If You Could Change Tumblr

I admit, I get frustrated with the overly complex and limiting message/response tree. It just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. It's deliberately awkward and unpleasant, seemingly.

That's my major beef. Other than that, I like it.

But what would you change, if you could?

Question Of The Day

IF Marvel and DC still did crossovers (which seems unlikely given current corporate culture), who would you MOST want to see in a book, and what creative team would you choose?

I just have a bit of fan spam, if you don't mind. I just read Batgirl 4 and I can't get over it! SO BRILLIANT!! That fight in the carnival: Barbara triumphing in the setting most inimical to her existence - AH! I love it! You changed an iconic scene of evi

Thank you, so much.

I do understand that this is a big adjustment for some, and some people are not inclined to try the book for whatever reasons.

But I getting a flood of mail from people who are seeing Barbara as being inspiring in a new way, people who have suffered trauma or live with folks with ptsd, or even just people who have felt uncertain dealing with the enormity of day to day existence.

It's Barbara, she finds ways to overcome. But I can certain feel for her in the first tentative steps back to regaining her costumed legacy!  :)

I'm sure people ask you this a lot, but I'm a little curious. For an aspiring writer, what is the best format to publish a creator owned project that is not a series? A one short or graphic novel? What is the average page/word count for both? Should a crea

*************

Wow, these are slippery questions, I wish I had more concrete answers, but I would say it all depends on you. There's no set answer at all. Go with what you know you can accomplish and what works for the story.

If someone had told the person who made the Wimpy Kid books what the most likely-to-succeed comics format should be, odds are it wouldn't have sold millions of copies.

I believe a shorter work is probably a smart way to start, find out what your capabilities, strengths and weaknesses are. But if you have a vision and you feel confident that you can accomplish it, by all means, go longer. Beware of scope creep, don't let it get away from you. An average DC ogn runs from 90-120 pages or so, but don't let that dictate anything.

Finding an agent, I don't know, I haven't seen the need for one yet and I get solicited for them all the time. Find your voice, do the work, and let that worry come later in the process.

As for editorships and internships, I'm sorry, I really don't know anything about it except that the odds of being chosen are almost nil if you can't relocate to where the publishers are.

Best of luck, sorry I can't help more!

Adam Baldwin called me a bigot a while back. I remember what it was I said that made him mad! He was saying some really insulting thing about Atheism, and I said some flippant thing back (I'm one, fyi, but wouldn't be cool with that anyway), and he posted back something snotty and finished with, "farewell, bigot."

I LOVE THAT.

I'm sorry, but wow, classic projection. Insult a group, when someone takes offense, call THEM a bigot. That's awesome. Well done, A.B!

I don't know anything about him, and I'm harboring no grudges, I found the whole thing pretty funny.

But Chachi was an outright dick!

Weird Stuff Happens On Twitter

Adam Baldwin called me a bigot a while back. I don't even remember the circumstances, it was totally out of nowhere, and even though he's an actor I really like (I wasn't aware of some of his political leanings, I just liked his work), I just found that hysterical.  I mean, it was some very casual and completely inoffensive comment I made, if I remember correctly. Probably some joke about conservatives, or something.

It's weird to get a tweet from an actor you like like that. I don't care much about actors either way, really. It's not in my DNA to care much, for some reason (with a few exceptions…), but having them be mad at you out of the blue like that, funny.

Then a few minutes later he said he really respects what I do for a living, so I'm assuming someone told him I write comics.  We shook virtual hands, but…still a strange experience. Why is the guy from My Bodyguard yelling at me, all of a sudden?

Also, Chachi yelled at me, but that MIGHT have been because I made fun of him for two days for saying dumbass stuff. :)

Twitter, where celebrities yell at the peasantry!
