ULTRAMAN LIVE Stage Show Coming to America This Fall
Ultraman first debuted in Japan way back in 1966. And nearly six decades later, the Japanese hero remains a fan favorite with a very devoted following. And staged Ultraman Live events have been a part of the franchise for decades now. Today, Tsuburaya Productions announced Japan’s iconic hero will again leap from screen to stage with Ultraman LIVE. This new live stage show is coming to the American Dream Mall in New Jersey from November 15-23. The American Ultraman stage show will showcase Kaiju battles, a few surprise appearances, and LED visual effects. Ultraman LIVE will even include a special appearance by Christopher Sean, voice of Ken Sato and Ultraman in Netflix’s Ultraman: Rising.Tsuburaya Productions/Bandai Namco
In this live show, also dubbed Ultraman Hero Premiere 2025, Earth is under attack by some of the franchise’s most menacing kaiju. Ultraman Omega and his comrades must rely on their acrobatic skills, martial arts, amazing weapons, and signature power beams to save the planet. In a statement, Bandai’s Jeff Gordon said, “Bandai is excited to bring the highly skilled and talented live action performances from Tsuburaya Productions to US audiences and help fans build a deeper connection with this iconic character. We look forward to supercharging fan excitement for Ultraman and bringing Bandai’s world-class products that will extend the play for fans beyond this event.”
The new show will star Ultraman Omega, the latest hero in the Ultraman lineup from the titular Ultraman Omega series. The live show will launch not too far ahead of the series’ English dub North American streaming debut this November. No word yet on whether this Ultraman Live show will be broadcast in other states besides New Jersey or go on tour at any point. Ultraman is celebrating its 60th Anniversary in 2026 (along with Star Trek and Batman ’66, quite a pivotal nerd year). So let’s hope this Ultraman Live show finds a way to be seen by fans from all over the country.
Although we don’t yet have images from the new show, you can get a glimpse of what’s to come by taking a look at the images below. These spotlight the previous Japanese Ultraman live show, as well as a promotional Ultraman event at the American Dream.

THE OLD GUARD 2 Cast Reveals Their Epic Weapons (Exclusive)
Did you know that The Old Guard was Netflix’s first tentpole woman-led action movie? And now it’s a full-fledged franchise because The Old Guard 2 is officially available to stream on Netflix. And there’s little that could be more exciting than that. The Old Guard 2 brings back everything that made the first film so undeniably good: a talented cast, sizzling queerness, women you do not want to cross, and yep, a whole lot of action-packed thrills. At Nerdist, we’re thrilled to take you deeper into the fray of the immortals and offer you a closer look at the weapons our favorite characters so deftly wield in The Old Guard 2. If that weren’t enough, we have some exclusive insights from the cast on what it was like to clash, slash, and charge with their weapons of choice. Netflix
Welcome to the Weaponry of the Old Guard 2
KiKi Layne’s Nile Sees Her Spear as an Extension of Herself in The Old Guard 2There’s nothing worse than a fight scene without heart. But thankfully, you won’t find any of that in The Old Guard 2, especially not when it comes to KiKi Layne’s returning character Nile. Layne reveals that Nile is very aware of her humanity; she just happens to be immortal, so no fight leaves her completely unscathed. However, at the same time, Nile’s weapon of choice is a poetic one, reflecting her love of culture and Layne’s love of storytelling. Don’t miss Nile wielding her extraordinary staff in The Old Guard 2.

In full, Layne shares:
Nile finds this long spear — a double-headed staff — during a fight in an Italian villa, and it speaks to her. Nile loves art and history, and there’s something about it that’s very reminiscent of African weapons. It was fun for me, this idea of using your body for storytelling, and asking, “How does the weapon become an extension of your character?” We tried to be very specific with the reactions. If you get hit here, is that taking the air out of you a little bit? What sound might you make in reaction to that? It’s important to show that just because we keep living, it doesn’t mean we stop hurting. I think that’s one of the themes that so many people responded to in the first film — there was so much humanity. We’re not superheroes. These characters are human beings who just happen to be immortal. It doesn’t mean that they don’t experience grief and loss and all these emotions that we go through on a daily basis.

Casting a diverse group of actors is critically important in every film. But it becomes especially powerful when actors are allowed to reflect their own heritages through their characters, allowing their work to be even more personal and stirring. We’re so thrilled to know that Henry Golding was able to bring his own ancestry into his role as Tuah in The Old Guard 2. If Tuah had simply wielded any kind of dagger, chances are we would not get the resonating performance that Golding was able to deliver with a kris, a dagger that hails from Silat and Southeast Asia.

Golding tells us:
We had the most amazing stunt team. Something that I decided really early on in the training was to give Tuah a certain style different than all the other immortals. For me, it was about bringing my Malaysian heritage to the fore through Silat, which is an ancient martial art that is practiced all around Southeast Asia. It’s almost like a dance in some respects. Tuah has this really amazing fluidity. And Victoria Mahoney was amazing in allowing me to choose my weapon. There was something set aside but it had no relevance to me. I said, “I’d like to choose something that represents my history, my past.” I chose a kris, which is sort of a wavy dagger — extremely deadly. And that is iconic to Silat and Southeast Asia.

Quynh and Andy’s story is as tragic as it is beautiful. It’s easy to be distracted by the pair when they appear together in a scene. But even if it’s hard, tear your eyes away from their clash to take a look at the gorgeous knives that Quynh is using in the fight. They’re called phoenix knives, and we’re obsessed.

Ngô notes, “At one point, she has this long sword, but she fights Andy with these two beautifully designed knives. I love those phoenix knives that were especially designed for Quynh.”

Oh, Booker. Booker, Booker, Booker. In The Old Guard, we saw Booker betray his friends and leave them to be captured by nefarious forces. In The Old Guard 2, Booker is burdened by the guilt of his actions and seeks redemption. Ultimately, he finds it, but it’s no easy path. Booker has less grace than his teammates but also more scrap. He’s willing to get down and dirty, and that means grabbing whatever is around him so he can survive.

Schoenaerts shares, “His attitude is ‘whatever works.’ He’s a guy who’s going to make sure he’s not going to go down and he’ll use anything. He doesn’t work with specific weapons, he’s not as specialized as Nicky and Joe, or Nile and Andy. He’s more of a scrapper — like a brawler, like a streetfighter.”
Marwan Kenzari’s Joe Handles a Single-Edge Middle Eastern Sword Like a DancerJoe and Nicky’s love for one another is hands-down one of our favorite parts of The Old Guard. And we would have loved to see a little bit more of them in the Old Guard 2. Still… that’s what The Old Guard 3 could be for if it happens. We NEED to see them again, especially after listening to Marwan Kenzari discuss their differing but complementary fighting style, which has us melting.

Kenzari muses, “Yes, it’s a single-edged Middle Eastern sword. It has a blade on one side, so it’s lighter than Nicky’s sword. Since it’s very flexible, there’s a lot of wrist work — it’s a lot of cuts instead of the very big movements that Luca Marinelli has. He’s got a big King Arthur–type of sword. Mine is a bit more like a dancer.”

We love the thought of Nicky as one of King Arthur’s knights, swinging in broad movements while Joe fluidly watches his back. We also love how both Kenzari and Marinelli discuss the relationship between Joe and Nicky as they reflect on their The Old Guard 2 weapons. The characters, weapons, and relationship all blend together perfectly.

Marinelli shares, “He has a long two-handed sword. It’s the weapon that he started out with as a fighter in the Crusades. The moment that I took it in my hand again, it was kind of touching because it was like the first step in coming back to Nicky.”
The Old Guard 2, its incredible characters, and epic weapons are all streaming now on Netflix.

KING OF THE HILL Revival Trailer: Hank Hill Takes on Vegans, Fruity Beer, and Nepo Babies in Season 14
The return of the king is upon us. No, we don’t mean The Lord of the Rings’ king of men, Aragorn. We’re talking about THE King, the king of the hill that is. Yes, Hank Hill is back in all his earnest, ornery glory, and this time, he’s taking on the scariest of perils yet. Perils that Aragorn could only dream of defeating. Yes, in the King of the Hill revival series, also known as King of the Hill season 14, Hank Hill is taking on… the modern day. And that includes (among other things) vegans, fruity beer, all gender bathrooms, and the true horror, soccer. You can check out the full King of the Hill revival trailer below.
We’re glad to see that the King of the Hill revival is right back to its usual antics in the full trailer for season 14. All the usual suspects are in place once again, including Hank Hill, Peggy Hill, their son Bobby, and Hank’s motley crew of pals: Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Hank and Peggy have been away from their beloved Texas for a while in King of the Hill season 14, but this revival is plunging them back into everything the modern United States has to offer. Will Hank Hill be able to adjust to the times in this King of the Hill revival? We know he will in his own way.
The truth is that, in its funny, often outrageous way, King of the Hill has always been a forward-thinking show, tackling contentious topics in a way that can reach a wide range of audiences. We can see from this trailer that in season 14, the King of the Hill revival will continue this legacy. And honestly, it’s more needed than ever.

Alongside the revival trailer, King of the Hill has shared a synopsis for its season 14, which notes, “After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane.”

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM Reboot Is in Development
If you love the idea of wax dolls, ancient temple guards, and skeletons coming to life via an ancient magical tablet today is a very good day. Or rather, it’s a very good night. Night at the Museum is getting rebooted.20th Century
Deadline reports Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment is developing a new Night at the Museum movie for 20th Century Studios. Levy directed all three previous movies in the franchise. Tripper Clancy, whose notable screenwriting credits include Stuber and Die Hart, is penning the script.
While Levy will produce the reboot/reimagining new entry alongside 21 Laps Dan Levine, not much else will apparently remain the same. While there is no official synopsis, the film will feature new characters. Whether it will return to New York’s Museum of Natural History is also unclear. That was the setting of the first movie, an adaptation of Milan Trenc’s 1993 children’s book.

Restarting with a whole new cast of characters will pose an interesting challenge. It will mean hiring some big Hollywood stars if this new entry wants to compete with the original films. They starred Ben Stiller as the night watchman who learns his museum’s exhibits come to life after hours. He first played the role Larry Daley in the 2006 movie as well as 2009’s Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and 2014’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.
All three films also starred Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt. The franchise also starred big names like Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Rami Malek, Amy Adams, Hank Azaria, Carla Gugino, Bill Hader, Dan Stevens, Ricky Gervais, Rebel Wilson, Christopher Guest, Jon Bernthal, Ben Kingsley, and .
Will anyone reprise their role in this new Night at the Museum era? Fans of the franchise know anything is possible once the museum’s doors close for the night.

THE BIG BANG THEORY Stuart Spinoff Gets a Greenlight From HBO and a REALLY Weird Synopsis
The Big Bang Theory (the show, not the actual theory) is rather divisive among the geeky and nerdy folks in the world. The long-running sitcom made some people feel seen in mainstream culture, while others raised an eyebrow at how it portrays nerds. Either way, The Big Bang Theory is a part of pop culture history, ending in 2019 with a whopping 12 seasons under its belt. And it did give fans a prequel spinoff, Young Sheldon, which is already six seasons into its story. Obviously, people dig this universe. As of April 2023, another spinoff of The Big Bang Theory named Stuart Fails to Save the Universe was in the works. Now, over two years later, Variety reports that this series got the greenlight from HBO. Warner Bros. Television
There’s casting news for this The Big Bang Theory spinoff as well. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is adding Brian Posehn (Bert Kibbler, a geologist at Caltech), Lauren Lapkus (Denise, the assistant manager of Stuart’s comic book store and his eventual love interest), and Kevin Sussman (comic book store owner Stuart Bloom) to its cast. Still, we will have to see if the show gets an official greenlight to come to our TV screens.
If you’re wondering whether Jim Parsons will return and reprise his role as Sheldon Cooper, it is not likely. But it is also not impossible, according to Parsons himself. According to Deadline, Jim Parsons talked about a possible Big Bang Theory return on Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace? recently.
“As we sit here now, no, but I also I would I never say never to anything, because life just changes so much,” said Parsons. “You know, one of the things is that it was so special as what it was as what it is. And they call it lightning in a bottle for a reason, and you can be certain it wouldn’t be that. And so why would we be doing it? I don’t know that that’s how I feel on that right now. But like I say, God willing, life is very long.”

According to a press release, The Big Bang Theory executive producer and creator Chuck Lorre is developing this comedy spinoff project. Lorre has an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television to craft content. We don’t know a ton of details about this The Big Bang Theory spinoff, but we do have a brief-ish synopsis:
“Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Sussman) is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise (Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Posehn), and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke (Bowie). Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from ‘The Big Bang Theory.’ As the title implies, things don’t go well.”
So it seems like there will be some returning characters after all! Maybe there will be a few Bazinga moments in the mix. We shall see… More news on this The Big Bang Theory spinoff project is sure to come.

Grant Gustin Wants to Play the Flash in the New DCU (And Here’s How It Could Work)
The new DCU is officially off to the races with James Gunn’s new Superman film. And fans are, of course, already wondering which classic DC Comics heroes are going to populate this new universe. At the recent FAN EXPO Denver, Grant Gustin was on hand for a special Q&A. Via ScreenRant, we learned that at the panel, a fan asked Gustin, “If James Gunn cast you in his DCU, who would you want to play?” which led to the DC TV star answering very quickly by saying “Flash.”
“If James Gunn cast you in his DCU, who would you want to play?”

GRANT IMMEDIATELY ANSWERING WITH “FLASH”. The agenda is still going strong, people. 🙂↕️⚡️ pic.twitter.com/A8oC9tPB0C
Now, you’re probably asking, how could this even work? The CW’s Arrowverse is over, and it had a good, long run. Six shows that ran for several seasons are nothing to sneeze at. And whatever form DC’s Scarlet Speedster takes in Gunn’s DCU, it will almost certainly be a new actor, even though Gunn often praises Gustin’s take on the character. But what if there’s a way to have both? The answer to that lies in DC Comics’ long history.

Between nine seasons of CW’s The Flash and three appearances in the DCU, the Barry Allen version of the Flash is pretty played out. But the new DCU does need a Flash in it. He’s too important to the greater DC Comics mythology for DC Studios to go without a Flash. But the DCU Flash should be Wally West, not Barry. However, Wally’s existence is predicated on Barry Allen having been the Flash before him, and his growing up as his crime-fighting partner, Kid Flash. When Barry dies heroically, Wally takes up the mantle and becomes the new Flash as a young twenty-something.

We doubt that, after the 2023 Flash movie tanked at the box office, DC Studios is in a rush to make another one so soon. But Flash as a property has already proven itself to work on TV, so maybe an HBO Max series for the DCU Flash, who would now be Wally, would work. It’s the same approach DC Studios took to the Green Lantern franchise, since it might be tough to sell moviegoers on another Green Lantern film after the 2011 Ryan Reynolds debacle. And all signs point to the eventual DCU Justice League being based on the animated version. In that, Wally West was the team’s resident Flash.
So if Wally is the new Flash, that means Barry has to exist in this universe. And why not, since this DCU has 300 years of superheroic history? Even if he dies early on, he’s got to appear at least for a brief time. So why not use the Barry everyone knows and loves, Grant Gustin? He wouldn’t be the exact same version as Arrowverse Barry of course. But to use Marvel terminology, he could be a variant.
Maybe to differentiate, they could make him blonde like the comics. The casting of Gustin would lend automatic viewer attachment to this Barry. And it would make his death a bigger moment. When the Flash races to the DCU, we think Gunn would be wise to take this approach.

Everything We Know About DUNE: PART THREE
Dune: Part Two ended with Muad’Dib fulfilling his own terrible vision and leading the Fremen on a holy war throughout the galaxy. What happened after the Kwisatz Haderach left Arrakis? We’re going to find out when director Denis Villeneuve completes his third and final film in the franchise, which will adapt the novel Dune: Messiah. Who will star in his next spice-y epic? When will it come out? And what can we expect from the movie? Here’s everything we know about Dune: Part Three so far.
Title
This Dune movie is based on Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah, his second novel in the series. Denis Villeneuve has also said he is not making a traditional trilogy with his three films, but rather that he made a “diptych” with his first two installments. However, the film’s official title still seemingly makes it read as the third movie in a trilogy. It’s called Dune: Part Three.
Dune: Part Three‘s Plot
While there is no official synopsis for the film yet, Villeneuve is adapting Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah. The director has said the movie will take place roughly 12 years after the end of Part Two, be “completely different” from the first two movies, and “will finish the Paul Atreides arc.”
Changes Villeneuve made in his first two movies will have a butterfly effect on Dune: Part Three, but the novel’s synopsis provides an idea of the general story. Here’s Dune: Messiah‘s synopsis from the official Frank Herbert website:
Behind the Scenes
Dune Messiah continues the story of Paul Atreides, better known—and feared—as the man christened Muad’Dib. As Emperor of the known universe, he possesses more power than a single man was ever meant to wield. Worshipped as a religious icon by the fanatical Fremen, Paul faces the enmity of the political houses he displaced when he assumed the throne—and a conspiracy conducted within his own sphere of influence.
And even as House Atreides begins to crumble around him from the machinations of his enemies, the true threat to Paul comes to his lover, Chani, and the unborn heir to his family’s dynasty…

In addition to directing, Villeneuve once again co-wrote Dune: Part Three with Jon Spaihts. The two penned the previous installments together. The movie comes from Legendary Pictures with Warner Bros. Pictures serving as the distributor.
The legendary Hans Zimmer will also return to the franchise to compose the score.
Production on Dune: Part Three officially began on July 7, 2025, in Budapest.
Dune: Part Three‘s Cast
Dune: Part Three will see the return of Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Paul’s sister Alia.
Jason Momoa also revealed/spoiled he’ll also be back as Duncan Idaho, even though the character died in Dune: Part One. His son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, and Silo’s Ida Brooke will join the franchise as Paul Atreides’ twin children, Leto II and Ghanima. In Dune: Messiah, they are also the children of Chani, but after the end of Dune: Part Two, it’s unclear if that will still be true in Villeneuve’s adaptation.

Dune: Part Three will also introduce Robert Pattinson as Scytale, one of the major villains of Dune: Messiah.
It’s unclear if Rebecca Ferguson will reprise her role as Paul’s mother, Lady Jessia, but we are hopeful she will.
Dune: Part Three‘s Release Date
Dune: Part Three is scheduled to arrive in theaters for its unholy holy war on December 18, 2026.

TWISTED METAL Season 2 Trailer Introduces the Tournament Lineup and Calypso Chaos
It’s time for the Twisted Metal tournament to commence. Last season, Twisted Metal ended with John not getting quite what he wanted after making a key delivery. He wants to leave after realizing the quiet, blissful life he thought he wanted ain’t it, but instead he’s forced into being Raven’s driver in a tournament. That’s what leads us to Twisted Metal season two, and the trailer gives us our competing lineup and a lot of Calypso chaos.
In the clip, Calypso himself addresses the competitors (and us, the audience), saying that he’s hosting the ultimate tournament. Whomever wins it all will get one special wish. What will it be? Well, we don’t know what that would entail for John, who already experienced what he thought he wanted.
