10 Things I love (or maybe 3 things)
The other day I watched something (can't remember what) which isn't the point. The point is that we had to think of 10 things I loved that weren't family, friends, pets, etc. Ten things? That I loved?
Thinking...
Ok, so 10 things. I mean I like my things and all but love? Hum. Pretty strong words for items. I came up with 3. Yes, 3. Three items I love and can (but don't want to) live without.
1. My Disney thermal hoodie. What? It's warm, versatile, and flattering. What isn't to love? It's missin...

Wednesday Regency: How an Eruption Changed the World
[image error]
If you've ever heard about the Year without a Summer, the eruption of Mount Tambora on April 15, 1815 was the cause. The eruption killed nearly 100,000 people (initial blast, tsunamis, and starvation from the destruction) and cause massive weather disruptions for the next 2 years, though it wasn't understood why that happened until much later. The later eruption of Krakota is more widely known because of the advances in world-wide media coverage.
The weather in 1816 was bizarre. Spring ca...

Seduction of a Proper Lady: A Regency Menage Tale
Laurel admitted to a certain curiosity about Major Sinclair. All she knew of him was the bit Catherine had whispered to her last night and what Ashmore had relayed this afternoon. It was a pity she thought as she banked the fire, that Ashmore wasn’t a suitable prospect. He certainly was a charming man. ...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]></div>

Friday Recipe: Pork Chops
I had no idea what to make and it's spring now, I thought I should put my crockpot away. I haven't yet, this weather is cold but I thought I'd make something springy. But what was I in the mood for? Thank you internet and my spring meals search.
Better Homes & Gardens offered a quick and easy spring meal selection. I chose Mustard-Glazed Pork Chops. It claims 25 minutes. Never believe that. But it wasn't too, too long. Picture is theirs. No. Mine didn't look like that, but then I didn't ad...

DIY Thursday: Getting rid of ivy
I don't mind ivy per se, not in the I hate it and want to rip every shred by its roots and mash it until it dies way. Unless it's taken over my back yard from a neighbor's uncontrolled infestation. I think ivy looks lovely around fences, arbors, pergolas, and the like. In that ornamental greenery kind of way. And until this house, I had that as a vague backyard plan. No more.
For 5 years I've tried to get rid of the ivy that's creeping up my trees, into my garden, and around what little grass...

Regency News: Battle of Copenhagen 1801
Let's face it, in nearly every Regency novel The Napoleonic War is mentioned. Some center entirely around a battle. And heroes. Every battle needs a hero. Every Regency Romance needs a hero!
[image error] The Battle of Copenhagen saw Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson lead the main attack. This is where he's supposed to have disobeyed Admiral Sir Hyde Parker's order to withdraw by holding the telescope to his blind eye to look at the signals from Parker. Yes and no. Let's face it, it makes Nelson a hero...

April Fools Day
Sure, we all know today is April 1, the traditional All Fools Day, and while I'm not really one for pranks or jokes, I am one for behind the scenes. What's it mean? Where'd it come from? (I still want to know where the Easter Bunny fits into the Easter tradition.)
And I don't mind reading about a good prank or joke. I love Motley Fool for their cleverness. But what's behind it? And why has it survived so long? Because we as humans like to joke? OK, I can get behind that. Better than other alte...
