Saturday Promo - Laura Browning...

Blurb:

He’s hot, he’s sexy, and he’s a seal!

For seven years, Cayden Clifton’s had to stay away from the woman he can’t forget. But now his banishment is over and he’s returning to claim Annabel Barton, if she’ll accept him for what he is… a Silkie.

Annabel has returned to Long Island Sound to close up her father’s home. The place holds nothing but bitter memories of a summer that changed her life forever. She lost the boy she loved and the use of her legs. The last person she wants or expects to see is Cayden. He walked away from her when he found out she was paralyzed, so what could he want with her now?

Book 1 of the Sea Lovers Series

Excerpt:
She fumbled in the dark to find her crutches.

Slowly, carefully, she negotiated the slope down to the dock. It had always been the place she came to whenever her heart was heaviest. She had come here when she was seven and her mother had just died. She had come here again when she was fourteen. Now she was back, seven years later. As she stared down into the water lapping at her toes, her gaze went to her legs. Taylor was right. You couldn’t tell, just looking at her, that her legs were next to useless.

Annabel dragged her hand across her eyes with sudden decision. Without bothering to remove the t-shirt she slept in, she dove off the end of the dock and swam out and away. At least here she felt at home, felt normal.

“A little late for a swim, isn’t it, Annabel?”

The deep voice startled her. Cay! She floundered. Unable to effectively use her legs to tread water, she frantically scissored her arms to regain her equilibrium. Hard fingers closed around her upper arms. He grabbed her, holding her pressed against him while he stood, his feet firmly planted on the bottom of the bay.

“Leave me alone, Cayden!” she protested, arching away from him and pushing at him with her hands. Even as her mind panicked her body reacted to him. No, not again! At that moment she hated her body even more. Even in the darkness, she saw his nostrils flare as the scent of her arousal rose up to him. She didn’t want this; it was too painful. He was in her past and he should stay there, not see her like she was, not see her as a cripple! “Go away!”

Welcome erotic romance author, Samantha Holt!

 Hi Samantha, welcome! It's great to be able to host another UK romance writer on my site. I look forward to learning more about you and your writing. Good luck with the tour!
Let's get going with the questions...
1)   When and why did you decide you wanted to be a published author?
Shortly after finishing my first story. I originally wrote it purely for my own pleasure but I decided that, even if only one other person ever read it, it would be nice to share something that I loved creating.
2)   What is the best and worse thing you have learned from an editor/agent?
I’ve learnt that I’m not very good with taking criticism! But the best advice was remembering to show rather than tell. You don’t need to describe every nuance if you can show it in your characters reactions. Let the reader take the lead. I don’t think I’ve had any bad advice yet.
3)   Favourite author/s?
Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Terry Pratchett and Sue Grafton and numerous unnamed romantic authors. I love so many!
4)   What is your typical day?
I have twin girls who are six, so my day starts with getting them sorted for school. I don’t write until the afternoon so if I’m not spending time with friends, then I’ll do some housework and tackle all my emails. I do the rest of my writing in the evening, when I seem to be at my most productive.
5)   Share your blurb or short excerpt from your latest release with us
As a rebellion sweeps England, Lady Annabel finds her home overrun by rebels. Much to her relief, a dark knight comes to her rescue, claiming to have been sent to protect her by her uncle.
But Nicholas holds a secret about the job he was sent to do and it is a far cry from what Annabel believes it to be. As the attraction between them grows, Nicholas begins to question the dark life he has lived. But is it enough to change him and will Annabel ever trust again after learning the true nature of his sinful duty?
6)   Who would you cast to play your hero & heroine in a movie?
I watched a film called Ironclad recently which was set in Medieval England. It was not a particularly romantic film but James Purefoy played a beautifully brooding knight and he would be perfect as Nicholas. As for Annabel, that’s tough. She’s so unaffected, it’s hard to imagine many actresses that could do her. I enjoyed Scarlett Johansson’s performance in Girl With a Pearl Earring, so perhaps her.
7)   Did you plan this book? Or write it as it came?
I don’t really plan my books properly. I certainly have a strong idea of where they are to go but I don’t write anything down and The Angel’s Assassin was the same. I wanted to write an anti-hero but a lot of it just developed as I went along. About halfway through I had the end written. I don’t write in order very often so I frequently have the end before I have the beginning!
8)   What surprised you the most when you became a published?
I was surprised by how willing people were to take a chance on an unknown author. My first novel reached bestseller status very quickly, at a time when it hardly had any reviews, and I was just blown away. The support I receive from readers still amazes me.
9)   Do you have a dedicated writing space? What does it look like?
I don’t. I ought to but I don’t. I generally write from my couch which is a gorgeously soft thing and probably terrible for my back. I also like to write in the bath. One day I’m sure that will end in disaster!
10)                   What’s next for you?
I’m working on my next medieval romance at the moment. It’s still in the early stages but it deals with communication issues and features two very sexy brothers. My ‘One Knight’ series is also being released as a collection this month.

Blurb:A medieval story of love and betrayal.
Excerpt:
“What is your name?”
He stared at her as he paused mid-bite. Withdrawing the bread, he shifted uncomfortably.
“My name is of no import, my lady.”
“I would know the name of my rescuer.”
He looked to the floor. “I am no rescuer, just a lowly knight doing his duty.”
“Your modesty becomes you, Sir Knight, but I would still know your name.”
Annabel awaited his response, the air between them growing uncomfortably thick.
He heaved a sigh, wondering how it was that a diminutive woman had got the better of him.
“Nicholas,” he grated out reluctantly.
“Nicholas,” she repeated softly. “And I am Annabel.”
“I know, my lady.”
“Nay, Annabel. Not ‘my lady’. You have surely earned the right to address me as such.”
He shook his head, dropping his gaze to the ground once more. He could not bring himself to utter her name, not when he knew what was to come. “Nay, my lady, I am your servant and I will address you as a servant should.”
Annabel must have sensed she was fighting a losing battle as she protested no more and fell silent. Nicholas risked sideways glances at her as her as she nibbled delicately on the hardened bread, and he realised he took far too much pleasure in the sight of her ample lips moving with each bite.
Brushing the crumbs from her skirts, Nicholas watched, mesmerised, as she twisted her long braid over her shoulder. Tugging on the red ribbon that tied the end of the braid, it loosened, sending the length of her hair shimmering across her shoulders. It brushed the dirt and Nicholas felt his mouth dry as she touched a finger to his arm. Surrounded by a halo of hair, she glanced up at him, her mouth curling. Without a word, she tied the ribbon about his large arm and fussed with it until she was satisfied.
Nicholas touched tentatively at the ribbon and gave her a perplexed look.
“You saved my life, Nicholas. ‘Tis a favour from a lady to a knight.” She grinned at his confusion. “You have received favours before, surely? I would expect a knight of your valour to have championed many a lady.”
He wondered if she was teasing him but her expression was completely guileless. He groaned inwardly. This woman probably believed wholeheartedly in courtly love. From his little experience he had come to conclude that it did not exist.
“For fear of disappointing you, my lady, I am sorry to admit that there you are mistaken. I have championed no ladies.”
“Well, ‘tis no matter,” she told him with a tender smile, “For you have championed me.”
Unable to bare her dazzling eyes any longer, he stood abruptly. Champion? He laughed inwardly. She had no idea of the kind of man he was, and he was thoroughly aware that he was far removed from the heroic knights that minstrels and poets spoke of.
He felt a pang of something, an uncomfortable sensation settling in his gut. Nicholas couldn’t name it but he didn’t like its implications. For all her naivety and gentle manners, this woman was going to be trouble. He felt threatened by her somehow, as if she had directly challenged him rather than quietly accepting his every word without question.
“Are you ready to continue on, my lady?”
Annabel sighed and stood, in spite of her obvious weariness. “I am in your hands, Nicholas. I will do whatever you command.”
Nicholas tried to tamp down on the desire stirring in his loins at her words and failed. Instead, he grunted and turned away, stomping off without checking if she was following. The sooner this job was over, the better.Book Trailer:http://youtu.be/lhzZ3pu3eMQ

Welcome Musa Publishing author, Vanessa North!

 Welcome, Vanessa! This is the first time we've met so I am glad to be a part of your ongoing tour. I love discovering new authors to read and share with - looking forward to hearing more about you and your work. Over to you!
Rachel, Thanks so much for having me here on your blog for an interview today!
1.              Did you set any goals for 2012?
Yes, actually, I went into 2012 an unpublished, completely green writer who had just received her very first rejection letter. My friend Jason urged me to take more chances and keep putting myself out there, so I made this champagne-fueled new years resolution. I decided that I’d call 2012 the year of taking chances. I kept submitting my work and busting my tail and by the end of 2012 I’ll have five stand alone books published along with a short story in an anthology for charity. It’s been a very good year, goal-wise.
 2.              What is the best part of the writing process for you?
I really love plotting, and that sort of planning out who my characters are going to be. They are really the soul of the story, so I get to know them first.
3.              The worst part?
I have a very difficult time with the “black moment” type scenes. They are very hard to write, it’s difficult to go to those places in my head.
4.              What is the book you wish you’d written?
I don’t so much wish I had written it, but I wish I had the sort of creative mind that could come up with something like “The Time Traveler’s Wife.” Love or hate it, (and it seems most people do one or the other) it’s such a breathtakingly unique premise.
5.              Favourite author/s & book/s?
Well, we’ve covered the “Time Traveler’s Wife” by Audrey Niffenegger. Recently I read a romance called “Ethan Who Loved Carter” by Ryan Loveless which was really amazing. I have so many favorites it’s hard to pick, but my auto-buys are Lauren Dane and KA Mitchell.
6.              Tell us about your latest release?
“Amazon” is the first book in my trilogy called The Ushers. It’s a story about an albino werewolf who has been told her whole life that she was born to fulfill this prophecy. She didn’t choose it, anymore than she chose to be albino, but once she does, she’ll repair this huge rift in werewolf culture.
7.              What is your favourite attribute of the hero and heroine?
What I love about Bianca is how fiercely protective she is of the people she loves. With Jack, it’s his flexibility--under his gruff alpha-wolf exterior, he’s very open-minded and forward thinking.
8.              What’s next?
Next up I have a novella for Musa Publishing’s shared world series, the Wiccan Haus. My novella is called “Shifter’s Dance” and it’s about a ballet dancer, Romy, who lost her eyesight and her career as the result of a mean prank. She goes to the Wiccan Haus when she leaves the hospital to sort of regroup and figure out what’s next. While there, she meets bear-shifter and sometimes-spy, Stephen, who never imagined he’d fall in love with a delicate little human. Hijinks and sexy times ensue.
9.           Tell me where you write?
I have a home office, complete with an antique desk and a very uncomfortable matching chair. Considering this is where I spend most of my day, you would think I’d invest in something more comfortable, but no. I guess discomfort is good for my writing.
10.           Where would you like your career to be in 5 years?
As long as I am still writing and people are reading, I’ll be happy. Truly.
11.           Where can we find you?
My website is http://www.vanessanorth.com and of course I’m on facebook: http://facebook.com/authorvanessanorth and I tweet a whole lot: https://twitter.com/VanessaNWrites
I absolutely love chatting with readers on twitter (and not just about my books, other books too! I love discovering something new to read!)
Title: Amazon (The Ushers, Book One)Author: Vanessa NorthPublisher: Musa PublishingLength: 54,000 wordsGenre(s): Erotic Paranormal Romance (Action, F/F/M)Heat Level: Sizzling
Available at:Coming Oct 12 from Musa Publishing
Blurb:Jack's routine investigation of rogue wolf sightings threatens to uncover both Bianca's secrets and her passionate nature. Can she trust him enough to make the sacrifice her destiny demands?
Born albino, Bianca was spared death in infancy when her mother found safe haven among the ghosts and misfits of Amazon Pack. As Guardian of Amazon, she protects the hidden pack with a ferocity that belies her delicate appearance.
Jack’s routine investigation of rogue wolf sightings in his territory uncovers both Bianca’s secrets and her passionate nature. He finds her alluring and terrifying: he’s convinced she’s his mate, but is she also the Usher--key to their culture’s most sacred prophecies?
The Usher’s destiny requires a sacrifice to repair a rift in wolf culture and set the Goddess free. Can Jack and Bianca trust each other enough to pay that price?
Excerpt:Bianca pulled her v-neck t-shirt over her head, shucking off her shoes and jeans. Jack immediately started shedding his clothes as well. Growing up among wolves, he’d never really given much thought to nudity. Their bodies grew in size as they shifted, so he was accustomed to stripping down before a run in order to preserve his wardrobe. He glanced over at the Albina as she shook her hair out. Standing in the moonlight, she was stunning. He saw her delicate pink nipples were still hard and aroused from his kiss. The curls of hair on her mound were as fair as her hair, and he saw the delicate pink folds glistening, swollen with arousal, peeking through the white curls. Her beauty was astounding. He saw marks on her skin, leaned closer to examine them. Tattoos, he realized suddenly. All wolves were tattooed after their first shift. Most of them were tattooed in black ink with colors for emphasis, but several of hers were done in white. As befits Albina, he thought as he admired the elegant symbols. Her entire back was covered, here and there a shadow in grey? or a bit of color drawing attention to some of the more consequential tattoos. Clearly she was a powerful Guardian for her pack--she’d not have been tattooed so many times without having achieved her place of power by virtue of her skills. As she turned to fold her discarded clothes, he could see some scars on her body, remnants of fights won. The tattoos glimmered in the dark, beckoning him to trace them with his fingers, his tongue. He groaned, and she looked over her shoulder at him with a smile.
“Kathy has changed already, are you ready?” she asked, turning to stare at his body in the moonlight. Hard and muscled everywhere, his upper body hairy and tattooed all over. She looked at his signs and symbols of strength and honor, a visual representation of his place in his pack. They confirmed that he was a fit mate for her--his beautiful body bore scars of fights clearly dominated, and the tattoos that marked him as a leader curled around them. She smiled, her gaze lingering at the proof of his arousal, standing proudly from the bed of black curls at the top of his legs. She blushed slightly as she realized he had followed her gaze. He grinned back at her with a wink as he sank to his knees.
She had seen many wolves shift before. However, she found herself curiously watching him, to see if her mate--there was no longer a doubt in her mind that he was indeed her mate—would seem different from those others. It was sensual, witnessing his change--his body shook and he turned his head with a loud cracking noise. He owned his change like only a powerful wolf could--it was masterful, graceful almost, as his black fur grew over his body. Then he sat, watching her, a huge black wolf with golden-brown eyes. He was resplendent. She knelt next to him, still in her human form, and caressed between his ears. His fur was soft and his eyes kind. He closed them and rolled his head into her hand like a dog seeking a touch from his mistress. His essential masculine scent still surrounded him in his animal form, and as she stroked his head, he snorted and his tongue lolled out between sharp lethal teeth to lap at her hand. She loved the feel of his fur between her fingers, and he clearly enjoyed her attentions. But then he shook his head, took a couple of steps towards the woods and whined back at her. If they were mated, they’d be able to read each other’s thoughts, as pack-mates could, and even more than that, they’d be able to share their feelings through their mate bond. But even without that bond, she could sense his eagerness to run. She grinned and let loose her wolf, feeling the change work over her, bringing forward the animal, tucking the woman away inside.
About the Author:Vanessa North was born in New England but moved to the South as a teenager, where she learned to appreciate biscuits and gravy, bluegrass, and that most welcome of greetings: “Hey y’all!” She has a degree in Mass Communication but has long since abandoned journalism in favor of writing romance. Instead of telling the news, V would rather tell stories.
Vanessa has a voracious appetite for books and loves all kinds. She writes obsessively: every day brings new ideas and stories to tell. When she’s not buried in a book—hers or someone else’s—you can find her taking thousands of photographs of the people she loves.
She lives in Northwest Georgia with her handsome husband, not-quite-civilized twin boy-children, and a pack of dogs.

I'm thinking of a series next....

Good morning!

How are we all??

I am busy polishing novella number four to send to my editor and so, of course, once one project is coming to an end, an author starts thinking of their next...or at least, they should be! I read a great 'how to' blog post about creating a series of novellas a couple of days ago. It really inspired me and immediately the old brain starting turning, wondering if I could possibly write a series.

A series...set in the same town. Yes! That's what I want to do next.

The thing is as much as I know series are popular in mainstream romance, I'm now so sure with erotic romance. I can't remember seeing or discovering many series of erotic romance over the years. Or am I wrong? As I started to debate, i immediately thought of you--my lovely readers and visitors....

How do you guys feel about series? Are they a good idea? Do you buy them religiously? Can you recommend a good series or two for me to read as inspiration?

Love to hear from you!

Welcome Secret Cravings author, Kellie Kamryn!

 Hi Kellie! So happy to welcome you back to my blog. Really looking forward to hearing how things are going with you and your writing since we last spoke. Let's get started...
1)  Who is your favourite author and why?
This is like asking me who my favorite child is!!! Oh, I hate leaving anyone out but Eloisa James is always a “go to” author as is Julie James. I adore Jan Romes, Jennifer Labelle, John Sheridan, Daisy Dunn, Cherie Marks, Jennifer Jakes, Diana Duncan and Liz Crowe to name a few!
2)  When did you first consider yourself a writer?
After I self-published a collection of poetry. I wanted to write novels too, so I just did, learning from industry professionals along the way.
3)  Describe your writing space?
An old desk, my PC right across from the room from my kids computer. I have to keep an eye on them ;)4)  What are you reading now?
I read a few books at a time. I just started Jan Romes’ STAY CLOSE NOVAC, and am reading The SoulMate Experience as inspiration as well as a spiritual text by John Shelby Spong.
5)  How many books have your written?  Which is your favourite?
Again – asking which one is my favorite is like asking me to pick my fave kid! LOL, I currently have 9 books out, both novel and short story length, everything from sweet to HOT & STEAMY!
6)  What comes first, plot or characters?
I always get an “what if?” idea and then characters and plot blossom from there.
7)  Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?
No. If I’m stuck on a scene, I take it as a sign I’m meant to work on something else so that my creativity can be sparked to write in another way.
8)  What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
READ! and spend time with my kiddos!

9)  Tell us about your latest book?
TUMBLING HEARTS is the third in my Love and Balance series.

Welcome Breathless Press author, Victoria Vane!

 Hi Victoria! Welcome to my site.
It's exciting to be hosting an author of what looks to be a wonderful historical romance series - I ADORE your covers! Who is the artist? He or she deserves a shout out. i love them! Okay, let's get started because with more than four books to promote, you're going to need time center stage...
Let the questions begin!
1)    What is your writing routine?I have crazy habits! My creative brain doesn't seem to work well during the day so I typically do busy work during the earlier part of the day and don't usually try to write until after dinner time. I usually settle down between 6 and 7 Pm with the goal of writing 2,000 words. Sometimes the stars are aligned and I write much more than that but I generally am not content unless I've produced at least 1,200-1,500 words.
2)    Which author/s inspire you to write?My biggest writing inspiration came from Georgette Heyer, a brilliant woman who is best known for her Regency romances although she also write mysteries and historical fiction. Her wit and characters are unsurpassed and I have tried my best to channel her in my DeVere series! LOL!
3)    Which is your favorite romance subgenre to read? To write?I am a true blue history geek so I read and write almost exclusively in the historical subgenres to include everything from historical fiction to time travel romances.
4)    How do you deal with criticism/rejection?That is really tough because rejection in any form is always painful  but tastes differ and it's impossible to please everyone.  It's important to remember that just because someone doesn't like what you wrote, it doesn't mean you aren’t a good writer. I do, however, appreciate constructive criticism and think that I am a better writer for listening to some of my critics.
For example, although I loved it, a good number of people didn't like the climactic ending of my first novel as they felt it was too abrupt. I paid attention to that in my next story and made sure to provide the kind of closure to the story that readers typically desire.
5)    What do you expect from an editor?Oh Boy! I'm in trouble now! Seriously, my dream editor is prompt, communicative, and clear in his/her expectations.  It's hard to deliver when you don't really know what they want- and a huge waste of time too! I have been fortunate in working with two wonderful editors who matched my dream description. These were Arial Burnz who worked with me on A BREACH OF PROMISE and Tara Chevrestt who edited my entire DeVere series. I couldn't ask for a better experience than I had with both of them. (And for those seeking, both of these wonderful ladies do free lance work!)

6)    Tell me about your latest release:
My latest release is THE DEVIL'S MATCH, the fourth and supposedly final installment of my Devil DeVere series. It is part two of Diana and DeVere's highly complex story that is told in pieces throughout the preceding three novellas. At the beginning of A WILD NIGHT'S BRIDE, Diana is only mentioned in passing:

"Diana?" A strange look passed fleetingly over DeVere's face."Yes. Annalee's cousin, Lady Diana Palmerston-Wriothesley. I can't believe you could have forgotten her.""Palmerston-Wriothesley? Yes, I do remember now. She's the relict of the feckless baron who gamed away his entire fortune?""Might I remind you of your slight culpability in the matter?""Surely you don't hold me to blame for his demise?" DeVere flipped open his snuffbox and offered it to Ned. "The man heedlessly wagered more than he could afford, and he lost.""You did little enough to intervene." Ned waved away the offer and retrieved a clay pipe from his pocket instead. DeVere rocked back in his chair. "You should know any attempt to shame me is wasted breath. I carry no guilt. He was fully culpable for his own actions. He didn't know when to quit. Just as a dog returns to his vomit, so does a fool repeat his folly.""What is that supposed to mean?" Ned looked up from packing his pipe."That he didn't accept his losses with grace and walk away."Ned pointed an accusatory finger. "But you did exploit his weakness."DeVere shrugged. "It's not as if I held a pistol to his head.""No, you did not pull the trigger. He did that himself." Ned pierced DeVere with a reproving look as he went to work with flint and steel with expert hands."How was I to know the blighter would blow his head off?""He was ruined beyond redemption," Ned replied. A single spark ignited the char cloth to a glow sufficient to light his tobacco. "I suppose he felt it was his only honorable recourse.""The man had no honor, Ned. In truth, he was a bloody cheat." DeVere's mouth was a grim line. "There is much more to the story than you know."***

Indeed there is MUCH more to this story! In the book's epilogue we get a glimpse of Diana:
***She played with her gloves, refusing to meet his gaze. "I have long denied myself a trip to London. My gowns are all sadly outmoded, and I shall certainly relish the change in scenery after being buried in the country for so long.""Very well," he said. "You will find the house comfortably furnished and fully staffed. I will of course provide a generous allowance for anything either of you should need. If anything unanticipated should transpire, you need only look to DeVere—""DeVere? Viscount DeVere?" Diana couldn't help the twitch of distaste his name brought to her lips. It had been five years since she'd last seen him, and never would be too soon for her to encounter him again. "I assure you we shall need nothing from him. Indeed, I fear even the remotest association with that wastrel might bar Vesta from the better drawing rooms." It was a plausible excuse and the one she would stand by.Edward frowned. "Don't you think that a bit harsh, Di? He is Vesta's godfather, after all."She laughed. "I only wonder what my dear cousin Annalee was thinking to have ever allowed such a thing!"His frown deepened to a full-blown scowl."Oh, don't look so thunderous, Edward! I know he is your friend, but you know as well as I, that his reputation is the lowest, and he revels in it. Vesta may be his godchild, but the less made of it the better.""You shouldn't believe everything you hear about him.""Lackaday! I only need believe half of it to be reviled. Besides, I do not base my opinions purely on hearsay. I have had sufficient dealings of my own with the man to have his full measure." She almost bit her tongue on her poor choice of words. His full measure, indeed. The remembrance of it still shook her five years later."Surely you don't still hold him to blame for—"For Reginald? Not completely." Diana strolled to the window and gazed out at the vast expanse of park. She sighed long and deep. She chose her next words carefully in the knowledge that the truth of her past connection with the viscount would never be revealed. DeVere had, at least, promised her that much. "We both know Reginald had long made a habit of going for wool and coming home shorn. DeVere was merely the devil's agent who accomplished the inevitable. Still, one cannot touch...excrement," she looked to Ned with a meaningful curve of her lips, "and not be defiled. I'd much rather avoid any contact with DeVere."***Diana and DeVere's story is fascinating and complex and is told in two parts beginning with THE DEVIL YOU KNOW and concluding with their long anticipated reunion in THE DEVIL'S MATCH.
7)    Which is your favorite character in the book?  Why?I adore them all as each is uniquely different, but DeVere is the shining star in my imaginary cosmos. He is a one in a million character.
8)    What are you working on right now? I just finished a full length historical romance for Entlangled Publishing's brand new Scandalous historical imprint. It is very much my homage to the novels of the 18th century in which virtue and vice was a predominant theme. I had then planned to write my first paranormal/time travel romance, but I have received so many requests for more "DeVere" that I now have several spin-off books in the works!

9) Your biggest piece of advice to aspiring novelists?You must never say die! If you believe in yourself do not quit! I had two agents who told me that A BREACH OF PROMISE, A WILD NIGHT'S BRIDE and DANGEROUS DESIGNS would not sell because they did not fit the traditional mold. I believed in each of these stories wholeheartedly and sought publication on my own. They all sold- quickly but not to mainstream publishers. I'm ok with that as I'm probably too much of a maverick for the mainstream anyway! LOL!
11) Where can readers find you? Anywhere and everywhere! I am on Facebook as both Author Emery Lee and Author Victoria Vane as I write under both names. (Book #4) THE DEVIL'S MATCH: Once burned twice shy… but when old flames come together…passion reignites...
EXCERPT:BOOK ONE:
DeVere, on the other hand, evinced no such qualms. He had already loosened his cravat and was stripping off his coat.
"As I said earlier, there is no need," Phoebe insisted. "A couple of buttons and a raised petticoat are all the business requires."
"How delightfully unromantic you are, my dear!" He chuckled. "But while most men would be charmed to comply with your simple wishes, I have quite another game in mind. One that most definitely requires you to disrobe."
"But what if I don't want to?"
"Oh but you will," he said with a smug smile.
She glared. "You are very sure of yourself!"
He studied his buffed fingernails. "I am sure of Ned. Thus, we must put on a convincing show."
Her brows came together in a deep scowl. "What do you mean? What has Ned to do with this?"
"Everything. And at any moment, I expect him to burst through that door like a raging bull."
BOOK TWO:
"But it is so large and swollen, is it painful?
"No, just uncomfortable. Now, may we stop discussing my …" the appropriate word for feminine ears failed him.
"Phallus?" she offered. "That is what the grooms call it."
"Why are you eavesdropping on grooms?"
"I used to watch the stallions leaping the mares."
"You what!" Hew almost choked.
"Well, how else is a girl with no mother supposed to get any education? Although I doubt Mama would have told me very much. So there's really no reason to be timid, Hew. I already know all about the mating process. And to the best of my knowledge, the stallions never 'ignored it until it went away.' Please feel free to relieve yourself of it. I would even help you if you would like. I'm not the least afraid for I have seen much larger ones."
BOOK THREE:
She wanted him too. He could see it in the rapid rise of her breasts. He could smell her budding arousal and would relish bringing her to full bloom. God, how he loved this dance! She had taken the first tentative steps, yet she still fought her desire, refused to give in to it, but he would lead her now. He was a master…and a ruthless bastard.
He moved behind her, his fingers riffled gently through her hair. He closed his eyes to inhale her faint rose scent mixed with womanly musk. He dipped his head, letting his breath tickle her ear. She shivered. He whispered low and sultry. "Do you wish me to name the ways I can please you? I am delighted to comply if that excites you...although it would please me far more to demonstrate."
BOOK FOUR:
DeVere rose and came to her, perching himself on the arm of the settle. "My honorable and straitlaced brother could never satisfy a woman like you, Diana. He could never plumb the depths of your passion...unlock your secret desires."
His voice was low and seductive, and the flickering blue fire in his eyes heated her insides. Diana fiercely tamped down the smoldering sensation that threatened to reignite feelings she'd struggled to suppress. "And what would you know of my wants and desires after four years?"
"A great deal." He gave her a slow, confident smile. "Given that I was the one to unleash them."
Diana averted her face with a bitter laugh. "Thus you presume to have an exclusive claim to me?"
"Has any other exerted one?" he asked softly. He reached out a hand and traced a long, manicured finger along her jaw. "You are still unwed, Diana. Have you taken another lover in my absence?"
"It is none of your business whether I have or not, and you are grossly impertinent to ask."
He laughed long and low. "I think I have my answer."
She glared at him, and thus they remained, silently challenging one another for an interminable beat. Then suddenly his mouth was on hers, taking, possessing, as if it was indeed, his singular privilege.
Diana leaned into him, teasing his lower lip with her tongue and sucking it eagerly into her mouth before sinking her teeth into it. Hard. Savoring the coppery taste of his blood.
"What the hell!" DeVere jerked back with a cry. He touched his lip and examined the crimson stain on his fingertip, his expression a mix of outrage and bemusement.
"You took without invitation," Diana said. "It was a warning not to do so again."

Saturday Promo - Genevieve Ash...

Blurb:

Amanda Wellington is a twenty-eight year old home renovator who is still waiting for Mr. Right. Every day, she's haunted by a ghostly image that resides in her antique mirror, and each night, her dream lover strokes her aching flesh, keeping her just on the edge of release. But men like him don't exist. Or so she thinks until she wakes to find her desires have pulled him from the mirror to her bed.Is Amanda willing to pay the ultimate price--her body and soul--to free the sexy stranger from decades of loneliness?

Cameron Mackenzie--part Norse demigod and part immortal Celtic warrior--must spend eternity in the mirror unless he can find a virgin--not just any virgin--but a direct descendant of the goddess who cursed him. Women have always been a means to an end...until Amanda. This delicate mortal has the heart and the passion to set him free, but only if she can face her own demons and, quite literally, walk through the fires of hell to save him.

Excerpt
“My name is Cameron MacKenzie and I am here to fulfill your wildest dreams.” Without looking absurd, he managed a courtly bow.

“Oh, I get it. My sister must have sent you. Are you going to turn on a boom box and start gyrating all around me?” She stared without attempting to conceal her interest at the snug-fitting jeans slung low on his hips. They certainly didn’t look like tear away pants, too bad.

“I do not understand. I assure you that I am only here to bring you pleasure,” Cameron said, his brows knitting in a puzzled frown.

Amanda snorted slightly and retorted quickly, “Okay, this is my dream, so cut the BS. I have never known a man who could fit that description. You must take me for some kind of fool.”

“Amanda,” his voice caressed her with its warmth, “look deeply into my eyes and see what it is I am offering you.”

Amanda looked into the mirror and gasped in disbelief as the erotic images from last night’s dream flooded her mind. Her body responded with the same heat and desire. She could feel the peaks of her nipples hardening and the dampness between her legs. He played out fantasies that Amanda had never admitted even to herself. As she watched his strong, hard body taking her every way and everywhere, she trembled uncontrollably.

“Amanda, are you truly ready for me?” Cameron’s hazel eyes held the gentlest hint of a smile.

“Well, Mr. MacKenzie, as much as I would like to continue this dream with myself actually participating in some of those fantasies, there is one problem. You are inside the mirror and I’m outside of it. Presents a challenge, doesn’t it?” Amanda struggled to keep the smug look on her face, feeling a little safer now.

It was a great dream though. Trying to direct her dream like a play wasn’t working well at all.

“Amanda, tell me that you truly want me. Show me you are ready. Imagine us together touching, kissing, licking,” Cameron leaned toward her, beseeching her with his golden eyes, “I have waited so long to be with you. I know that you want me. You cannot possibly resist me. I am the one.”

Welcome multi-published author, Janet Mullany...

                           Welcome, welcome, welcome, Janet!! I am thrilled to have such a talented author visit my site - I truly can't wait to read your latest release. I have read all your Little Black Dress books and loved them - wishing you lots of sales with your latest from HQN, "Hidden Paradise".
        Okay, on with the questions!
            1) When and why did you decide you wanted to be a published author?
I wanted to write and be published from the get-go. I had this grand idea I’d put my daughter through college with my massive royalty checks, which didn’t happen. See below.
2)   What is the best and worse thing you have learned from an editor/agent?
By the time I was being considered seriously by agents—in other words, after I’d published—I realized I was a niche author and the gigantic earth-shattering royalty checks just weren’t happening. But when I told this to the agent who now represents me, she said that being a niche author didn’t mean you had to be in a small niche. Very cool and perceptive and we’ve been working to hack out a bigger niche for me/
3)   Favourite author/s?
Jane Austen first of all whose books I love and who’s taught me a lot about writing. Oh, but wait—I’m supposed to be talking about erotic romance. OK, sighs and pulls on feather boa and six inch high heels. Portia da Costa and Molly Weatherfield, both terrific writers with great style and voice, which is the sort of writing I enjoy.

4) What is your typical day?
Get up as late as possible, take metro into work to the Bach factory (yes I have a day job and it’s for a baroque music ensemble). I read on the metro, and if I gave up the day job I’d really miss the reading time. Same coming home, where I fiddle about on the computer and try to churn out at least 1,000 words, plus doing promo and all that good stuff.
5)   Who would you cast to play your hero & heroine in a movie?
I have a confession to make. I have a vague sort of idea what Mac, Lou and the rest look like, and although I’m a very visual person, I’m not that interested. In this book I was far more interested in what they were wearing, since they’re in Regency clothes. Tight pants, neckcloths, lovely floaty gowns, all great stuff.
6) Did you plan this book? Or write it as it came?
I sold it on proposal, the second of two books for HQN and I had a typically vague 3-page synopsis. It mostly settled into place with my usual big dose of luck. I’m not a good plotter and I have to be well into a book before I can work out what’s really going on. Usually I start off with a vague idea, which for this book was wouldn’t it be fun to write a book where people are recreating a Regency lifestyle and having lots of sex. Or something like that. It’s quite a terrifying process.
7)   What surprised you the most when you became a published author?
      What a nice community romance authors are.
       8)   Do you have a dedicated writing space? What does it look like?
I have an office that the cat seems to think belongs to her. It’s a real mess at the moment with a lot of things stored in here that shouldn’t be. I’m a terrible slob but I really prefer the office to be clean and uncluttered. It has a lot of light, facing south and east, and a huge oak tree outside. I think it’s the nicest room in my house.
9)    What’s next for you?
I’m returning to my first love, historical romance, and I have one finished ms. about a love affair between a lady and her servant, and I’m working on another one inspired by Scheherezade (The Arabian Nights), something that’s a great influence on me. And also a couple of ideas for novellas, so I’m fairly busy! Thanks so much for having me visit and I hope we crank up the water buffalo fund.

Hidden Paradiseby Janet Mullany
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
CALL IT SENSE AND Sensuality... Louisa Connelly, a recently widowed Jane Austen scholar, needs some relief from her stifling world. When a friend calls to offer her a temporary escape from her Montana ranch, she is whisked into a dizzying world of sumptuous food, flowing wine...and endless temptation.  She's an honored guest at Paradise Hall, an English resort boasting the full experience of an authentic Georgian country-house weekend. Liveried servants tend to the every need of houseguests clad in meticulous period costume: snug breeches, low-cut silken gowns and negligible undergarments. It's Mac Salazar, a journalist immersing himself fully, deeply, lustily in the naughty pleasures of upstairs-downstairs dalliances, who piques Louisa's curiosity-and libido-most. He's a dilettante straight out of a novel: uninhibited, unapologetic and nearly insatiable. But Lou's not romantic about this much, at least: Paradise Hall is a gorgeous fantasy, nothing more. A lover like Mac is pure fiction. And the real world beckons....
EXCERPT
[Rob the footman after dinner in the drawing room]
The pianist played a final chord and during the applause Rob opened the door and ushered in Dejan and Ivan and their trays. Neither Peter nor Chris was present, which was unusual, and the guests looked a little drunk, which was not unusual at all. At least Lou was pretty much sober tonight. She was sitting next to one of the guys who messed around with the plaster and paint, talking to him with great animation. Mac, meanwhile, across the room, gazed at her, and Rob wondered why he didn’t just go and talk to her. Like poor old Peter had done, clumsily touching him and gazing at him like some sort of pathetic spaniel. It wasn’t the first time a gay guy had propositioned him—it happened, no big deal—but it was a big deal when it was your boss and he looked so sad and scared. Hell, he was even older than Rob’s dad, and he felt more pity for Peter than he could for his own father.
“Tea, ma’am?” he said to Lou.
She took a cup from the tray without even noticing him. “Sixteen layers!” she said to the decorating guy. Jon Nesbitt, that was his name.
“You’ll have to come and look at my samples,” Jon said in his plummy posh voice. Would Rob talk like that, too, after Cambridge?
“Oh, I’d love to.”
Christ, she was practically having an orgasm about looking at paint layers or whatever she was planning to do. He moved the tray away before Jon could take a cup and went to the next guest, the one Downstairs voted most likely to put out. Unfortunately, she also tied for the honor of most annoying and demanding.
“Hi, Rob.” Sarah took a cup of coffee. “Is this organic?”
“Absolutely. And fair trade. Tastes nice, too,” he said vaguely, staring straight into her cleavage. He couldn’t help it. It was just there, all ripe and pillowy and gorgeous with its mysterious deep shadow, and she was sitting and he was standing, and if he wasn’t careful he’d tip half a dozen cups of tea and coffee into its depths.
Ellora's Cave author, Tina Donahue...
Claiming Magiqueby Tina Donahue
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
A man at the center of power. A woman who won’t be ruled. They call her Magique.
Sought out by the District’s elite, she’s no ordinary call girl, deciding who will pleasure her for the evening. Her preference is for several men at once. Games of bondage and submission heighten her arousal and desire to have a strong male take her.
Hunter is only looking for a good time, not a woman who unleashes a hunger so deep it changes his world. He won’t stop until Magique is his alone, a prisoner of his lust, powerless against his growing need for her body and heart.
With this man, resistance isn’t allowed. For this woman, he’ll create a world of sensual delight and yearning like none she’s ever known.
Reader Advisory: Magique’s sensual journey includes some brief ménage and BDSM elements.

Chapter One Excerpt
On the other end of the room was a wet bar. And Magique.
Hunt stepped closer, unable to help himself.
Her back was to them. She made no move to turn around despite David’s nervous throat clearing.
Her hair was glossy and black with blue highlights, worn so long the ends dangled over her ass. From his vantage point, Hunt could see her right leg. She wore strappy gold heels, three inches high. He estimated her to be about five-seven or eight without them. Her dress, a simple sheath, was of an amazing gold material, slightly shiny and so snug she might as well have sprayed the damn thing on.
It wasn’t gauzy lingerie, but it did reveal her every curve.
Adrenaline pumped through Hunt, making it difficult for him to stand still. His mouth went dry.
Her figure leaned more toward a Victoria’s Secret model than the waiflike look of high couture. The dress’s left strap had fallen down, making her seem more accessible, oddly vulnerable. Light glanced off her bare shoulder and arm as she moved, lifting a glass, tipping a bottle. Her skin was an ivory shade, looking delicate and seductive as hell.
He pulled at his tie’s knot, needing to loosen it so he could breathe more easily. The air, so fresh a moment before, seemed suffocating now. His fingers ached. He’d been making fists. To control himself? Damn right.
He longed to cross the room and turn her around so she’d notice him, her expression saying she not only approved, she wanted him more than the others, her actions affirming her reckless desire.

Saturday Promo - Emma Lai...

Blurb:

Miss Annabelle Abbott's reckless determination to find a husband has delivered her into the hands of fortune hunters more than once. So it's only logical her next suitor prove he's more attracted to her person than her fortune...isn't it? After a heated kiss with a delicious duke is interrupted, Annabelle is left hungry for answers. What more is there between a man and a woman? Why does she ache in strange places? And how far is she willing to go to find the answers?

All his life, Gareth Grey, Duke of Powis, has done his duty and obeyed Society's strictures. But when he encounters Miss Annabelle Abbott, he can't resist dancing her onto the deserted terrace in hopes of stealing a taste of her lips. The beautiful debutante's ensuing antics arouse Gareth's body and test his much-valued control. Left with no real choice but to rescue the headstrong woman from ruin, Gareth offers marriage and gives in to her wanton ways.

However, when she misbehaves one too many times on the way to the altar, Gareth decides she needs a lesson in control, and Annabelle's left with only one last question...will he teach her that lesson at least once more?

Excerpt
'William just purchased a lovely mare from Minerva’s father for me. A bit of a bribe to get me to behave, I’m sure.” She laughed, but it sounded forced to his ears.

“And do you misbehave often?” His hands tightened, but he resisted the urge to tug her closer and encourage her to misbehave with him. He could well see why this dance was considered dangerous. It definitely tempted him to forget his manners—and her virtue. The scent of lilacs and sunshine beckoned him to bury his nose in her neck, lick the pulse beating beneath the fine skin and taste her flavor.

“On occasion…” She stared off in the distance while her voice trailed off on a sigh.

A yearning to erase the pensive air about her, coupled with the desire pounding through his veins, directed his steps toward the open doors leading to the terrace. The cool evening air brushed his cheeks as he continued to twirl her about the empty terrace. It was too early in the evening for people to seek the solace of the outdoors.

“Whatever are we doing out of doors?” A small smile creased the corner of her eyes.

Satisfaction relaxed his shoulders. It had been so easy to distract her from whatever dark thoughts she’d had in the ballroom. How easy would it be to convince her to misbehave with him? He inched her closer. He dropped his head so his lips teased her hair. “Giving you occasion to misbehave.”
