Picture Books
Yeah, I know… It’s Monday and there’s a re-blog below this message…
See, what happened was… I goofed…
Yesterday, Right Here, I did the Blog Conversation post; but, I’ve rigged all kinds of alarms and notifiers to make sure the next one is on Wednesday…
So… go ahead and enjoy this re-blog :-)
The school year is beginning, and I turn to the most important thing I do in teaching – reading aloud. This is an earlier post that explodes with many picture books I discovered,...

Still More Conversation about Beginning to Write a Book . . .
[image error] Our discussion about beginning to write a book began on August 22nd and continued on August 24th.
In the first post we had two authors comment—one from Germany, one from the United Kingdom.
And, in the last post, we had a comment from an author in Australia:
My first ideas for a book usually centre around an image or images. If I can’t see the image that represents some kind of metaphor I want to use in the premise for the book then I can’t envisage the book. As I collect images, perhaps on...

Of Fonts, and Fate, and Marcel’s Letters
Fascinating and Lovely story in today’s re-blog…
By Heidi Fettig Parton
In 2002, Carolyn Porter, a graphic artist by trade, was shopping in the picturesque downtown of historic Stillwater in Minnesota. Nestled on the banks of the St. Croix River, Stillwater is a place where antique and up-cycled-vintage stores abound. It was at one of these stores where Porter discovered a bundle of vintage letters and postcards. She didn’t know it then, but these letters would alter...

“This…conversation could be wide-ranging…
“…each person is capable of devising some extremely unique ways of beginning—there really are no magic step-by-step methods to book writing…
“…of course the beginning-to-write depends on what’s to be written—poetry, fiction, non-fiction, m...

How Many Sounds Can You Hear All At Once?
Blog Conversation about Beginning to Write a Book . . .
Our last conversation—favorite books and authors—ended on August 20th, due to a lack of comments; but, the discussion we did have was interesting… [image error]
This new conversation could be wide-ranging since all authors are unique, even if they work hard to copy one another; though, the effort to copy the style of a good author could eventually lead to one’s own trustworthy voice…
Also, each person is capable of devising some extremely unique ways of beginning—there really are no magic step-by-step met...

On Losing My Ability to Read and Write
Whoa! Hopefully, none of you will have to go through what today’s re-blog author went through to learn what she learned………
By Rae Pagliarulo
Right around my birthday this past January, as I was on my way to a friend’s house carrying a pizza for dinner, I slipped on a sheet of ice, flew into the air, and landed on my head. My first thought was not about the excruciating pain I was in. Nor was it about the pizza that was lying next to me, upside down and probably oozin...
More Conversation about Your Favorite Books and/or Favorite Authors . . .
[image error] The first post in this conversation was on August 17th; and, for those new to the blog, our conversations are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—the other days of the week having valuable posts from other sources…
And, since that first post in the current discussion had at least one comment, we can continue exploring some of your favorite books and authors…
So… we actually had two comments…
The First:
“It seems, my favorite books have turned out to be those I was assigned to read. Beyond co...
