Waiting on Wednesday + GIVEAWAY (4/8/20)

I’m so excited to share what book I’m highly anticipating this year!

RELEASING IN AUGUST: THE BRIDE BET BY TESSA DARE!

Tessa’s Girl Meets Duke series consist of books that are the best kind of historical romance; with rom-com vibes (laugh out loud moments) and lovable characters, this series is perfect for newbie Historical Romance readers, too.

How to lose a duke in ten years…without losing your heart.

Once upon a time, two sworn enemies – the bookish daughter of a scholar and the devilish heir to a duke – made a pact: If they were both still single in ten years, they would marry each other.

It was a joke, Nicola thought. A duchess? Her?

But when the Duke of Westleigh returns a decade later, he’s serious. He needs an heir, so he’s holding her to their marriage bargain—diamond ring, lavish gown, engagement ball, and more. Nothing Nicola says can dissuade him. When she calls him arrogant, he praises her honesty. When she makes social stumbles, he catches her fall. And when she gets exasperated, the duke can’t seem to get enough. For reasons she can’t fathom, he claims that no other woman will do.

He’s betting he can change her mind, with logic and passion.

She’s betting she can change his mind, just by being herself.

And as the clock ticks down to a wedding day, neither is counting on losing their heart.

WACKY RELEASE DAY WEDNESDAY + GIVEAWAY: FB&A

ICYMI: I RELEASED MY BRAND NEW FANTASY NOVEL, FROM BLOOD AND ASH THIS WEEK!

To celebrate, I’m giving away a paperback copy to one lucky winner!

Here’s details on FB&A, and you can 1-click it here:

CAPTIVATING AND ACTION-PACKED, FROM BLOOD AND ASH IS A SEXY, ADDICTIVE, AND UNEXPECTED FANTASY PERFECT FOR FANS OF SARAH J. MAAS AND LAURA THALASSA.

A Maiden…

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

A Duty…

The entire kingdom’s future rests on Poppy’s shoulders, something she’s not even quite sure she wants for herself. Because a Maiden has a heart. And a soul. And longing. And when Hawke, a golden-eyed guard honor bound to ensure her Ascension, enters her life, destiny and duty become tangled with desire and need. He incites her anger, makes her question everything she believes in, and tempts her with the forbidden.

A Kingdom…

Forsaken by the gods and feared by mortals, a fallen kingdom is rising once more, determined to take back what they believe is theirs through violence and vengeance. And as the shadow of those cursed draws closer, the line between what is forbidden and what is right becomes blurred. Poppy is not only on the verge of losing her heart and being found unworthy by the gods, but also her life when every blood-soaked thread that holds her world together begins to unravel.

We could all use a laugh

I’m going to be real. Things sort of suck donkey butt right now, and I think we could all use a laugh. So, I collected some of the shows/podcasts/books/whatever that make me actually laugh out loud.  Keep in mind, what I find funny, you might not, so mileage may vary, but I’m listing some really funny things.

Buzzfeed Unsolved Supernatural (Web Series)

Ryan and Shane are hilarious. I’ve probably watched these episodes two dozen times and I still laugh at Ryan’s expression (and okay, his fear—I’m a terrible person) and Shane’s wittiness. This is free on Facebook, Youtube, and Amazon.

Buzzfeed Unsolved True Crime (Web Series)

Unsolved crime cases don’t sound like something that would make you laugh, but again, Ryan and Shane will have you snort laughing as they say what we’re all thinking. The great thing about Supernatural and True Crime is that the episodes are short. This is also the bad thing. I wish they were longer. This is free on Facebook, Youtube, and Amazon.

True Crime Obsessed (Podcast/ Free/Patreon)

Again. Sounds weird to say crime is funny, but like with Ryan and Shane, Patrick and Gillian say exactly what we’re thinking when we’re watching the ID Channel or the newest documentary. Of course, a lot of the material is dark, but if you like true crime stuff and giggling inappropriately, this is for you.

VEEP (HBO)

This show is definitely not going to be for everyone, but it has some the best and most creative insults I’ve ever heard, it’s surprisingly educational about the political system, and Gary steals every single scene he’s in.

Any “What I expected to look like during the apocalypse vs. what I actually look like” meme thread.

Honest to God, I never related more nor have I snort-laughed as much as I have to any of these Twitter threads, proving that social media can sometimes be a very, very good place. And look, the coronavirus is serious and it’s scary, but laughter in the darkest and most uncertain times can be a balm for a weary, scared shitless soul.

Wallbanger by Alice Clayton (ebook/print/audio)

Wallbanger was the first book to ever make me laugh out loud. If you like steamy romance with your giggles, this book is for you.

Talladega Nights (movie)

Never been a big comedy move fan, but this and Step Brothers kill me. I don’t know what it is about the two movies that allow me to watch them whenever I see them and still laugh at the utter ridiculousness, but when it has lines like “If you ain’t first, you’re last” I can’t help it.

Step Brothers (movie)

See above. Same reasons. Also, bunk beds.

Honest Trailers (Youtube)

These are super funny, pointing things out in your favorite movies that even you can laugh about.

Tropic Thunder (movie)

This movie. I can’t. Everything is so gloriously dumb

Gay of Thrones (Web Series)

You need to have watched Game of Thrones to watch this Funny or Die web series. It even made me laugh about the final season.

I hope some of these bring some laughter to your life. Comment with a web series, video, book, TV/movie that makes you laugh!

Waiting on Wednesday + GIVEAWAY (3/18/20)

I’m so excited to share what book I’m highly anticipating this year!

RELEASING EARLY: THE PRIEST BY TIFFANY REISZ!

New Orleans, four months after the events of THE QUEEN…

Søren has been suspended from the Jesuits for a minimum of one year after confessing to fathering a child. To say he’s struggling with his newfound freedom is an understatement.

Kingsley is about to be a father again and is convinced something very bad is about to happen. Nerves? Or is he right that the time has come for the Sinners to pay for their sins?

And if things couldn’t get worse, a handsome private detective shows up and tells Mistress Nora that a priest has just committed suicide, and she was the last person he tried to call. He would like to know why…

She doesn’t know, but Nora and her new detective friend will turn over the city to find out, meeting liars, vampires, and witches along the way. When she finds what she’s looking for, she may wish she’d never stepped foot in New Orleans.
