Book Review: I Hero: The Beginning by Jason Zandri #RRBC #BookBoost

I Hero, The Beginning is a fun read. I enjoyed learning about Nathan from start to finish of this book. An unintentional hero, made so because of his kindness to a stranger, is something we should all strive for. Nathan continues to do good acts, saving people, as he learns more about the powers that were granted to him by the woman that was overlooked by everyone but him. I enjoyed reading about Nathan and his interactions, not only with his new powers, but the other characters in the story. Well done and a very entertaining read.

FORWARD by Jason Zandri
I am sure to get the questions along the lines of “what prompted you to give away the first few chapters of all your titles, including your current work in progress?” (“I, Hero: Phases” at the time of this writing, December of 2015).
“Another Sunset” released one year ago (November of 2014) and while I have been working on additional books throughout 2015, I have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to market the released ones and get my name out there.
On my blog, THE GUNDERSTONE REVIEW , as well as via my author page on Facebook , I have been publishing excerpts of my books anyway. For the most part, the chapters released in this e-book have already been released there.
What I wanted was a better way to introduce more readers to all of the different titles and genres I was writing and this made sense to me; offer a former title of mine, in its own right, and then all the excerpts gathered in one release.
Before Another Sunset (The Sunset Series Book 1) – FIRST EDITION

Today’s society is filled with broken homes and transient kids. While divorce was just starting to become more acceptable as I was growing up, it is now the norm and author Jason Zandri has written a very poignant tale of one family’s experience in “As Life Goes: Elementary”. The story of Mark and his son Matthew, who return to Mark’s childhood hometown to start over after a divorce. The struggles of starting a new school and meeting new people are illustrated as are the pains of loss. This is a great story that I became quickly invested in and that I found very easy to relate to. Definitely recommend.
——————————————————————————————–
“Every new beginning starts from nothing. Understanding that you can have everything in the love of one person, isn’t that worth the risk of personal capital? Isn’t that kind of love worth it?” – Diane Wakeford
“Have I ever told you, you’re the nicest boy I’ve ever met?” – Melissa Bancroft
“I will have the friends I want. I don’t care what boy likes me or what boy I like. You’re an awesome friend. I am not giving you up because we’re going to different schools or for any one person either.” – Elizabeth Wellsworth
Mark Sanford returns to his hometown with his son Matthew in tow to rebuild their lives. Recently divorced, and with the mother totally abandoning her parental responsibilities, both father and son are beginning their fresh start together.
Matthew begins to make new friends in the neighborhood and at school while he tries to find his place among people that have been friends with one another for years at elementary school.
Mark takes over the reins of the former family corner store with the help of a young woman looking for work. The ability to love and trust that woman entering his life is difficult for him because of all he has lost. For Matthew, that “first love” is difficult to understand without a motherly influence and with a father that has been deeply hurt.

“You have to let things happen and be there for the ones you care about. When they slip, you try to catch them to break their fall. You can’t always be there for everyone; when you’re not and if they should fall, you help them back up.” – Matthew Sanford.
“Now and for the rest of my life, I want to spend the time trying to make you as happy as you’ve made me.”
“There’s no way to know all things with absolute certainty. If you want to love that much, if you want the chance to be Matthew’s entire world, and have him be yours, you’re going to have to risk everything.” – Diane Wakeford.
The one constant in the universe is change.
Matthew, Tim, Melissa, Liz and the gang come to the end of their youth as they turn eighteen and prepare to leave high school.
Old friends and new come together as their lives shift from the moment they are in to the future that is coming at them.
One love is discovered and then lost. Another is never fully revealed. Others are put forward to stand against the tests of life, time, and circumstance.
At a time of letting go, they do their best to hang on, realizing that yesterday is gone and what they have to look forward to is everything that tomorrow offers.

Sometimes, you need a little help. Okay, a lot of the time. Well, why struggle alone?
Recently we discussed getting your massive tome written “Get It Out of Your Head And Into The Computer” here
Now we need a few ways to get your stuff noticed.
Use these hashtags to connect with authors and/or readers. Try some and see which ones work for you, and let us know so we can share them with others. Thanks in advance. Tomorrow we’ll have an abbreviated lust for every day use.

7 Ways To Improve Your Blog Presence & Grow Your Platform

We’re all busy. Here’s how to be more efficient with the same time expenditure.
The biggest thing you can do to build a loyal, quality base for your author platform is to reliably deliver quality content in your books, your blogs, and your social media.
That takes time, and we wanna be writing.
Here are seven ways to help without taking a ton of time.
Write two new blog posts every week that are helpful and informative to whoever your particular blog’s market is. For mine it’s other writers, so I write blogs that are “how to” or useful somehow for building a base or whatever. That’s Sunday and Monday. Use the hashtag for those days and tweet about your blog topic a few times during the day.

Yes, BLOG! What New Authors Need To Know About Building A Platform

Occasionally a new author will write me with a question or problem and I’ll answer it here so we can all learn.
Dear Dan,
I went to a writers’ conference last weekend (which was kind of intimidating) but I learned a lot about writing technique and learned some things about myself. I’m not a good self-promoter. I’m kind of quiet, actually; but one thing they recommended was a blog and/or website. I never had a good impression of blogs because I never thought people would be interested in things like, “I got up and made myself coffee.”
Sincerely,
Blogless Beginner

Dear Blogless,
Not a good self promoter? A little on the quiet side?
Sounds like you’re an author all right!
Let me tell you a secret. MOST people aren’t good self-promoters. There are very few Donald Trumps…

What I Wish I Knew Before I Began – Guest Post & Interview: Amanda Shofner
Originally posted on Dan Alatorre - AUTHOR:
If there’s one thing I’ve learned since I started publishing, it’s that I have a lot to learn. Publishing, like writing, is something you only ever see the final product of. You see other people publish and think, “Oh, I could totally do that.”
And while yeah, you can, it’s so much more complicated than that.
Here’s what I wish I knew before I began—and what might help you go into publishing with your eyes opened a little wider than mine. (And make you more successful faster.)
Author is a verb.
Being an author isn’t just something you are. It’s a job, whether you’re traditionally or self-published, or whether you write full-time or on the side. That means authoring is everything you do: writing, editing, formatting, publishing, networking, marketing, learning.
Authoring isn’t for the faint of heart.
Being an author is much more than writing a book. Don’t fall into…
