IRONHEART Post-Credits Scene Teases More Dark Magic in the MCU
Ironheart flew to Disney+ last week and now it is over. That’s what happens when you get an entire season in two action-packed chunks. The show’s finale is quite the doozy that pits Riri and her magic fueled suit up against Parker Robbins and his twisted hood. We finally discover that the MCU character we’ve been theorizing about for years is the one who gave him such a deadly gift. And as if things cannot get worse, Riri Williams is now in a dark magic deal with Mephisto, who gave her back her best friend as well as the resources she wants. Ironheart left us on a cliffhanger with Riri and Natalie but we do get a taste of the future, thanks to a post-credits scene.
In the Ironheart post-credits scene, we see a lonely and hoodless Parker walking down the street. He goes to Stanton’s, Madeline’s very magical shop, and Zelma Stanton is working. She does her usual spiel before turning around to see Parker, who says that he needs some heavy-duty magic. Zelma shows off a bit with a candy-changing trick, but Parker says that he needs Supreme help.

Ever the charmer, he says that Zelma can get to know him and they can do a little abracadabra in the special room. There are a couple of ways we can interpret that sentence, but let’s be literal and suitable for work. Zelma is surprised that he knows about the magic room and ponders his request. But she doesn’t give him a reply before this Ironheart post-credits scene ends.
It seems like Zelma would know what Riri’s enemy looks like and also have some discernment, considering her magic powers. Without the hood, Parker is a charming criminal at best. Will that be enough to make them form a duo after this post-credits Ironheart scene? Maybe.
It’s pretty unlikely that Ironheart will get another season because it told a fairly complete story here. However, characters like Riri, Parker, Zelma, Ezekiel, and, of course, Mephisto will surely play larger roles in the MCU’s future. Although the Ironheart post-credits scene teases its specific duo, personally, I need to see Zelma Stanton and Jennifer Kale link up because they have similar energy. Make it happen, Mr. Feige.

Rob McElhenney Changes Name to Rob Mac Because Nobody Can Pronounce It
I’ve been married for a little over seven and a half years. When my wife and I discussed the various logistical things about anything legal, one thing she was adamant about was taking my last night. This was not something I care about at all; what’s in a name, and all of that. But her maiden name was hard for people to pronounce and she longed for something simple like “Anderson.” In our patriarchal society, it’s maybe the easiest way to get a simpler last name. Or, if you’re an actor like It’s Always Sunny star Rob McElhenney, you can just tell everyone your new name is “Rob Mac.”
I said what I said. pic.twitter.com/lvwKgTBBrx
— Rob McElhenney (@RMcElhenney) July 1, 2025
On Twitter (I will never call it the other thing), McElhenney posted a minute-long video explaining that he wants everyone to just call him Rob Mac because nobody can pronounce his actual surname. (It’s MACKLE-henney, for anyone curious.) He explains, he’s wasted literal years of time correcting people and talking about pronunciation. He also says that, while he loves his family and their name, he points out their specific spelling was the work of an official at Ellis Island rather than any actual Irish heritage.

As Rob points out, most people call him Rob Mac anyway. His character on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is Mac. Mac is just his name! Okay? Okay. So don’t bother trying to pronounce McElhenney anymore. Part of me wonders if this all came from finding out even people in the UK and Ireland have trouble saying it. Must have been a big blow for someone who co-owns a Welsh football club. Welcome to Wrexham, indeed.

THE BEAR Officially Coming Back for Season 5 in 2026
Is that a collective “Yes, Chef!” we hear from the crowd? The fourth season of FX and Hulu’s critically acclaimed culinary comedy/drama series The Bear just debuted, and fans of the show have been wondering if that might be the end. After all, in the streaming age, few shows seem to make it past a third season anymore. Well, worry not. We’ve learned that FX and Hulu have renewed The Bear for a fifth season, which will debut sometime in 2026. It will premiere on FX, and stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ as well. Here’s what FX president John Landgraf had to say about the renewal of the Emmy award-winning series:
The Bear continues to be a fan favorite worldwide and their response to this season—as seen through incredibly high viewership—has been as spectacular as any of its previous seasons. Year-in and year-out, Chris Storer, the producers, cast and crew make The Bear one of the best shows on television, and we are excited that they will continue to tell this magnificent story.

For its second season, The Bear garnered a whopping 11 Emmy wins. In the most recent season, which has an 85% Rotten Tomatoes score, Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri), and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Fantastic Four’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach) keep pushing forward. They are determined not only to survive, but also to take the restaurant to the next level. With new challenges around every corner, the team must adapt, adjust, and overcome. The Bear also stars Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Matty Matheson, with Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon in recurring roles. Each season consists of 10 episodes, and we expect the same for season five. For those hoping to catch up with The Bear, the first four seasons are now streaming on Hulu.

SOLAR GARDENS Board Game Lets You Build the Perfect Rooftop Garden One Tile at a Time
Are you looking for a super chill board game where you can build a world that’s far better than ours? If so, then we have the perfect solution for you. Critical Role’s tabletop gaming imprint Darrington Press is releasing Solar Gardens, a tile-drafting board game, on July 31. Solar Gardens allows 2-5 players to become a “visionary architect specializing in carbon-neutral engineering to build a rooftop garden in harmony with nature.”
Now that sounds like a vibe. Players will use their imagination and strategy to make their garden the prettiest and most environmentally conscious. Solar Gardens has a playtime of about 30-45, which means it is a perfect one to play on a random night after work.

It was developed by Eric Slauson, designed by Alex Cutler, and illustrated by Daniel Clarke, and is made of biodegradable, plastic-free materials. Thanks to a partnership with the National Forest Foundation’s Sapling Program, each purchased copy of Solar Gardens helps fund reforestation efforts in US national parks.

Solar Gardens is currently available for pre-order at Darrington Press Guild stores and Critical Role shops in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and the EU. The game retails for $44.99.
And, the above video shows you exactly how to play Solar Gardens when it arrives on July 31.

Jim Shooter, Legendary Marvel Comics Editor and SECRET WARS Creator, Dies at 73
Jim Shooter, former Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics and founder of Valiant Comics, has passed away from esophageal cancer at age 73. Legendary comic book writer Mark Waid revealed the tragic news on social media. The Pittsburgh-born Shooter was EIC at Marvel from 1978-1987, during one of the most revolutionary creative periods in the company’s history, outshone only by that of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko. During the Shooter years, Marvel Comics became the juggernaut of the comic book industry, focusing on comic book shop sales over drug store spinner racks.Marvel Comics
James Shooter had one of the wildest careers in all of comics history. Growing up a comic book fan, Shooter ended up becoming enamored with Stan Lee’s burgeoning Marvel Universe in 1963. He couldn’t understand why DC Comics, then the #1 publisher, couldn’t make superhero stories as complex and interesting as what Marvel was doing. So in 1965, at the age of 13, he started writing stories for DC’s teenage super team, the Legion of Super-Heroes. He sent them to the DC Comics offices. Editor Mort Weisinger was so impressed by the quality, he hired Shooter in 1966, not realizing his new Adventure Comics writer was all of 14 years old.

Shooter applied the Marvel storytelling method to DC’s Legion of Super-Heroes, creating new characters for the team that would endure for decades. He also created the Superman villain Parasite, who remains one of the character’s most persistent foes. By 1969, the then-18-year-old Shooter took a position at Marvel Comics. He would go back and forth between working at DC and Marvel for many years. He eventually settled at Marvel, rising up the ranks to become their ninth Editor-In-Chief in 1978. This began a tenure that produced some of the publisher’s most legendary stories.

Under Shooter’s watch, creators Chris Claremont and John Byrne took Uncanny X-Men from a C-list title into Marvel’s biggest seller. It was Shooter’s editorial insistence that Jean Grey must die in “The Dark Phoenix Saga,” catapulting the story into one of Marvel’s biggest ever. Also during Shooter’s tenure, Frank Miller reimagined Daredevil, turning him into a gritty, urban vigilante. Walter Simonson revolutionized Thor during this time, and writer Roger Stern’s runs on Avengers and Amazing Spider-Man became top sellers and fan favorites, as did John Byrne’s seminal run on Fantastic Four. The groundbreaking Iron Man storyline “Demon in a Bottle,” which established Tony Stark as a recovering alcoholic, also occurred under Shooter’s guidance.

Marvel towered completely over DC during this era in terms of sales, making Marvel’s rival seem antiquated in comparison. Shooter’s biggest contribution came in 1984 when he launched comics’ first company-wide crossover, Secret Wars. This featured all of the publisher’s main characters in a 12-part, year-long event series. The comics sold like hotcakes, and were merchandised everywhere. And Shooter wrote the series himself, believing he was the only one who could do it. Many of the stories coming from the Shooter era have formed the storytelling backbone of the MCU and the X-Men films, with Avengers: Secret Wars yet to come.

We should note, that for all his creative insight, many of Shooter’s decisions were problematic as well. He forbade writer John Byrne from revealing that mutant hero Northstar was gay, implementing a “No Gays” rule at Marvel. This was a rule Shooter himself broke, when he wrote an Incredible Hulk story where a group of men tried to sexually assault Bruce Banner. So what he really meant was no positive depictions of homosexual activity or gay characters. He also co-plotted an Avengers story where Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers becomes romantically involved with her assailant. Seemingly the Avengers gave tacit approval. Marvel would later do their best to undo these horrible decisions for years.
In the latter half of his time at Marvel, Shooter began having conflicts with many creators working for him. Marv Wolfman, John Byrne, Doug Moench, and others have gone on record as saying how much they disliked working for Shooter. This despite the fact that he pushed for a then-revolutionary royalty payments for creators. Many of Marvel’s biggest names left to work for rival DC, during a period when they were rebuilding their reputation. In 1986, Shooter launched a big initiative at Marvel called “The New Universe.” This was a separate line of comics set in a shared world made up of new heroes. When it flopped badly, the writing was on the wall, and Shooter was fired in 1987.

That wasn’t the end of Shooter’s career, however. In 1989, he co-founded Valiant Comics. Two years later, Valiant launched its own interconnected superhero universe, featuring characters from the long-gone Gold Key Comics label like Magnus, Robot Fighter, X-O: Manowar, and Solar, Man of the Atom. Valiant came right in the middle of a big boom era for comics, selling millions. Shooter would go on to found less-successful comic book companies like Defiant Comics and Broadway Comics. In 2007, he returned to DC to write the comic that started his career 40 years earlier, Legion of Super-Heroes. Although less active in comics in the 21st century, Shooter’s contributions, especially to Marvel, will never be forgotten.

FOURTH WING TV Series Taps in WANDAVISION’s Jac Schaeffer as Showrunner (Latest 2025 Updates)
In October 2023, we learned that Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society will be bringing to life a TV series based on Rebecca Yarros’ popular fantasy series, Fourth Wing. This overall deal includes all the books from the Fourth Wing universe titled The Empyrean, including its sequel Iron Flame, the newly released Onyx Storm, and the two books slated to follow. We haven’t heard too much about the Prime Video Fourth Wing TV series since that time, but there have been a few updates, including a showrunner attached, Yarros’ thoughts on casting, and a few comments from 2025. Let’s take a look! Entangled: Red Tower Books
To date, only one person was attached to Prime Video Fourth Wing TV series adaptation, and that person was Moira Walley-Beckett, who wrote on Breaking Bad and wrote and created Anne with an E. Walley-Beckett was meant to serve as showrunner. But she recently left the series. Instead, WandaVision and Agatha All Along‘s Jac Schaeffer will reportedly serve as showrunner on live-action Fourth Wing series. Schaeffer has signed an overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios and could be set to write and direct the fantasy series.
Rebecca Yarros Has Shared the Plot of the Whole Series with the TV Series TeamSomeone out there knows what’s going to happen in the book four and beyond of Fourth Wing and that’s the live-action TV show team. Yarros notes that she shared the five-book arc with at-the-time showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett and the team at Amazon so they could create the TV series from an informed place.
Yarros reveals, “So they have the five-book arc, which went a little awry in Book 3 just because the positioning, but they already know that. But they have the five-book arc and the general big points of what happens in between each book, but they don’t have the specifics between Book 4 and Book 5, because I’m getting ready to go to my crazy plotting board and plot out every single event that happens in each book, so that I make sure that I’m within my two books there. But they have general ideas. And Moira is great. She’s phenomenal.”
Fourth Wing TV Series Casting: Rebecca Yarros Confirms Xaden Will Be Played By a Person of ColorSo far, there has been no official casting news for the Fourth Wing TV adaptation. However, speaking to Variety, author Rebecca Yarros gave some insight into the casting of one important character in the live-action adaptation.
Here’s what Yarros had to say about who would be cast as Xaden, the main love interest, in the Fourth Wing TV series: “We’re just going to say he’s [Xaden] POC; we’re just going to leave it at that. I didn’t rise to the bait of a lot of those posts, which I think probably got me some flack, but I knew we were already in development for TV, and I want to make sure that role is open to as much diversity as possible. So I was never going to give the readers my vision because I know that once you give the readers your vision, that’s what they’re gonna stick to. And I wanted to make sure we left it open to as much diversity as possible.”
Yarros further noted, “Outlier is such a great production company, and they have a wonderful diversity and inclusion rider, one of the first companies to have them, which is why I was so joyful because I knew they would respect the diversity of the cast.”

Cyberpunk Classic NEUROMANCER Apple TV+ Series Officially Sets Cast, Begins Production
One of the most celebrated science fiction novels of all time is soon becoming a series for Apple TV+. Neuromancer, based on the iconic novel by William Gibson, will become a 10-episode series for the streamer. Many credit the 1984 novel for creating the cyberpunk genre. Others even cite the novel for coming up with the term “cyberspace” in the first place. Forty years later, it is finally getting a proper adaptation. This series comes from creators Graham Roland (Jack Ryan) and J.D. Dillard, with Roland serving as showrunner and Dillard directing the pilot episode. Masters of Air‘s Callum Turner will star as the series’ lead, Case.HBO
Production on Neuromancer has officially begun at Apple TV+. The streamer celebrated this news with a teaser trailer and some official announcements. Firstly, it confirmed the cast of the live-action Neuromancer series, sharing, “The cast of “Neuromancer” is led by Callum Turner and Briana Middleton, along with Joseph Lee, Mark Strong, Cleménce Poésy, Peter Sarsgaard, Emma Laird, Dane DeHaan, André De Shields Max Irons, and Marc Menchaca.”
According to the official series description, the story follows a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Henry Case, who, as mentioned, will be played by Callum Turner. He finds himself in a web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime with his partner Molly. A razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, Molly aims to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with many untold secrets. Case soon comes in contact with a powerful A.I., decades before that term was in common use. Gibson followed up the original novel with two more in what he called “the Sprawl trilogy,” Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive. It’s unknown if these 10 episodes serve as a self-contained season, or if the other books are part of this adaptation as well.
The official synopsis of Neuromancer reads, “[The series] follows a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly (played by Briana Middleton), a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.“

Neuromancer is famously the only sci-fi novel to win the Nebula Award, the Philip K. Dick Award, and the Hugo Award for an original paperback novel. Its influence is huge, and many have noticed its fingerprints on the themes and storylines of The Matrix. It’s the latest celebrated science fiction novel to receive the big-budget treatment as a series from AppleTV+, along with Isaac Asimov’s Foundation. No word yet on who will star in Neuromancer, or even when filming commences, but don’t expect to see the series on Apple TV+ before 2025.
There is no official Apple TV+ release date yet for the Neuromancer series.

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Changed a Key Scene When Fans Guessed It Online
Like it or not, modern-day internet fandom plays a part in how big IP films come to life. Especially superhero movies, where endless YouTube videos and Reddit threads exist long before the movies start shooting. And many of these fans are pretty good guessers. So it should come as no surprise that the people who make these movies lurk on Reddit to ensure that what they’re doing doesn’t match what a random fan has figured out. Via Collider, we’ve learned that’s exactly what Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts did. And when Redditors figured out how the Tobey and Andrew Spideys came into the film? He actually changed the scene. Here’s what he had to say about it:
We were writing the script, and we were working on where we wanted to reveal the guys, and it always seemed like Peter’s going to be sad because Aunt May has just died, and that the portals are going to open, and the two Spider-Men are going to step out. It’s probably a rooftop somewhere. It’s all sort of hazy. You’re still trying to figure it out. Then I was on reddit, and I was looking at people who had already made fan art of, ‘This is probably what it’s going to be like when the two Spider-Men get revealed.’ It was on a rooftop. It was sad, two Doctor Strange portals were open and two Spider-Men are stepping out. I was like, ‘Well, we can’t do that.” If that’s exactly what everyone thinks we’re going to do, we absolutely can’t do that.

Instead, the other two Peters appear at Ned’s house. Probably not the location a single fan out there ever considered. Watts said ‘Probably having the two Spider-Men appear at Ned’s Filipino grandma’s house in Queens, I don’t think anyone was doing fan art of that on Reddit.” Andrew Garfield’s Peter removing cobwebs from Ned’s grandma’s ceiling is one of our favorite parts of No Way Home. And that would have been lost if they emerged in some expected way. While we don’t think every director should worry what Redditors are theorizing, in this case, it all worked out for the best.

Original TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Film Returns to Theaters for 35th Anniversary
We now live in a world saturated with comic book movies. But it wasn’t always like this. And you might be surprised that the first genuine comic book blockbuster not about Superman or Batman was 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Now, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael are coming back to theaters for a limited engagement this summer. Fathom Entertainment and New Line Cinema will release Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on August 17 and 20 to theaters, and you can check out a special trailer for the 35th anniversary screening down below:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ 35th Anniversary theater return will also present the Turtles Unmasked featurette along with the film. The creators of TMNT: Evolution, Mutation & Reboot produced this featurette that plays before the movie. It features never before-seen footage from the archives, extended scenes, and home-recorded behind-the-scenes footage. Not to mention a 1-on-1 time and commentary with director Steve Barron.
Fun fact: Aside from TMNT, Barron also directed some of the most iconic music videos of all time, like Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” A-ha’s “Take on Me,” and Madonna’s “Burning Up.”

If you weren’t around when the movie came out, it’s hard to properly describe the fever-pitch that Turtle Mania had a hold on the world at this time. Besides the cartoon, comics, and toys, there were live shows and all kinds of other merchandise everywhere. The pop culture climate was ripe for the “Heroes in a Half-Shell” to become a blockbuster movie. The film came out right at the peak of the Turtles’ popularity. And in inflation-adjusted numbers, it would have made over 400 million dollars. You could say it was the Minecraft of its day. This release is the perfect opportunity for the now-grown-up ’90s kids to share the original Turtles with their own children.
Tickets for the 35th anniversary screening of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are now available at Fathom Entertainment.

THUNDERBOLTS* Gag Reel Sees Cast Getting Silly and Making Many Funny Noises—Exclusive Look
Thunderbolts* marked a return to form for the MCU. The franchise’s newest super squad came together in an exciting, emotional story. This unlikely union of rejects, failures, has-beens, and never-weres made for a touching and thoughtful tale of found family, purpose, and redemption. Plus it was also really freaking funny. And that was just as true off-screen as it was on. Nerdist has your exclusive first look at Thunderbolts* gag reel from the film’s upcoming home release. It’s so delightful that even Yelena Belova would laugh at it.
Are you not already 100% positive Florence Pugh is one of the most charming people on the planet? What! Why? Actually, don’t answer, because this Thunderbolts* gag reel will be all the proof you need to know she is. She’s the star of this very funny montage of on-set mistakes, mishaps, misquotes, and minor injuries. There’s also a big missed cartwheel into an open elevator. Yet somehow that’s not even the only elevator failure in this fun video. Turns out it’s hard to make a big dramatic exit when an elevator door won’t shut. The flip side is that it’s easy to turn that moment into a big laugh for cast and crew alike.
This Thunderbolts* gag reel is just one of the many bonus features MCU fans will find when the film makes its debut at both digital shops on July 1 before releasing on Blu-ray on July 29. Other extras include deleted scenes, a director’s audio commentary from Jake Schreier, and a bevy of featurettes about the making of the film.

We’ll never know for sure how many takes got interrupted by an elevator-related issue, but if more of them exist, we hope Marvel Studios saves them for the film’s tenth anniversary re-release. We loved Thunderbolts*, which really was a return to form for the MCU. But whether a movie was great or not, gag reels never disappoint. And this Thunderbolts* gag reel is certainly worthy of the new Avengers.
