Paul Walter Hauser Joins Zach Cregger’s RESIDENT EVIL Reboot Cast
As Zach Cregger’s Weapons heads to theaters, the director is already working on his next project. He’s taking on a Resident Evil reboot film, which doesn’t have a title yet. We know that Austin Abrams will star in this film and, according to Deadline, Paul Walter Hauser will also be in Resident Evil in a currently undisclosed role.
There are quite a few Resident Evil movies in the franchise, and a reboot just happened in 2021 with Welcome to Raccoon City. However, this Resident Evil reboot with Cregger and Sony Pictures aims to honor the games in specific ways to tell an epic story.
“I played all of the games,” Cregger said to Comicbook.com. “I played Resident Evil 4 a hundred times through. I’m obsessed with it. And so, I just want to tell a story that feels like it’s honoring the experience you get when you play the games.”

Cregger admits that he hasn’t seen any of the franchise’s films because that’s isn’t his thing. However, his love for the games feel like a playground to craft a story that, in his words, “is going to rip.”
He spoke about the Resident Evil reboot at CinemaCon previously, noting big hallmarks of the games that will show up in this film. “There’s a moment that comes in every moment of every Resident Evil game where you find yourself standing in the mouth of a dark passageway. One shot in the gun is left,” he said. “You know that something horrible is waiting for you in that darkness, that awful moment where you have to will yourself. That’s something that every Resident Evil game has perfected and has kept me and millions of other players returning to the series for decades.”

James Gunn Thinks Green Lantern Could Beat Superman
Is Superman the most powerful hero in the DC Universe? According to DC Studios co-head James Gunn, he might not even be the most powerful hero in the Justice League. Via the folks at Comic Book, we learned that while appearing on Howard Stern’s radio show, he said that he thinks a member of the Green Lantern Corps could handily beat him. Stern, himself a lifelong DC Comics geek, said that he always believed Green Lantern could beat up Superman, and Gunn concurred, stating, “Absolutely, he’s pretty powerful.” But does this track with the way the character’s powers are depicted in the comics?
In the comics, Superman hasn’t really fought Green Lanterns much, as they are all fellow heroes themselves. As a member of the Justice League, he’s served alongside Green Lanterns such as Hal Jordan and John Stewart, the two main characters in the upcoming Lanterns series. Not to mention Guy Gardner, with whom he butted heads in Superman. Other Green Lanterns that Superman calls friends include Kyle Rayner, Simon Baz, and Jessica Cruz. But the Green Lantern power rings charge with pure willpower energy. They are technically not magic, in the strictest sense. But close enough. And alongside Kryptonite, magic is one of the few things that Superman struggles with.

Still, the Green Lanterns have one big disadvantage over a Kryptonian. Every 24 hours, a member of the Green Lantern Corps must recharge their power rings. Superman needs to recharge his powers as well of course, under a yellow sun. But he can keep his powers for much longer than a single day if he does not go near one. Is Gunn teasing a possible Superman vs. Green Lantern (or Green Lantern Corps) battle in the DCU? We know many longtime DC Comics fans would love to see that play out on the big screen. Hopefully, when the time comes for Superman vs. a Lantern, the Green Lantern in question won’t be an obvious one.

ALIEN: EARTH’s Scariest Creature Just Got Scarier

We’ve already made our opinion known, but T.Ocellus, a.k.a. “the octopus eye,” especially when it’s inside a poor zombified sheep — is the scariest alien in all of Alien: Earth. The Xenomorph is still iconic, of course, but it doesn’t creep us out half as much as that sheep, which looks like it might be the most disturbing of all the four new species found by the Maginot out in deep space. But in the penultimate episode of Alien: Earth, we learn that the judgmental-looking sheep isn’t just terrifying, it’s smart. Very, very smart, in fact.

The extraterrestrial species living inside the sheep has an official designation as the T. Ocellus. So far, it’s torn out the eye of a cat and lived inside it/controlled it, then a human being, if only temporarily. Now that it’s in the sheep, it’s been sitting in its cell at the Neverland Research Facility, staring at its captors with utter contempt. It enabled the synth Toodles to get trapped in the neighboring cell while trying to feed the fly aliens, but startled him into trapping himself in with them. They killed the poor boy in an android body, all while the sheep watched him die.

Prodigy’s synth Kirsh (Timothy Olyphant) saw the whole thing happen on security cameras. He deduces that the Ocellus sheep is far more intelligent than previously known. He informs his boss, Boy Kavalier, of his discovery, and he goes to the lab to see for himself. That’s when Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin) asks the sheep directly, as if it were a person, if it knows the mathematical formula pi/π. Kavalier is aware that “All advanced civilizations would know this.” So after showing him part of the equation written on his hand, he asks, “What are the next three numbers?”
RELATED ARTICLE
ALIEN: EARTH Production Designer Andy Nicholson Updates Old FuturesThe sheep taps its hooves menacingly on the ground once. Counting that as “one,” Kavalier asks for the next number. The sheep angrily taps his hooves five times. When it gets the last number correct, Boy Kavalier becomes overjoyed. This alien isn’t just smart for an animal, it’s highly intelligent, comparable to humans. Probably even smarter. When warned of the danger if this species were let loose in the human population, all Kavalier can think of is getting it into another human. He’s more than willing to sacrifice one of his own employees to see what happens.

In episode five, we saw that aboard the Maginot, the T. Ocellus escaped and took residence inside the ship’s engineer, Shmuel. In his human body, it attacked the Xenomorph, even biting it. The Xeno killed Shmuel, but the T. Ocellus escaped his eye socket, then jumped on the Xeno itself and furiously attacked it. All of this showed that the two species are definitely not friendly. But the strange sounds the T. Ocellus made while inside Shmuel sounded very similar to the sounds Wendy makes when trying to speak to them. This suggests they are, at least theoretically, from the same planet.
As far as we can tell from over four decades of this franchise, the Xenomorphs don’t seem to know how to do things like hold tools, much less something like fly a ship. But if the T. Ocellus finds itself in the right body, say another human, and for longer than a few minutes, it will easily be the smartest extraterrestrial life form we’ve seen in this franchise. We’re not sure yet, but we are under the assumption that it absorbs the knowledge of the host body. Given that scary prospect, we’re eager to see what kind of harm it can do.
Alien: Earth is currently dropping new episodes every Tuesday on FX and FX on Hulu.

ALIEN: EARTH Reveals Link Between Xenomorphs and Hybrids

Alien: Earth is going to places in this long-running franchise that it has never gone before. One of the biggest additions to the lore is the creation of the hybrids, human consciousnesses downloaded into synthetic bodies. Through the character of the hybrid Wendy (Sydney Chandler), we’ve learned in previous episodes that the Xenomorphs have an actual language. Now, in the penultimate episode, we learn that hybrids like Wendy can learn that alien language and speak to the Xenomorphs. And the lethal alien species can even cooperate with them.

In episode seven, titled “Emergence,” Wendy (formerly Marcy) and her brother Joe Hermit (Alex Lawther) attempt to escape the Neverland facility, located on a remote tropical island, presumably in the South Pacific. Dr. Arthur Sylvia, before the face hugger attacked him, managed to turn off the trackers of the hybrid “Lost Boys.” With their trackers disabled, Wendy and fellow hybrid Nibs (Lily Newmark), with Joe’s help, attempt to go to the docks and steal a boat to get off the island, realizing they are not safe under Boy Kavalier’s control.

As the three make their way through the jungle, six heavily armed Weyland-Yutani soldiers, part of Mr. Morrow’s battalion, have appeared at Neverland Island. Their plan is to get the alien specimens from Prodigy, which they consider their proprietary property, back in their hands. They ambush the trio, but Wendy has a trick up her sleeve. She let the Xenomorph escape the Neverland Research facility and allowed it to stealthily follow them in the jungle. And pretty soon, all hell breaks loose.

After making several clicking sounds, Wendy is able to communicate with the Xenomorph. We’ve known for a few episodes that she can understand them, establishing that the Xenomorphs have a language. Now we know for certain that Wendy herself can also “speak” that language. And she can direct the Xenos to act on her behalf. What happens next feels straight out of the original Predator film. The alien leaps out of the trees, and massacres the soldiers one by one. The Xenomorph slaughters all six of them in seconds.

After the attack, Wendy is able to communicate again with the creature. He heels before her like a puppy, totally freaking out her human brother. She even pets it, the blood of the soldiers still on its face. The Xenomorph then quickly runs into the jungle after Wendy talks to it again. Joe instantly asks his sister what she told it. She thinks she was able to communicate “hide and follow.” Somehow, this machine with a human soul has found a way to forge a relationship with an organism that until now, we only knew as a pure killing machine.
The fact that Wendy can speak, and at least get the Xenomorph to obey her commands, encapsulates just why Weyland-Yutani will do anything to get the alien back. As emphasized in James Cameron’s Aliens, the company wants one for their weapons division. A Xenomorph under their control makes them more powerful than any adversary. In Weyland-Yutani’s war with the other four corporations that make up “The Five,” it would give them an immense advantage. Also, Aliens established that the Xenomorphs are a kind of hive mind, with the Queen controlling the drones. If Wendy is speaking to them, it means she is functionally speaking in “Queen,” which would explain the Xenomorph’s deference to her. And this could change everything we know about the franchise.
Alien: Earth season one is currently dropping new episodes on Tuesdays on FX and FX on Hulu.

Complicated Board Game TWILIGHT IMPERIUM Going Digital for PC
Playing a game that immerses you so much you lose track of time is one of the joys of games. I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve sunk into things like Elden Ring and Hitman in recent years. You can spend all day with a game and it feels like no time at all. If you’re playing a tabletop RPG with your friends, you might sink even more time. When it comes to Twilight Imperium? Well, you’re looking at six to eight hours minimum just for a single session. Now, the TTRPG players and the video gamers can get together with the brand new video game, Twilight Imperium Digital.
Twilight Imperium Digital will bring the epic space opera narrative of the political and military struggles of factions vying for control of the galaxy from the table to your PC. The board game, which uses a massive board and hexagonal tiles. The game consists of cardboard map tiles, cards, plastic units, cardboard counters, and player sheets. The map is built from hexagonal tiles, each showing up to three planets, empty space, or a red-bordered system containing an obstacle (with additional types added in the expansions).
From the press release, “Twilight Imperium Digital brings the galaxy-spanning conflict and deep political intrigue of the classic board game to life like never before – streamlined for the digital space but retaining the depth, complexity, and iconic feel fans love. Whether forging alliances, launching full-scale invasions, or battling for control of Mecatol Rex, players will now be able to immerse themselves in the Twilight Imperium universe at any time, from anywhere.”

One of the main selling points of this digital version of the game is no set-up or clean-up as opposed to the board game version. Automated systems will handle the math and logistics so “you can focus on the strategy that matters.” For a game this massive, that will definitely allow for more pick-up-and-play sessions.
As of yet, we don’t have a release date for Twilight Imperium Digital. You can, however, wishlist it now on Steam.

Everything We Know About DUNK AND EGG Series A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS
Westeros isn’t getting any bigger, but its presence on HBO certainly is thanks to a very large and legendary knight. A second live-action Game of Thrones spinoff is coming about the Realm’s most beloved duo, Dunk and Egg. What’s the show called? Who is this famous knight and his young Targaryen squire? And why are fans of George R.R. Martin so excited to see them come to life?
Recently, we learned that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is releasing on HBO Max in January. When asked by Variety when A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms would release, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and HBO Max Content, replied “I’m going to say January. How about that?”
Here’s everything we know about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms so far.
Title
At one point the spinoff was working under the wordy title of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. But a recent report says HBO has—thankfully—dropped the latter. The prequel is now operating under the simpler name and the book it’s adapting, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ Plot
The show’s official logline provided an introduction to the series’ time period and characters. From HBO:
A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.
Fans of A Song of Ice and Fire know much more about the beloved duo’s exploits and lifelong friendship. Martin’s three novellas cover both big and small events related to Westeros during a dangerous time in the Seven Kingdoms. Dunk and Egg began their time together shortly after the second Targaryen civil war known as the Blackfyre Rebellion. The fresh wounds of that Realm-splitting battle is why Egg needed to hide his real identity while serving as Duncan’s squire.

Martin has also previously confirmed a fan theory that the honorable, noble Ser Duncan the Tall is the ancestor of Brienne of Tarth. (Though we don’t yet know how.) Despite taking place a century before its HBO predecessor, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will also have more direct ties to Game of Thrones. Brynden Rivers, Egg’s uncle and the most notorious figure in Westeros, would go on to become the Three-Eyed Raven. And Egg’s older brother is none other than Maester Aemon of the Night’s Watch.
Martin has long said he has plans for many more Dunk & Egg stories. The show could ultimately adapt those unwritten/unpublished tales into entire seasons. HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi has said the series will “ideally year-to-year and arcing out a three-season series, which maps out the three novellas that George wrote.” But that doesn’t mean it will only run three years. She also said, “Of course, we’d like more beyond that, and George is continuing to think about the remaining novellas that he still wants to write, but at this point, we have our eye on three seasons that would map out each book, each novella.”
The adult exploits of Dunk and Egg are also explored in Martin’s massive compendium book The World of Ice and Fire. (Spoilers!)

In case you missed the first footage from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms in August, Max has shared it again in a recent trailer for their 2025 slate. While A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will no longer releas in 2025, you can catch the look at the Dunk and Egg show above. The original footage from August 2024 is slightly longer.
Behind the Scenes
Martin and Ira Parker will write and serve as executive producers the show. House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal will also serve as as executive producer along with Vince Gerardis. Owen Harris (Black Mirror‘s “Be Right Back” and “San Junipero”) will direct the show’s first three episodes. Sarah Adina Smith (Lessons In Chemistry) has also come aboard to direct three of the season’s six episodes.
Production began in the spring of 2024 following the end of the writers and actors strikes.
Additionally, Martin wrote The Hedge Knight will be shorter than the other Game of Thrones series on HBO, however, it will be no less brutal, to be sure. Success for The Hedge Knight could mean other Dunk & Egg stories receive spinoffs. (And maybe Martin will even write a few more.)
Here’s what Martin shared in full.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms ‘ CastTHE HEDGE KNIGHT will be a lot shorter than GAME OF THRONES or HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, with a much different tone… but it’s still Westeros, so no one is truly safe Ira Parker and his team are doing a great job. I hope to visit the shoot come July, when I swing by Belfast on my way to the worldcon in Glasgow. The show will make its debut next year… and if it does well, THE SWORN SWORD and THE MYSTERY KNIGHT will follow. By which time I hope to have finished some more Dunk & Egg stories (yes, after I finish THE WINDS OF WINTER).

The 6’4″ tall Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters, Vikings: Valhalla) will play the legendary Ser Duncan the Tall. Young Dexter Sol Ansell (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) will serve as Dunk’s diminutive squire, the fiery secret Targaryen prince Aegon forever known as “Egg.”
Martin publicly praised Dexter Sol Ansell’s transformation into Egg.

Ser Duncan is officially here. HBO has shared the first official image from the production in Belfast and it features the “lunk” known as Dunk walking through a market. His raggedy clothes suggest this moment comes from his pre-Egg days. (Not that he’ll look that much better later. Hedge knights aren’t exactly the best dressed knights.)
The network also announced some major new cast members and their roles along with the photo’s release:
Finn Bennett as Aerion TargaryenBertie Carvel as Baelor TargaryenTanzyn Crawford as TanselleDaniel Ings as Ser Lyonel BarotheonSam Spruell as Maekar TargaryenAdditionally, the following cast members and characters have come aboard the Game of Thrones series: Edward Ashley as Ser Steffon Fossoway, Henry Ashton as Daeron Targaryen, Youssef Kerkour as Steely Pate, Daniel Monks as Ser Manfred Dondarrion, Shaun Thomas as Raymun Fossoway, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Plummer, and Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree.

CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 4: Every New Character & Their Actor
Critical Role‘s Campaign 4 is just around the corner. The fourth core chapter of the beloved TTRPG actual play series is on the way, and this time, it will be helmed by Brennan Lee Mulligan—yes, for the first time in 10 years, Matt Mercer won’t be the game’s Game Master, he’ll be in the player’s seat. Of course, he’s not the only one. Critical Role recently revealed an all-star cast of season D&D players who would be taking a seat at Campaign 4‘s table. But who they would play remained a secret… Until now. Critical Role Campaign 4 has officially revealed the character name and official character art for each of its 13 cast members/players. Let’s take a look at all the new adventurers we’ll meet in Aramán.
Every New Character From Critical Role Campaign 4: Their Name, Their Grouping, Their Character Art, and Who Plays ThemIn Critical Role Campaign 4, the characters will be divided into three groups: the Soldiers, the Seekers, and the Schemers. In short, the soldiers are “are the people who are interested in a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode—where the non-violent answers were few and far between.” The Seekers are “people that tie directly into lore, cosmology, magic, big questions around problems facing this universe that are in the weave of the dance between divinity and arcane, and magic, and demons, and fairies, and dragons, and these big kinds of questions. It’s very classical fantasy.” And the Schemers are into “intrigue, espionage, skullduggery, and relationships with each other and other NPCs and instituations and the machinations of power. Their adventuring looks like cloak and dagger.”
We believe that the Soldiers will wear orange/red. The Seekers will wear blues and purples. And the Schemers will wear teal/green.
New Critical Role Campaign 4 Characters; Jump to: Matt Mercer Will Play Sir Julien Davinos //
Travis Willingham will play Teor Pridesire // Laura Bailey will play Thimble // Taliesin Jaffe will play Bolaire Lathalia // Ashley Johnson will play Vaelus // Liam O’Brien will play Halandil Fang // Marisha Ray will play Murray Mag’nesson // Sam Riegel will play Wicander Halovar // Luis Carazo will play Azune Nayar // Robbie Daymond will play Kattigan Vale // Aabria Iyengar will play Thaisha Lloy // Whitney Moore will play Tyranny // Alex Ward will play Occtis Tachonis

Matt Mercer will play Sir Julien Davinos in Critical Role Campaign 4. If we’re correct in our estimations, Matt Mercer’s character will be one of the soldiers. Sir Julien Davinos also appears to be a human fighter or maybe a rogue.
Who Will Travis Willingham Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Travis Willingham will play Teor Pridesire in Critical Role Campaign 4. Teor Pridesire seems to be a Leonin paladin or maybe a monk. We believe Travis Willingham’s character will be part of the Seekers in Critical Role Campaign 4.
Who Will Laura Bailey Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Laura Bailey will play Thimble in Critical Role Campaign 4. Thimble seems like she belongs to the Schemers group if her grin is anything to go by. We think Thimble is likely a fairy rogue.
Who Will Taliesin Jaffe Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Taliesin Jaffe will play Bolaire Lathalia in Critical Role Campaign 4. If you ask us, Bolaire Lathalia is Jigsaw from the Saw movies OR perhaps a changeling warlock, we’ll take either. Taliesin Jaffe’s character looks to be part of the Soldiers in Critical Role Campaign 4.
Who Will Ashley Johnson Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Ashley Johnson will play Vaelus in Critical Role Campaign 4. Vaelus appears to be a drow cleric or sorcerer. Ashley Johnson’s character looks like they belong to the crew of Seekers in Critical Role Campaign 4.
Who Will Liam O’Brien Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Liam O’Brien will play Halandil Fang in Critical Role Campaign 4. Halandil Fang is a future Tusk Love cover model and/or/plus a half-orc bard. We love him already. We bet Liam O’Brien’s character joins the Soldiers in Critical Role Campaign 4. He is giving Chris Pine in the Dungeons & Dragons movie.

Marisha Ray will play Murray Mag’nesson in Critical Role Campaign 4. Murray Mag’nesson appears to be a dwarven wizard or maybe a bard. We’d bet that Marisha Ray’s character will join the Schemers.
Who Will Sam Riegel Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Sam Riegel will play Wicander Halovar in Critical Role Campaign 4. Wicander Halovar looks like a aasimar wizard or maybe a cleric. Sam Reigel’s character will most likely be a Schemer if his outfit has anything to say about it.
Who Will Luis Carazo Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Luis Carazo will play Azune Nayar in Critical Role Campaign 4. Azune Nayar comes across as a human paladin and definetly a Soldier.
Who Will Robbie Daymond Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Robbie Daymond will play Kattigan Vale in Critical Role Campaign 4. Kattigan Vale looks like a human ranger or maybe a druid or barbarian. We’re into his vibes. We’re also into Robbie Daymond’s character seemingly being a Seeker.
Who Will Aabria Iyengar Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Aabria Iyengar will play Thaisha Lloy in Critical Role Campaign 4. Thaisha Lloy seems to be a half-orc sorcerer or warlock. Aabria Iyengar’s character looks like she’ll be part of the Soldiers in Critical Role Campaign 4.
Who Will Whitney Moore Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Whitney Moore will play Tyranny in Critical Role Campaign 4. Tyranny looks like a looks like a tiefling cleric or maybe something unexpected like a monk. We feel like Tyranny is absolutely a Schemer.
Who Will Alex Ward Play in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Alex Ward will play Occtis Tachonis in Critical Role Campaign 4. Occtis Tachonis reads like a human artificer/alchemist to us. We bet that Alex Ward’s character will be a Seeker based on their mystical-looking pets. These cuties could be his familiars or maybe homunculi. He could also be a reanimator artificier, one of the Unearthed Arcana classes from D&D.
