New WONDER MAN Footage Shows Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Anger and Fear

Phase 6 of the MCU is coming really soon with The Fantastic Four: First Steps kicking off a new chapter in July. Marvel is lightening the load on both the big and small screen with fewer releases, and that’s rather exciting for fans. There will be more intentional focus on creating engaging and quality material and we cannot wait to see what’s coming next. As far as television, we have Wonder Man starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II heading our way in December. We haven’t seen footage from this series in a while, but Disney finally gave us another peek at Wonder Man in a :60 sizzle clip showing their remaining content for 2025. 

About 28 seconds into the clip, we see Abdul-Mateen II’s Simon Williams get an ominous warning to stay away from a certain role. However, the soon-to-be Wonder Man says he was made for it. And there’s certainly a cost for it, at least from a psychological perspective.

He smashes a table with his bare hands and screams as things start to unravel around him. Oh boy. Hopefully we will start to get more information about Wonder Man now that we are only a few months away. We know that Simon has powers and wants to land a role as a superhero in a TV show, but that’s really about it for now.

Scarlett Johansson Is the #1 Highest Grossing Actor EVER After JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH

The list of the top ten highest grossing actors of all-time is overflowing with MCU stars. According to the tracking site The Numbers, only Tom Cruise and Dwayne Johnson have achieved that feat without an MCU credit to their name. The other eight have also served as (or alongside of) Earth’s mightiest heroes. But if you want to reach the top of the box office mountain, you need more than just one blockbuster franchise on your resume. And now that Scarlett Johansson has added Jurassic World to her resume, she has vaulted to the top spot as the highest-grossing actor ever. At least for now.Universal Pictures

Jurassic World Rebirth‘s big opening weekend was a historic one for star Scarlett Johansson. As Forbes noted, the film has catapulted above her MCU colleagues Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., Zoe Saldana, and Chris Pratt in the career box office returns list. Those four round out (in that order) the highest-grossing actors ever rankings after Johansson.

While all four have each starred in films that have garnered in total more than $14 billion, Johannson’s $14,851,079,186 (and counting since Rebirth just came out) number stands above the rest, making her the highest-grossing actor ever. And she’s done that in just 36 films.

While Pratt also has three Jurassic World films on his resume, and Saldana has both Star Trek and Avatar on hers, it makes sense they’re behind Johansson. Those two missed out on the first two Avengers movies. Johansson also starred in Iron Man 2 and Captain America: Civil War.

Of course, Johannson won’t hold onto the top spot for long. There’s no guarantee she’ll ever return to the MCU, but Jackson, Downey Jr., and Pratt definitely will. When they do, they’ll add another couple billion (or five) to their career box office gross.

That is, unless Scarlett Johansson decides she wants to head to the galaxy far, far away next. Between Jurassic World and Star Wars, she’d stay at the top of this list for a long time. But we’re just speculating. Congratulations to Johannson for becoming the highest-grossing actor ever, even if it doesn’t last long, it’s worth celebrating.

The Baxter Building From THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS Is Listed on Zillow

Since their earliest days in Marvel Comics, the Fantastic Four have lived in the Manhattan skyscraper called the Baxter Building. In the MCU, it remains the central HQ and residence for the team in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. But what if they decided to sell it? There’s now a listing for the Baxter Building on Zillow, which is Marvel Studios’ way of showing off the mid-century modern design of the FF’s groovy headquarters. There’s even a video showcasing the Baxter Building’s many rooms, with real estate agent Jack West, who looks like a guy straight out of Mad Men. You can watch it right here:

The Baxter Building has a robotics lab, home to H.E.R.B.I.E., and is appropriately “flying car friendly.” This indicates that the FF are not the only folks with a Fantasticar, or something similar to it. This version of the Baxter Building is also home to the scientific think tank called the Future Foundation. The current asking price, according to the Zillow listing, is $4,444,444. Yes, that’s millions and not billions. Now, that seems pretty dirt cheap for an iconic piece of real estate in the middle of Manhattan. But remember, the Fantastic Four’s universe is in the mid-1960s. That’s why the listing says the building “even has color television!” So we’re working with ’60s-era prices here.

According to the listing, the “remarkable residence blends timeless design with the latest innovations from ReedTech.” Well, now we know what the official name of Reed Richards’ company is in the MCU. We imagine ReedTech is why there is so much advanced technology in this alternate version of the ’60s. But for all its far-out wonders, it’s the fab sixties furniture and home decor that makes us wish we had several million to hand over to the FF. Here’s hoping the Baxter Building (and the Earth) survive Galactus’ impending arrival. The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters everywhere on July 25.

James Gunn Reveals Spotify Playlists for SUPERMAN’s Main Characters

If you hadn’t already figured it out thanks to his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, director James Gunn really loves pop music. While his new Superman film won’t overflow with pop songs like his Guardians movies did, that doesn’t mean there won’t be any. And Gunn always gives serious consideration to what kind of music his characters listen to. For Superman, he’s created Spotify playlists for each of the main characters from the film, starting with the big man himself, Clark Kent. Also in this initial wave of playlists are Superman’s foes like Lex Luthor, Eve, the Engineer, and Metamorpho, the Element Man.

Clark’s playlist comes chock-full of upbeat songs. So it probably comes as no surprise that Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” is on there. That really feels like it could be Clark Kent’s anthem. As for Lex Luthor, yes, he may be a megalomaniacal evil genius. But with both David Bowie and Prince on his personal playlist, he can’t be all bad, right? His girlfriend Eve has a lot of girly pop, so tons of Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and classic Britney Spears. The Engineer likes the industrial sounds of NIN and Aphex Twin, which also seems fitting. And Metamorpho loves a lot of ’80s New Wave and synth pop, which means he has excellent taste if you ask us.

Gunn gushed about how much fun he had making these playlists in an Instagram post, which you can view above. You can tell that in Gunn’s eyes, what a person listens to on the regular is a window into their soul. As for the rest of the main characters’ playlists for Superman, The Daily Planet’s Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen’s playlists arrive on July 8. After that, Justice Gang members Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, and Green Lantern show off their musical preferences on July 11. Which, of course, is the same day Superman opens in theaters everywhere.

A ‘Not Appropriate’ Dinosaur Sex Scene Almost Happened in JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH

Dinosaurs need love, too, and in Jurassic World Rebirth, we got to see two prehistoric creatures cuddling up during a dino kissing scene. It was strangely sweet, but screenwriter David Koepp wanted it to be much sexier. Much, much sexier. As in, he turned in a Jurassic World Rebirth draft of the film that featured a full-blown dinosaur sex scene that had to get cut because it was “not appropriate.”Universal Pictures

After nearly three decades away, Jurassic Park and Lost World writer David Koepp returned to the franchise to pen Jurassic World Rebirth. What new ideas did he come up with, and why after all those years? In a spoiler-heavy interview with IndieWire about Jurassic World Rebirth, Koepp said his kissy dinosaur scene was originally a much more graphic sex scene.

Koepp said it was “tricky” writing his dino mating scene because it wasn’t clear how far he should go. And at one point, he apparently went as far as he could. One draft, that he actually turned into the studio, he said he wrote, “They approach the dinosaurs in the field. Let’s just put it this way, they have eight legs between them, but only six are on the ground.”

If you want to take a moment to imagine what that dinosaur sex scene looks like, do it on your own time. We try to keep things family-friendly around here. Or, at least, that’s what we’re claiming to get past any dirty dino thoughts.

While Koepp (correctly) thought the dinosaur sex scene was very funny, he said it was ultimately inappropriate for the movie. But that doesn’t mean it will always be true. During his interview, he talked about how his Jurassic World Rebirth script used the raft scene from Michael Crichton’s original novel because, while he loved it, that was not something they could have done well in 1993. So who knows, in 30 years, when a Jurassic World screenwriter desperate to do something new with the franchise’s 37th installment might think a full-fledged dinosaur sex scene is more than appropriate.

Christopher Nolan’s THE ODYSSEY Trades One Tom Hardy Look-Alike for Another in Cast

What is a director, even one of Hollywood’s best, supposed to do after delivering an epic Best Picture winner? For Christopher Nolan, the answer is making one of the most famous epics ever. After some wild speculation and some big name casting news, we finally know exactly what story he will after Oppenheimer. Universal Pictures announced Nolan’s next movie is an adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey.

Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.

The Latest Casting News From Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

Most recently, Shōgun star Cosmo Jarvis joined the cast of The Odyssey and then left it. Reportedly, Logan Marshall-Green will be taking his place. That’s a Tom Hardy look-alike traded for a Tom Hardy look-alike. We bet Marshall-Green will be playing a suitor. Mia Goth also recently came aboard The Odysseys‘s cast, increasing the brightness of an already massively star-powered cast. There is no casting yet for Goth.

Additionally, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Ryan Hurst, and Samantha Morton have joined The Odyssey. Once again, we don’t know who they will play in this film, but we do have some guesses.

Deadline also revealed that Oppenheimer‘s Benny Safdie will reteam with Christopher Nolan on The Odyssey. In Oppenheimer, Safdie played physicist Edward Teller, but it’s not yet known who the actor will play in this upcoming adventure.

Christopher Nolan isn’t known to do anything by halves, and for his latest movie, The Odyssey, he’s taking his crew to the real-life location that Homer supposedly imagined Odysseus visited, Goat Island in Siciliy—also known as Favignana island. Reports indicate the movie will also film in Sicily’s Eolian islands, U.K. and Morocco.

But what could measure up to a real-world location that Odysseus wandered through in his epic tale, cooking goats and gathering supplies? Nothing, if you ask us.

More About Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan is moving on after Oppenheimer by going back. Way back. Described as a “mythic action epic,” his version of the ancient epic poem The Odyssey will rely on cutting edge technology to bring the story to life. Universal Pictures said the longtime IMAX enthusiast will be using “brand new” tech to shoot for the large-scale format.

But how he will shoot the film isn’t nearly as interesting as to what the film is actually about. It’s hard to imagine anyone would have guessed Nolan would adapt The Odyssey even if they had 20 years to figure it out. (If you don’t get that reference, this movie will be very educational for you!) Even then, there’s still so much we don’t know about the project. Will this be a traditional, faithful adaptation? Will it be a modern take on the story? And will Armand Assante and George Clooney appear for a Spider-Man: No Way Home style crossover?

While we don’t know any setting or style specifics, we do know who is playing Odysseus. Matt Damon is set to lead the star-studded film. Nolan’s The Odyssey will also feature Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Jon Bernthal, and Charlize Theron. We also know the movie will arrive in theaters on July 17, 2026.

That gives us plenty of time to start guessing which legendary characters from Homer’s epic everyone is going to play. (Theron as Circe, Calypso, Penelope, or Athena? She’s perfect for literally all of them.) It also gives us time to wonder just how good this movie will be. No one delivers epics live Christopher Nolan. What’s he going to be capable of when he makes one of the most famous epics ever?

CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS 2 Is Sadder, Bloodier Anime Series From CYBERPUNK 2077 World

A new anime series is coming to the world of Cyberpunk 2077. And even though it’s titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, this new anime will be a standalone entry into the universe. In celebration of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 announcement, Netflix even released a teaser trailer for the show. And it promises to be the saddest, bloodiest entry the franchise has seen so far. Yes. We absolutely feel excited for this one.

The official description for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 shares, “David is dead. But Night City lives on. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is now in production! Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077— a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”

What extremes indeed? That’s a great question within the universe of Cyberpunk 2077, and without. Showrunner and writer Bartosz Sztybor shared more about the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2‘s anime story. He revealed, “I just wanted to make the whole world sad… when people are sad, I’m a bit happy,” Sztybor added that the new Cyberpunk series would be“…of course, sadder, but it will be also darker, more bloody, and more raw.” Further noting, “David’s story might be over, but there’s plenty more to discover in Night City. And to again have the legendary animation studio TRIGGER along for the ride makes us at CD PROJEKT RED so excited to introduce a raw, real chronicle of redemption and revenge, something unlike what we’ve done before.”

Strap in folks, sound like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will be an intense experience for all. But don’t expect to see any characters back from the dead. As mentioned, David, the main character of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, is dead. And Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is not a continuation of that anime story, rather it’s “an entirely new story,” with “fresh characters, and a raw, realistic take on the most dangerous city of the dark future.” As noted up top, the title is a bit misleading, but the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime series come together as more of an anthology than anything else.

But hopefully, fans will enjoy the new story that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has to tell and all of that will come together into a show that matters. As mentioned, CD PROJEKT RED and animation studio TRIGGER will come together to create Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Netflix additionally shares, “Director Kai Ikarashi (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, SSSS.Gridman) brings a bold, cinematic vision to the series, supported by the lead character designer Kanno Ichigo (Promare, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners). They’re joined by returning collaborators Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare) and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor as Showrunner, Story Writer, and Producer.”

James Gunn and Zack Snyder Traded SUPERMAN Barbs on RICK AND MORTY

James Gunn knows some fans of the Snyderverse aren’t happy about him taking over at DC. But you know who doesn’t have a problem with the Superman director? The last Superman director. Zack Snyder and Gunn both took some playful jabs at one another when they played themselves on the latest superhero-movie centric episode of Rick and Morty.Adult Swim

Episode seven of Rick and Morty season eight, “Ricker than Fiction,” took on soulless A.I., tired blockbuster movie franchises, Hollywood, and toxic fandom in an episode starring James Gunn. And we do mean starring, as the co-CEO of the DCU was a major part of the story from start to finish, as he played the main antagonist.

The episode followed a very angry Rick and Morty confronting Gunn over a disappointing installment of the Maximum Velocitree franchise. After taking the constantly re-written script for the 10th installment, Rick fed it into his “Movie-lizer” machine to create a more satisfying story and ending. Instead the machine “Last Action Hero-ed” the two as they got sucked into the film.

The two spent most of the episode trying to create an ending that would free them from their digital prison. Meanwhile, in the real world, Gunn ran into Snyder at the Warner Bros. commissary. There the two had a very funny, very meta conversation. A creatine-eating Snyder told Gunn, “Just saw your new cut of Superman and word of advice. He’s the Man of Steel, not the Man of Conversation.” Snyder then explained the “secret” of filming punches in regular speed before slowing them down. That led Gunn to blow up at him about how everyone knows that.

Ultimately, though, the animated Snyder was very supportive of the animated Gunn. He even offered Gunn advice on ignoring the whims of the smartest man in the universe (which included a dig at former Warner Bros. stalwart Christopher Nolan) as both wondered if fans actually can do their job.

While that was Snyder’s only appearance, Gunn remained a huge part of the episode, which ended with his own ridiculous death after he stole the “Movie-lizer” for Warner Bros. But this episode wouldn’t have happened without Warner Bros. approval. Rick and Morty‘s executive producer Scott Marder told Variety that when writer Rob Schrab reached out Gunn not only said yes immediately he ran it up the proverbial flagpole to get the okay from Warner Bros., which distributes Ricky and Morty.

The show wasn’t sure Gunn would have time because of Superman. But he came to the recording studio the same day he finished the movie’s principle production. With both Gunn and Snyder on board Dan Harmon took it upon himself to write their funny Superman talk. The two directors then recorded back-to-back, which is also when Gunn took the photo of the two of them together. (Though no one outside of the show knew why they were together at the time.)

Will this episode stop some Snyder fans from having contempt for James Gunn’s DCU? Probably not, but it’s the best—and funniest—proof why they shouldn’t.

WEDNESDAY’s Isaac Ordonez on Pugsley Being an the Ultimate Outcast and Finding Power

Wednesday season two will be here in two snaps. Well, not that soon. But we are heading back to Nevermore on August 6 to catch up with our favorite little storm cloud. This season, we will get to know more about the other Addams family members, including Wednesday’s little brother Pugsley. Sure, he’s the butt of many of her deadpan jokes and the subject of her torturous experiments. But Pugsley Addams is coming to Nevermore Academy and he’s trying to find his way among a crowd of outcasts. We caught up with Isaac Ordonez to chat about his expanded role in Wednesday season two, working with Tim Burton, and more. 

Nerdist: Before you joined Wednesday’s cast, what was your relationship with the Addams family franchise? What made you want to join the series? 

Isaac Ordonez: I saw the first season of the black and white series. I didn’t see the second season because it wasn’t on Amazon at the time. Then I saw the movies. I did see the animated movie as well because that has quite a bit of Pugsley and Tim Burton, and I’ve seen majority of his big movies. I grew up with him. Something I saw that separated Pugsley from the rest of the family members is that he’s an outcast among outcasts, but he also had this crazy mischievous mindset.

Those are indeed consistent character traits for Pugsley in all his many appearances. Now, in Wednesday season two, we will get to see Pugsley alongside his sister at Nevermore Academy. What do you think he wants out of that experience?

Ordonez: Friends! I think he assumes that because Wednesday is well known and has all these stories that he was going to be so popular. But that’s not quite the case. 

I can see that. The younger sibling who sort of lives in the shadow of their older sibling and wants to forge his own path. And hopefully he can find his way with his newfound powers. How are you hoping that he develops his powers and as a person in the future? 

Ordonez: We see him use them a lot… This season, I saw pretty big growth in Pugsley. I think he learns a lot of lessons and starts to take things more so for granted.

We cannot wait to see what happens! I’d love for you to talk a little bit more about your filming experience this season. What was it like working with Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton and establishing your place within the set’s dynamic? 

Ordonez: I think working with such big names and such talented people influences how I act. I feel like I get better at my job just by watching them through the monitor and picking up some of this stuff that they’re doing. I love it. Jenna is amazing. 

It sounds like a great experience! You’re a part of that talented circle, too. Don’t forget that. 

Ordonez: I appreciate that!
