:

Oh, my goodness I cannot wait for this – it’s going to be excellent.

U Of O has extraordinary comic events like this, all because of one wonderful professor who I am proud to call a friend. I am going to this, and if you live in Oregon, you should, too!

Proud of my alma mater!

Folks.

I cannot help you with your school work thesis or research paper.

I’m sorry. But I get several such requests each day, and I simply cannot take the many,  many hours it would take to do a good job, even if the interview is ‘just a few questions,’ for something that only a tiny handful of people will ever see. Additionally, I have never once (in my memory) been given these questions where I hadn’t answered them already online a thousand times.

The fact that  you feel a writer’s time is of so little value that they can take hours where they could be working (or relaxing) to repeat answers to questions for your paper that very, very few people would see is, I’m sorry, not going to endear you to that writer. And you would be surprised how inconsiderately some of these requests are stated, it’s downright surprising that someone asking me for a favor would present it as if I ought to feel honored to be asked to do their homework for them, despite being a total stranger too busy to look up these same rote questions from the one million OTHER times I answered them.

If I can’t do it for everyone, I can’t do it for anyone.

I’ve tried to be nice about it, I know most of these requests come from people who mean well, but I have to be realistic. If I JUST answered the requests I get from Tumblr and Twitter, it would take more hours in a day than I have to write, and I’d be unable to do any real work.

Writing is our job. If we are goofing around, it’s a stress reliever, a way to recharge the batteries. We can’t really exchange that time if we lose it. If I am writing something that five people see, about topics I have covered endlessly elsewhere, that is a very poor use of my available mental and emotional resources.

Please don’t ask, I really can’t help with these requests. I’m sorry, but it’s this or telling stories, and I’m going to take the telling stories option every time.

So you're the person I have to blame for not only one my fav couples in the JLU.

Probably not, I’m sorry to say. I wrote the episode, but I believe it was Dwayne and Bruce who wanted to see Question and Huntress flirting, and of course, GA and BC are historically a couple pretty routinely.

DC's "Batgirl" introduces a Malay character

the-hive-asia-91462-yahoopartner:

Muni’s character in the circle above.

26 Feb – Looks like fans are Marvel comics are already familiar with superhero characters such as Spider-Man, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and many more.

All these heroes hail from the West, but have you ever thought that there would be Malay character too?

Prepare for a surprise as DC Comics has just introduced a new character in the “Batgirl” comic series named Muni.

Muni or her full name, Munira Khairuddin is characterised as a government agent with the alias Obscura.

The matter was confirmed by the writer of the comic herself, Gail Simone, after a fan asked about the character that appeared in the “Batgirl” comic issue number 32.

“Yes, she is of Malay ethnicity and readers can find her in the upcoming issue!” explains Gail as quoted by Sinar Harian.

In the meantime, based on the information on DC Wikia, Muni’s character is of Malaysian-American citizenship.

Muni was a student at Gotham University and is a close friend of Barbara Gordon who is the main character in the “Batgirl” comics.

According to DC Wikia, Muni’s character is loosely based on a real-life security analyst and terrorism scholar, Munira Mustaffa.

I am hoping to see a lot more of Obscura soon!
