Then start small, write short stories, write ideas that you're not overwhelmingly emotionally invested in.

On the other hand, if the best you've got is pop fiction (say a Twilight) and you're not trying to win any literary awards then go for it. I've met lots of young writers who never get off the ground because they want to build a house without having to learn how to mix the concrete that builds their foundation.(less)

I draw my inspiration from many sources. Typically little bits of information just stick in my thoughts and eventually the combination of disparate ideas come together to form an idea I build on. It's a little like shaking up a bag of Scrabble tiles, dumping them on the ground and having a single word come out. From that I start the work of building a story round it.(less)
