5 Stages: Overcoming Writer Perfectionism #SundayBlogShare #writers

Yes, this is my third re-blog of the day—call it compensation for the Vernal Equinox—call it reprisal against my Ego—call it thanks for still being alive…

Call it what you will; but, enjoy it :-)

Writer Perfectionism

Newbie. You start out writing as a fresh-faced and enthusiastic newbie writer. You merrily send out your work into the world with a smile on your face. In your head it is simply a matter of time before you get spotted by a literary agent or publisher. During this early stage you do...

Analysis of a Book Reviewer

Yes, this is my second re-blog today; except the other one was generated with WordPress’ “Press This” widget…

Enjoy :-)

Lit World Interviews

Did you ever wonder what it was like to write about other people’s writing? That is the job of a book reviewer. I always wanted to be a freelance writer, and for me reviewing books is a perfect example of what a freelance writer does. Book reviewers...

Should writers tackle environmental issues instead of playing make-believe? Guest spot at Howlarium

Another excellent re-blog from Roz Morris…

Nail Your Novel

I’m taking a short blogging break to finish a big project before Easter, but in the meantime I can leave you with some slightly unusual bloggery.

Look at the question in the header. When I received it in my email, I thought I’d quietly pass. howlI don’t really see my fiction as a cudgel for issues. But I followed the link and found Howlarium, a thoughtful discussion blog by short story writer Jason Howell. And by then, I was itching to an...

Why Is Some #Poetry So Hard to Understand?

Emily Dickinson

Emily Elizabeth Dickinson

I have two Most Favorite (“secular”) authors.

One writes fiction, the other wrote poetry.

Some might say the poet wrote fiction

C. J. Cherryhis my Most Favorite fiction author—and, she can be very hard for some folks to understand

Emily Dickinson is my Most Favorite poet—and, she can be very hard for some folks to understand

I find her much harder to understand than Cherryh—yet, I read her, over and over

If you should try to read her poetry, do, if at all possibl...

Emotional Hurdles For The Newbie Writer

As a newbie writer I am constantly trying to jump over emotional hurdles in order to progress.

I am calling them hurdles because if you don’t jump them you will end up falling downand hurting your writer self.

They are emotional because each one has the potential to bring on tears / sobbing / a low mood / a spot of soul searching.

Showcasing your writing to strangers. This was a tough one...
