See You
I'll be leaving for MidSouthCon tomorrow morning, so this'll be a short update.
Don't forget to get your free download of Janet Morris' Beyond Sanctuary today. I don't know how long it'll be at Amazon for free, so you should run and grab a copy now (just in case).
No news on the publication date for anything yet. Um… I cut my finger? Been a weird week.
See you next week.

C-4 and a Smile
Brief note today since I'm still feeling under the weather.
Only seven more days until MidSouthCon. Looking forward to meeting lots of new people and establishing new contacts. I've been sitting on the publishing sidelines (as it were) for the past two years, and I think it's time to venture back into the madness of agent hunting.
It's not as though I feel I would be hurt not having one, but there are a few doors which remain closed despite the day and age, and I would like those doors to be...

Olympic Sport of Procrastinating

Seriously, gatos. It's not like you'd know what to do with me even if you did catch me... which you never will, because you lack thumbs and can't unlock screen doors.
There is a male cardinal on my bird feeder right now, tormenting my kitties. He chirps, they chirp back.
The brainwashing has begun. Excellent…
Received my first royalty check last week and (I'm rich! Rich! Bite me, haters! Muwahaha!) can now buy myself dinner. Yeah, really. Authors don't generally make a lot of money, you know...

God I'm Insane
I think I'm about ready to stop watching Glee.
I've watched as these characters have grown, changed, grown, changed, turned around, went back to who they were originally, change, be thrust to the front, change, get cast to the background, change… you see a pattern here? Every single time you start to enjoy a character on the show, the writers pick a hot-button issue (this season and last, homosexuality and bullying… the first season, teen pregnancy which, hey, it wasn't so bad for Quinn...

War and Books
I need to write up something about ergonomic growth for work today. Blargh. I had my sights set on some Wraithkin and Wraithguard, damn it, not some thing about team motivation and growth.
I went and got Joe Haldeman's The Forever War yesterday (along with Alison Weir's The Wars of the Roses) and I must say, The Forever War is a depressing piece of work. Oh, don't get me wrong. It's brilliantly written and very well plotted. But… as someone who has watched the 9/11 Wars (I refuse to call it a ...

Saturday Posting Storm
It's Saturday and I am very pleased to announce that I survived the super storm that hit Kentucky yesterday.
I got a little bit of hail, lots of rain and some freaked out kitties. To the north and south of us, not so lucky. Remember, donate blood people. It'll help.
Other than that, just the usual combination of work, writing and sleeping. Book reviews are going-ish, with a few more scheduled this coming week. No news on the publishing front (waiting to hear back about the release dates...

Quack, quack, quack
by Amanda S. Green No, that's not me fondly imagining going to the duck pond and a warm Spring afternoon. That's fun and brings back wonderful memories of when my son was little and we'd head out to the park to feed the ducks. No, the quack, quack, quack is the sound I hear in my mind whenever I read the latest diatribe against Amazon or when I read the rantings against Paypal, and by association Smashwords, right now. Let's start with Amazon. Once more, the...

A Sunday Off
Over at Shiny Book Review we had a contest. Only 7 people entered, so choosing the winner was rather easy. We took an advanced randomization table, inserted a linear graph to calculate, used a high-tech algorithm to determine that our randomness was completely random, and then we drew straws to see which program would run first. Suffice to say, Clement Armitage was not eligible for the book (being dead and all that). So we had to try again and the winner will be revealed on Monday. This...

Quickies
Really quickly:
Last chance to enter the Shiny Book Review contest for a free copy of Ari Marmell's Thief's Covenant from Pyr Books. The review is here (hint: I liked it) and you can like us over on Facebook (yes, we have a page there… call us sellouts if you like). On the Facebook page, tell us why you are the most deserving (or undeserving, for our resident future evil overlords out there) to win the book.I will be unable to attend Mysticon this year. I mentioned this last week and...
