GODZILLA DESTROYS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE Cover Mashes Up the Iconic Kaiju with Wolverine

Godzilla has a long history with the Marvel Universe. Back in the ’70s, he even had his own Marvel Comics series that lasted two years. In those stories, he breathed his atomic fire on heroes like Nick Fury, and even the Fantastic Four. And this summer, the King of the Monsters returned to Marvel in the event series Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe. Thanks to the official Godzilla blog, we’ve learned that issue four’s cover is mashing up the iconic kaiju with THE X-Man, Wolverine. Yes, that means Godzilla can now add adamantium claws to his deadly arsenal. You can check out the “Wolverine-Zilla” variant, by artist Dave Wachter, for Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #4 down below:The Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe issue #4 "Wolverine-Zilla" Variant by Dave Wachter.Marvel Comics/TOHO

And here’s the official synopsis for Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #4, as well as the other two variant covers:

GODZILLA SMASH! It’s Godzilla versus the rampaging Hulk – and this time, the green goliath has a fistful of science as he takes on the King of the Monsters! Plus, as the two titans clash, the rest of the Marvel Heroes make a desperate ploy to keep the earth-shattering confrontation from literally tearing apart the planet! Trust us, True Believers, you’re not going to want to miss a single page of action – especially not the last page with a reveal so shocking, it might just send the villain Electro into an early retirement!

GDTMU issue #4 features a cover by Mark Brooks, showing Godzilla looming over heroes Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and the Thing. The other variant cover by artist ACO showcases Godzilla and Spider-Man swinging into action. The fourth issue of the series arrives in comic shops, as well as online, on October 15. You don’t won’t want to miss out on this epic battle of the century.

New HELLRAISER Video Game Brings Back Clive Barker and Original Pinhead, Doug Bradley

It’s been a while since we’ve heard any new news from the twisted realm of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser. The last movie reboot of the franchise came out in 2022. That’s the last time we’d heard anything from Pinhead and the other Cenobites. Now, via Comic Book, we’ve learned that Hellraiser is officially getting a single-player survival game from Saber Interactive entitled Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival. This is the first official video game taking place in the Hellraiser universe. Boss Team Games, the studio behind Evil Dead: The Game, is developing it. You can check out the truly unnerving official announcement trailer down below:

The protagonist of this game is a new character by the name of Aidan. The storyline follows his attempts to rescue his girlfriend Sunny from the depths of Hell. First, by making a pact with the malevolent Cenobite, Pinhead. And then, by unlocking the Genesis Configuration, using it to escape the realm of eternal torture that is the Labyrinth. Fans of the franchise will finally hear a very familiar voice as Pinhead again, as original actor Doug Bradley returns to voice the character. This is the first time Bradley has portrayed the character since 2005’s Hellraiser: Hellworld. The trailer for Hellraiser: Revival also featured the iconic music from Barker’s original films.

Fans will be happy to know Clive Barker himself also returned to work on this new game as a consultant. According to the official Playstation blog, “the Hellraiser universe is defined by its unflinching exploration of pain, pleasure, and the thin and terrifying line that separates the two. That essence is at the heart of our game.” Saber Interactive has also revealed that there will be two special Collector’s Editions including an exclusive Puzzle Box, and a special Hellraiser statue for displaying it. We don’t have an official release date yet for Hellraiser: Revival. However, Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games revealed it would launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Steam.

Ozzy Osbourne, Heavy Metal’s ‘Prince of Darkness,’ Dead at 76

One of the originators of British heavy metal music, the iconic Ozzy Osbourne, has passed away at age 76. The sad news comes to us via Variety. His family released a statement, saying “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.” The Rock’ n’ Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, known for songs like “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley,” ultimately succumbed to Parkinson’s disease. From 1969-1979, Ozzy, born John Michael Osbourne, fronted the metal band Black Sabbath. He released eight albums with the band, which explored occult themes and earned Ozzy the nickname “The Prince of Darkness.” Their songs like “Iron Man” and “War Pigs” defined the genre. Ozzy was fired from the band in 1979, mainly due to his excessive drug and alcohol addictions. Regardless, Ozzy Osbourne found success as a solo act in the ’80s, releasing a string of commercially successful albums and singles. During this time, he would do wild publicity stunts promoting his status as the Dark Lord of rock, like biting the heads off of live doves, and even a bat. Although he claimed he believed the bat was fake. All this cemented his status as the one rock star parents feared most.

Ozzy would later reunite with Black Sabbath for several new albums and tours. His wife Sharon, who became his manager, developed Ozzfest in the ’90s. This music festival focused on promoting metal bands, with Ozzy himself as the centerpiece. In the early 2000s, Ozzy Osbourne and his family popularized the concept of reality shows focusing on celebrities and their personal lives with MTV’s The Osbournes. Shockingly, this reframed him as an absent-minded dad. His wife, Sharon, and their children, Jack and Kelly, all became overnight celebrities thanks to The Osbournes, introducing Ozzy himself to a whole new demographic.

Since then, Ozzy went on tour on and off again. And he did so while battling a host of health problems, including Parkinson’s Disease and emphysema. Ozzy Osbourne last performed just a few weeks prior to his death, on July 5, a performance that was announced as his final show. He was joined by a parade of A-list hard rock bands, all honoring the iconic Prince of Darkness. Rising from a winged throne in front of a crowd of 42,000, just weeks before his death, Ozzy Osbourne said, “It’s so good to be on this f******* stage, you have no idea. Let the madness begin!” In typical Ozzy fashion, he went out with a bang, and not a whimper.

SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE Delayed Again

The original Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse broke new ground in superhero animation for the big screen It even won an Academy Award. Its 2023 sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, took the multiverse saga of Spider-Man Miles Morales even further, introducing us to multiple new spider-heroes and villains. And in a few years, the trilogy will be complete with the release of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which will bring the epic adventure across multiple realities to a close.

Alas, though we’ve been waiting a long time for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse already, we’ll have to wait just a touch longer. The film finally received a release date of June 4, 2027 a little while ago, but now it will be pushed to June 25, 2027. And we have our fingers crossed that will be its last delay.

Here’s everything we know about Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse so far:

The official title for the third, and possibly final, chapter in Sony Animation’s Spider-Verse trilogy is Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

At the end of the second film, Miles Morales meets the Spider-Society, spider-heroes from across the Multiverse. From them, he learned that his father’s future death was a “Canon Event.” The means it is a point in time that could not be changed. So he went on the run from them in order to save his dad. He found himself trapped in a different universe, where a version of himself works with his criminal uncle Aaron (Mahershala Ali) and uses the alias The Prowler.

As the villainous Spot begins to attack Miles’ home, Earth-1610, Gwen assembles a team of Spider people to rescue him. This leads to a cliffhanger ending. According to the creators, Beyond The Spider-Verse will pick up just moments after Across the Spider-Verse ended. Based on early concept art released for Beyond, we know that Miles will fight his sinister counterpart at some point in the film. In terms of the story for Beyond, that’s all that’s been revealed so far.

Behind the Scenes

The directors of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse are Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, working from a screenplay by the creative team of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, along with writer David Callaham.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Cast

The confirmed cast includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales/Spider-Man from Earth-1610. Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen, the Spider-Woman of Earth-65, is also locked in to return. Other cast includes Jason Schwartzman as Dr. Johnathon Ohnn (the villainous Spot) and Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar as the Spider-Man of India. Kevin Feige Confirms THUNDERBOLTS* Director Jake Schreier Will Direct MCU X-MEN Movie

The much-anticipated X-Men reboot from Marvel Studios has found its director. Fresh off the critical success of Thunderbolts*/New Avengers, a report from Deadline first hinted that director Jake Schreier was Marvel Studios’ first choice to direct its X-Men movie. And while promoting Ironheart in an interview with Metro Entertainment, series producer Ryan Coogler came right out and said, “Jake is directing that” when asked about X-Men. Now, we don’t have to guess anymore because Kevin Feige himself has confirmed that Jake Schreier will indeed direct the MCU’s X-Men movie.

— Metro Entertainment (@Metro_Ents) June 24, 2025

Feige shared:

Yeah, it’s official. Jake Schreier is doing X-Men for us. Very lucky, and we’re very, very lucky to have him, and very excited to have him. And so we’re beginning. It’s all starting now. Script’s underway.

Jake’s an incredibly smart guy, and he’s an incredibly talented filmmaker. We had a great experience with him on Thunderbolts, and if you saw that movie, what he did with those character interactions — he also has his pulse on, shall we say, a younger demographic. Not—he’s younger than me, for sure—but he’s tapped into that in a way that I think is important. It was important for Thunderbolts, much more important for X-Men, because X-Men, as it was in the comics, will be a very youth-oriented, focused and cast movie.

One year ago, Marvel announced that Hunger Games screenwriter Michael Lesslie was writing the script, and that appears to still be the case. Much like the Thunderbolts, the X-Men are outcasts and underdogs, making Schreier a perfect match with the material.

Kevin Feige Confirms THUNDERBOLTS* Director Jake Schreier Will Direct MCU X-MEN Movie_1Marvel Comics/Marvel Studios

We know almost nothing about this new X-Men movie, except that it’s due to arrive after Avengers: Secret Wars. Several of the original X-Men from the Fox films will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which most fans expect to be the swan song for that iteration of the team. Whatever we’re getting next will be a whole new version of Marvel’s mutants. Although, we expect many of the same characters. It’s hard to imagine an X-Men reboot with Charles Xavier, Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey, among other iconic mutants. The only returning cast member from the original X-Men we could see return is Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, if only because he’s so identified with the role. But that’s pure speculation.

Although not confirmed by anyone at Marvel, rumors abound that post-Secret Wars, the studio will focus almost entirely on mutants. A movie called X-Men would likely just be the start. Aside from the students at Xavier’s school, you could have paramilitary mutants like X-Force. Also, hard-boiled detective mutants like X-Factor, and trippy interdimensional mutants like Excalibur. In the pages of Marvel Comics, the mutants are practically a universe unto themselves. Heck, the X-Men adjacent Starjammers could also serve as a replacement for the Guardians of the Galaxy. When it comes to Marvel mutants, the sky’s the limit.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS Is a Stylish Tribute to Jack Kirby (Review)

Disney’s purchase of Twentieth Century Fox a number of years ago meant the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be adding a billion new characters. Most, including myself, have taken that to mean we’re about to enter the age of all things X-Men. But that also meant Kevin Feige and company would get access to the Fantastic Four, Marvel’s first family, and perhaps more importantly, their roster of incredible villains. Ahead of Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom (for entirely monetary reasons), we had to see if for once we’d get a legitimately good Fantastic Four movie. The Fantastic Four: First Steps nailed it.THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS Is a Stylish Tribute to Jack Kirby (Review)_1© 2025 20th Century Studios / © and ™ 2025 MARVEL.

The narrative leading up to The Fantastic Four: First Steps was largely exhausting for those of us in entertainment media. Had Marvel Studios lost it? Could they keep this behemoth of a franchise going amid all the bloat? Would people still turn out, given Thunderbolts* underperformed (by gargantuan Hollywood metrics)? Director Matt Shakman has a tall order with this movie, beginning a new, largely arbitrary at this point, “phase” with a hopefully fresh take on a 60-year-old property. He succeed by doing the most radical thing the MCU has done in years: tell a focused story with loads of humor, heart, and style to spare, and actually make it feel like a comic book.

The trouble with the Fantastic Four, for some, is that they do feel a bit dated and married to the original Stan Lee and Jack Kirby days. Trying to make a gritty or desaturated FF just simply doesn’t work, as we’ve seen. So Shakman and company went t’other way with it, steering into the mid-century futurism and space age wonder. The movie takes place in an entirely Kirby-esque world, even giving us Earth 828 as a setting. (Jack Kirby’s birthday is August 28.) Deeply 1960s-coded.

The cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps looks up from the streets of New York.Marvel Studios

The Fantastic Four: First Steps takes place four (ha) years into the adventures of the Fantastic Four. Following a space mission which bombarded the crew with cosmic rays, each receives their own, totally separate super power. Dr. Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), the smartest man alive, can stretch his limbs like rubber. Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) can turn invisible and create massive force fields. Her brother Johnny (Joseph Quinn) can set himself on fire and fly. And pilot Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) becomes a giant orange rock person with immense strength. We see a montage of their exploits against various enemies, including Mole Man (Paul Walter Hauser).

Just as Reed and Sue learn she’s pregnant, a mysterious emissary, the Silver Surfer Shalla-Bal (Julia Garner), appears in The Fantastic Four: First Steps and heralds the coming of Galactus. Galactus will, in due course, arrive and devour the entire planet. So, good luck and hug your loved ones. This doesn’t sit well with our heroes, who go off into space to learn about their foe. Meeting Galactus himself (Ralph Ineson), the unfathomable being says they can spare their planet if they give up their child. Now, the family has precious little time to come up with a third option.

Galactus looms over New York City in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.Marvel Studios

What works so well, and surprisingly, about The Fantastic Four: First Steps is the style and action hides what is actually a very small story with shockingly few characters. The movie is mainly, almost myopically focused on the Fantastic Four and their intellectual, ethical, and emotional struggle. Aside from the three villains listed above, only Sarah Niles as Lynne Nichols of the Future Foundation, Mark Gatiss as talk show host Ted Gilbert, and Natasha Lyonne as Ben Grimm’s meet-cute Rachel Rozman have major supporting roles. It’s a staggeringly small cast for a Marvel movie.

This allows for actual characterization. Reed’s inability to outthink this existential threat. Sue’s stalwart pledge to save her son and her planet. Johnny and Ben’s near-constant verbal jabs. It’s not just their superpowers and their comfy-looking costumes; it’s—and I can’t believe I’m saying this like it’s revolutionary—it’s characters we actually care about.

This is not to say The Fantastic Four: First Steps is perfect by any means. Ben Grimm’s storyline is severely truncated and Lyonne’s screentime is the bare minimum for any of it to work. Johnny also, weirdly, gets the bulk of the clunky exposition as he’s taken it upon himself to figure out what the Silver Surfer’s deal is. We barely see him do any of it, but he manages to write what amounts to an A&E Biography episode. The film beginning with an already established FF is totally fine. I do, however, wish we’d gotten to see more of the earlier battles, many of which might have fit the tone better. And some of the dialogue is really only saved by having such good actors delivering it.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS Is a Stylish Tribute to Jack Kirby (Review)_2© 2025 20th Century Studios / © and ™ 2025 MARVEL.

As much as I enjoyed Galactus actually being the comic book Galactus, it’s almost too big a threat to feel like he’s really a threat. Aside from Doctor Doom (who we’ll see before we know it), Galactus is the most famous of the Fantastic Four villains, and “The Galactus Trilogy” is one of the Lee/Kirby run’s defining moments. The best action in the movie involves the Silver Surfer, but aside from that, she and Galactus kind of feel wasted in a narrative sense.

All that said, I really did enjoy The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The style works so well, if it did feel very Tomorrowland at times. This is perhaps the MCU’s first absolutely, truly, standalone movie, even if we know it will tie in to literally the very next movie. Unlike Superman over at DC, this movie didn’t need to birth a new cinematic universe. All this had to do was “hey look, here are these characters.” Low aim, high success rate. Easily the best Fantastic Four movie (faint praise), and firmly upper tier MCU.

POKÉMON and Aardman Stop Motion Series Releases First Footage, Reveals Title

Two of our favorite things are coming together to create something wonderful. That’s right, The Pokémon Company is teaming up with Aardman for an exciting joint venture. We honestly can’t wait to watch a Pokémon evolve out of clay. This one is going to be good. We’ve seen all kinds of Pokémon adventures to date, including a cozy stop-motion Pokémon series, Pokémon Monopoly, and more. But we haven’t yet seen Pokémon made of clay. Aardman, of course, has created some of our favorite animations ever, and the studio’s unique style always brings us joy. Now, we have our first look at this collaboration, which now has a title, The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, in the form of a video clip.

We’ll have to wait a little bit longer because Pokémon and Aardman’s collaboration won’t be coming until 2027. But good things come to those who wait! According to a release, “Aardman [will bring] their unique style of storytelling to the Pokémon universe in brand-new adventures.” We love it.

Taito Okiura, VP of Marketing and Media at The Pokémon Company International, shared, “This is a dream partnership for Pokémon. Aardman are masters of their craft, and we have been blown away by their talent and creativity. What we have been working on together ensures our global Pokémon fans are in for a treat!”

Meanwhile, Sean Clarke, Managing Director of Aardman, noted, “It’s a huge honor to be working with The Pokémon Company International — we feel sincerely privileged to be trusted with bringing their characters and world to life in a brand-new way. Bringing together Pokémon, the world’s biggest entertainment brand, together with our love of craft, character and comedic storytelling feels incredibly exciting. Aardman and TPCi share an emphasis on heritage and attention to detail as well as putting our fans and audiences at the heart of what we do, which we know will steer us right as we together create charming, original and new stories for audiences around the world.”

We only get a small taste of the Pokémon and Aardman collaboration for now, just one clay Poké Ball. But we can already tell it’s going to be amazing. We’ll update you on this special project when we can.

KEEPER Trailer: Oz Perkins Turns Voyeurism Into a Bloody Nightmare

Oz Perkins’ profile in the horror and thriller space is continuously on the rise. From his very entertaining flick The Monkey to the critically lauded Longlegs, we are keeping our eyes on his every move. That’s why the trailer for Oz Perkins latest (and very mysterious) new film Keeper has our attention. It doesn’t tell us anything about this film and there’s no real description for it, either. But the creepiness of it all makes us want to slide into theaters this fall.

In the Keeper trailer, we see a couple of different women who seem to be engaging with someone off-screen. One look at a party is beguiling while another is more playful/shy. Soon, there are annoyed glances that spiral right into pure terror. No one says a word, but they don’t have to. Soon, there are bloody faces and screams taking over.

I could be reaching here, but it seems this film will have some commentary on the male gaze and voyeurism, which is quite terrifying for women in general. Keeper does star She-Hulk’s Tatiana Maslany, so it is a pleasure to see her again.

Jason Momoa Says He’s ‘Coming Back’ as Duncan Idaho For DUNE 3 & Confirms His Son Will Join Him

Duncan Idaho died defending his Duke in director Denis Villeneuve’s first Dune movie. It was a noble end for one of Frank Herbert’s most heroic warriors. Only, it wasn’t the end-end for the character. Book readers already know how and why. But while we won’t spoil the specifics of his seemingly impossible return, we can’t do anything about the fact we have no choice but to tell you he definitely will return onscreen, too. For that you’ll have to blame Jason Momoa himself. The actor has spilled all the Spice Melange tea. He confirmed he’s coming back for Dune 3.

Momoa either couldn’t help himself or was strategically revealing information his producers want out in the world when he stopped by TODAY. (A visit we first heard about at Entertainment Weekly.) During his guest spot, host Craig Melvin mentioned Duncan Idaho’s return in Herbert’s second novel, Dune: Messiah. Momoa took that as a chance to reveal something we only assumed would happen but didn’t know for sure. Duncan Idaho will be back in Villeneuve’s adaptation, too.

“Well, I’m not sure if I’m going to get in trouble or not,” Momoa began, before adding that, just like with Game of Thrones, it’s not his “fault” if people haven’t read the books. Once he tried to absolve himself of blame he said, “Yeah, I’m going to be coming back.”

Jason Momoa lies dead with his eyes open in DuneWarner Brothers/Legendary Pictures

But Jason Momoa may not be the only Momoa in the picture for Dune 3. Deadline reports that Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Silo‘s Ida Brooke have been cast in Dune 3 as Leto II and Ghanima, the twin children of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya). The pair is born after the events of the original Frank Herbert Dune novel. It’s a Momoa-filled movie. And Jason Momoa has now officially confirmed this to Extra TV. Momoa shares, “He’s holding his s*** down with Denis Villeneuve.”

But as for Jason Momoa and his big mouth…Will he actually get in trouble for saying any of this? Uh, no? What would that even entail? What are they going to do? Kick him out of the movie? No, the only ones who will get in trouble over this are people like us who have to report his comments. This is a big spoiler, obviously. But like a Swordmaster who must give his life to save his Duke, we too have a heavy burden to bear. Sometimes, a famous actor reveals a surprise, and the rest of us must deal with the fallout.

But don’t worry. You might know Duncan Idaho is coming back, but you still don’t know how and why. And if you do you already know why, this adaptation would be incomplete without him.
