My offering is a sestina called "Six Words For Edgar," which has won two awards. I hope you enjoy my tribute to Edgar Allen Poe--my children suffered long arduous hours in his cemetery while I took my inspiration. Here's a pic:

Enjoy.

Editor Rhonda Parrish of Niteblade Magazine Interviewed at the Six Question Blog

There is an interview with Rhonda Parrish of Niteblade Magazine over at the Six Questions For..blog. She seems to share my affinity for creepy things that smile. I'm indebted to Ms. Parrish for her generosity--I was one of her picks for Pushcart Prize nominations--so I'm always glad to promote her projects.

Be sure to check out Niteblade Magazine, too. It's a great mag for readers and writers alike. Her issues have gorgeous covers and are well-produced; her selective taste in choosing submissions for each one ensure a great read all the way through. She's also a vehement supporter of Duotrope.com, making her an all-around Great Editor.

Once you're done checking out the magazine, go back to the Six Questions blog. Seriously. It's loaded with short, grabby interviews with the people we want to know more about. I made the mistake of looking at his list of past posts and, after seeing several magazines I've put on my "submit to" list, never got around to doing dishes.

In fact, I am ducking evil glares from my husband because I insisted on blogging about all this writerly goodness. Like the dishes are going anywhere. Sheesh.

Have fun clicking on the links. Maybe you'll get in trouble, too. =) And that's what this game is all about, innit?

Never too soon for Halloween...

Monsters are such interesting people.

So interesting, in fact, that I'll be joining an unholy host of horror writers in bringing you the ABC book your Kindergarten teacher never wanted you to read.

M is for Monster: An Alphabetical Anthology of Abominations is planned to release on October 31, 2010. The letter A will be brought to you by Yours Truly, with the story "Kamikaze Blonde." It's wicked, desperate fun.

Contact me for pre-order info and click here to see the full cover. It's gorgeous. You can also click here to read the list of my cohorts. Pre-orders will earn you an Author Edition of the book, complete with the shiny AE logo. Or, if you are an Amazon.com junkie, you can wait for the Amazon link. It sould appear on October 31, 2010. I'll keep you posted!

Either way, you're in for a good time. (By my standards, anyway.)

My new writer's buddy...

...is this nifty little gadget on Geoff Porter's page.

The writer's buddy converts standard manuscript format to web format and back again. It's a boon to writers like me who submit work to a wide variety of markets.

I HATE deleting tabs and I zone out when I'm stuck tapping down arrows and ENTER keys. With this converter, you paste your work in one window, hit the button, and yippee! It's covereted.

Thank you, Geoff, for sharing this splendiforous link.

Cover Yourself, For Pete's Sake!

Today, while checking out some new markets, I got distracted with all the pretty links.

One such link is tremendously share worthy.

Thank you, Fantastique Unfettered, for leading me to Grá Linnaea's page and this fantastic article on writing cover letters.

Enjoy!
