Enjoy some Romance on the Go with Lila Shaw & "Soul of the Succubus"

Lila Shaw is here today and just wait until you see what she's brought for us to enjoy. Please help me welcome her with some of that good ol' fashioned "Sealed with a Kiss" love!!

Here's what we know about our talented guest:

Lila Shaw is the pen name for a writer of works of erotica and erotic romance.  Her erotic writings typically involve strong-willed women, and are often playful, sarcastic and even silly.  She believes if you can’t occasionally laugh at the physical aspects of love, you’re taking life far too seriously. Her other works include All's Fair in Love and War, Vixen and the Pea and short stories in the Midnight Seduction and Stockings and Suspenders anthologies, all from Evernight Publishing. Lila lives in the Pacific NW with her very funny husband and two sons.

Take it away, Lila!!

Thank you for spotlighting me and my latest release from Evernight Publishing, Soul of the Succubus, a Romance on the Go.
I do love a good short story. Throw a succubus in the mix and it’s my kinda thang. It’s no secret that succubi are my favorite supernatural critters. She is the perfect, most sexually uninhibited female for a fun romp, even if that romp is driven by her survival instincts. She is unapologetic and jaded, yet in those moments where she finds happiness and love, she is every woman.
Thank you, Robin for allowing me to tell readers a little bit about Soul of the Succubus.
After nearly four millennia, Yve, a succubus and harvester of souls, has finally met her quota. She must travel to hell to redeem her own from the devil who holds it in hock. Ta’avah, the hunky and charming minion responsible for luring Yve into sexual slavery, joins her for her redemption ceremony before an audience of ogling demons. The pair soon learn that deals with the devil are rarely settled to anyone’s satisfaction other than Lucifer’s. Only one weapon can trump those of the master of deception, but do Yve or Ta have enough humanity left in them to wield it?
Excerpt:When I come to, Lou’s gone. It’s just me and Ta and … a dozen demons that don’t look too friendly. The ones who enjoyed the show are writhing in the final throes of their own erotic adventures. They pose no threat. The bastardized hybrids of beast and man, however, scare the bejeezus out of me.“Get dressed while I hold them off,” Ta mutters, barely moving his lips. He buttons and zips up, staring down the bolder demons that move a mite too close. The monster-type aren’t clever but they’re persistent and deadly when the spirit moves. Their kind also tends to follow a pack mentality―when one attacks, they all attack.I tug my own clothes on with supersonic speed, ditching the underwear. Before I slip on my boots, I remove the two church-blessed daggers I have concealed in the shank of each boot. I never visit Hell unarmed. When I spin around, Ta holds an ax in one hand and a knife in the other. He’s also slipped on a shirt he either hid or stole. He takes in my status and nods. “You retain the title of smartest succubus I ever created.”“High praise, indeed,” I say.“If we can make it to the door of the palace, I can seal it from the outside. That’ll give us a small head start, hopefully enough to get us to the portal.”“Why are you helping me instead of them?” I wave my dagger at a lecherous satyr who takes a swipe at me but only snags my hair. “Because, my sweet Yve, you are not the only one who has fulfilled a contract.” Ta delivers a roundhouse kick to a second satyr who tries to sneak up on him. With a loud screech, it falls to the floor and is set upon by two dragon-like demons that rip it in half.“What? You’re a conscript? You were human once?” All this time, I’d thought Ta a minion. I’d no idea, he’d bargained his way into the job of chief succubus-maker.“A conscript bound to deliver a billion souls for my freedom through the succubi I made. Your millionth was my billionth plus one for extra security. I chose you well, Yve. You were my first, my favorite.” His smile is boyish with a hint of pride. The heart I thought frozen solid thousands of years ago thaws enough to release a slow drip of water.“Let’s get the hell out of here then,” I say to Ta.“On my signal… Now!”I bolt for the door. Two drooling, fanged demons covered in thick pelts of black dreadlocks try to block my path. A stab in the gut transforms them into shrieking balls of fur and teeth. Four demons pounce and finish them off. The rest pursue. Ta spins to take out one of the speed demons.“Keep going, I’ll be right behind you!” he yells.I do, taking out three foul-smelling trolls who charge as I enter the front lobby. My flight skids to halt, however, when the front door refuses to open.“Go!” Ta shouts as he finishes off a large attacker with the head of a komodo dragon and the body of an orangutan. I hear its death howls and Ta’s approaching footfall.“It won’t open!” I shriek tugging on the door handle.“It’s warded. Say ‘Owa’a Teygu’u Siyam’ three times while spinning and it’ll open.”“What? Okay.” I do as Ta says and when I finish, he’s standing next to me flipping a series of latches I’d not noticed. The door swings free. He chuckles and motions me through, slamming the door behind us. From his pocket, he produces a padlock he uses to secure an external latch. “Owa’a Teygu’u Siyam!” He claps his hands three times then clicks the lock shut. When he says the words, they sound suspiciously like ‘Oh what a goose I am.’ Damn him. I’m such an idiot.“There was no magic ward on the door, was there?” I cross my arms in front of my chest, the points of my two daggers pointed to the sky.“Nope. But you sure were cute spinning around, confessing your mental slowness.” A peal of laughter erupts and has to run its course before he takes my hand and says, “Come on, Miss Fois Gras. Let’s get out of here before Lou sics any more nasties on us.”

Adonis Devereux and "A Soldier's Lotus" Dominates Sealed with a Kiss!!

Sealed with a Kiss has hosted a plethora of authors over the last two years, all amazing in their own right, but today we have hit the proverbial jackpot and I have never been more nervous. Why?Well because my guests today, affectionately referred to in certain writing circles as the "Adonii", are sharing their latest release and I am doing all I can to cross my Ts and watch my spelling. Not only are they superb authors, but they are tough-as-nails editors and I've had the pleasure of being on the receiving end of their editing whip once already. Though I believe the "fairer" half of this dynamic duo doled out my licks, I'm sure the brawny half was lurking around somewhere watching... at least that's how it played out in my fantasy--errr--version. =^-^=To prevent dragging this out a moment longer and earning myself a much deserved spanking, please help me welcome, Adonis Devereux!!
Thanks for having us today! Hi, we’re the husband-wife writing team of Adonis Devereux. You know what’s different about us? I’m sure you’re all aware of how it’s trendy for romance novels to have both the heroine’s and the hero’s points of view. Well, since we’re a husband-wife writing team, we have the advantage of the right writer writing the right gender. The Mr. writes the chapters with the hero’s POV, and the Mrs. writes the heroine’s!
We’d like to introduce today our fifth erotic romance novel set in the fantasy world of Gilalion, a place where anything is possible, especially love against all odds. The Soldier’s Lotus explores themes of slavery, revenge, and unexpected love between a white woman and a black man. Saerileth, the heroine, comes from a small island nation dependent on the larger and more powerful nation on the mainland. When she meets Darien, the large, sex-god navy captain, she remembers him from her past, though he does not recognize her.
If you haven’t fallen into our world yet, now’s your chance. And don’t forget to check out our backlist, all titles coming from this erotic, fantastic world.
Comment below for a chance to win not only a free copy of The Soldier’s Lotus but also the map that accompanies the novel!
Don’t forget to “like” our Facebook Author Page for access to exclusive content including maps and recipes. Happy reading!

BlurbOne death. Saerileth had trained all her life for one death. From the time her clan had been massacred when she was five years old, until now, thirteen years later, Saerileth has sought one death. Now that she has attained the rank of full-blown Lotus, she has been sent by the Red Lotus guild to the foreign city of Arinport. But Saerileth has other plans, and the one death she seeks is more to her than the guild's plans for her. Saerileth's plans go awry, however, when she meets Darien, the brave soldier from her past, whom she had never expected to see again.
Darien alters everything, simply by being there, and Saerileth is swept up into a world of intrigue and assassination that makes seeking her one death even harder. But her mission of vengeance is difficult to reconcile with being the soldier's Lotus, and in the end, Saerileth's choice will affect three nations.
Be Warned: multiple partners, ménage sex, anal sex, m/m sex, spanking, erotic asphyxiation.
Excerpt“I must enter you now,” Darien said, and Saerileth’s eyes widened.“Why?”“To prevent my crew from taking you themselves and dividing you as common spoil.”“Can you not just order them not to?”Darien shook his head. “They found you. If I renounce salvage rights to you, they can claim them. The only way to put you utterly beyond their power is to make you my legal concubine.”“Then why do you not just tell them I am?” Saerileth shifted on the divan and crossed her ankles.Darien glanced back at Kamen who stood in front of the door and looked straight ahead, bending his concentration on the invisible air. He did not make eye contact with Darien. Something serious ate at him, something that had started the moment Saerileth came aboard.“I tried that once,” Darien said, returning his attention to the girl he knew he must couple with. “There was no contract, no witness. I didn’t want to take the girl against her will, so I faked it. We Sunjaa are the People of the Word, as you probably know. If it isn’t written down and witnessed, it didn’t happen.” Darien did not enjoy talking about this, but he wanted Saerileth to understand. “Well, my crew went ahead and raped her anyway, and I wasn’t able to do anything about it. She was their salvage, and I had failed her.”Saerileth stood and let her pallav fall. Darien drew in a long, deep breath. Her beauty was divine, every line and curve perfect. “Your pain is fresh, as if this happened yesterday. You are a man of deep feeling.” And she laid her hand on the bare part of his chest that lay exposed from his loose shirt. Her flesh was still cold from the seawater, but her touch was like fire on his skin, sending hunger through him. “I will take you, then.” It was half statement, half question. He laid his hands on her shoulders, feeling her delicate frame beneath his strong, soldierly hands. All Saerileth did was look up at him through her long, black eyelashes and nod. That sent Darien over the edge. He picked her up and kissed her mouth, tasting her lips as if they were fruit. She was half his size, and he easily wrapped his arms around her back, bringing his hands to her opposite sides. She threw her arms around his neck as she kissed him back with equal fervor. Her legs were wrapped around his waist, and due to their size difference, she was practically perched on his massive, muscular frame. To Darien, she was no weight at all. He had carried heavier sacks of grain.Saerileth unwrapped her pallav from her left forearm and tossed it away. With both hands free, she ran her fingers across Darien’s close-cropped hair. Between kisses, Darien could catch glimpses of her body. Under the pallav, she wore a short shirt that left her midriff bare, and the skirt she wore, though tight, accommodated a wide range of movement. The material was elastic enough to allow her legs free reign.Darien laid Saerileth down on the divan and lay on top of her, though he rested most of his weight on his forearms and one knee that wedged itself between the cushions. So much for the pristine state of the divan! But to Darien, this moment made his saving it worth it. He wanted to be rough with Saerileth, but this was her first time with him, so he promised himself he would be gentle. By the way she ground against him and the way she deep-kissed, Darien guessed she was skilled in sex, but he could not know whether she had ever taken a man of his size inside her before. Considering she was dressed as if she had just come from the Dimadan, he guessed she had not. The Sunjaa were better endowed than the Zenji, and Darien was better endowed than any other Sunjaa he knew. And he had seen a lot of cocks in his day.Saerileth blindly yanked at his breeches, and he blindly yanked at the shirt that hugged her breasts. They could not stop even for a moment to look at what they were doing; he needed more of her kisses. He did not want to miss one taste. He was greedy for this beautiful, pale stranger, and her clear desire for him only served to make him abandon all reason. His growl slipped past her tongue, and she responded by sucking on his bottom lip. His cock swelled, and he was obliged to reach down and loosen the strings so that his cock might burst free. When it did, it slapped against Saerileth’s belly with such a smack that she gasped and pulled away from Darien. Her eyes searched his in wonderment, as if she had discovered hidden treasure. She gazed into his eyes as her hand found his cock. Once she touched it, she smiled at Darien, let slip a light laugh, and fell to kissing him again.

Magic Mike & Gettin' Your Freak On....

Yep, I need to get my freak on and in a bad way, my friends.
With the release of the movie, Magic Mike, my social media networks have been buzzing and it's not all because of battery operated boyfriends!! Heheh!!
Women are coming out of the woodwork just itching to get their freak on and with a cast like Magic Mike has, who could blame them?
Click to Visit Warner Bros SiteMen have had free reign in the "stripper" arena for decades, and it's about time women feel the freedom to express our need for sex, drinks and rock-n-roll, too!!
What better way to let our hair down while hoopin' and hollerin' at men who want to make us smile...not to mention fork over stacks and stacks of $1 bills to watch them bump and grind??
Point me in the direction of that line because I'm gettin' in it!!
As as writer of erotic romance, I will be one of the last people to fault any woman who wants to be naughty while expressing appreciation for men and the male form... and this movie has someone for everyone.
No one should leave the theater unhappy... unless it's because the show is over.
If you haven't seen the promo for this movie, then by all means, crawl out from under the shelter of your rock and join the Magic Mike Party!!
The following pics and clips are from Magic Mike, Magic Mike Facebook Pages and Warner Bros. Pictures. ENJOY!!

**** WARNING: NUDITY AND SEXUAL SITUATIONS ARE DEPICTED ON THE PHOTOS AND GIF IMAGES BELOW***

Lila Shaw shares her yummy new release, "Vixen and the Pea"

I love when new authors drop in with a bag full of goodies, and today is one of those days. Lila Shaw has stopped by and one lucky person who leaves a comment will find themselves the winner of a digital copy of “Vixen and the Pea” !!
Let’s get to know her a little bit first, then we’ll dive into that bag of goodies and take a peek at the book.

Lila Shaw is the pen name for a writer of works of erotica and erotic romance.  She also writes adult fiction (novels and short stories in many genres) and non-fiction under the pen name of Claire Gillian. Her erotic writings typically involve strong-willed women, and are often playful, sarcastic and even silly.  She believes if you can’t occasionally laugh at the physical aspects of love, you’re taking life far too seriously.Published works include All's Fair in Love and War, short stories in the Midnight Seduction and Stockings and Suspenders anthologies, all from Evernight Publishing. As Claire Gillian, her debut novel, The P.U.R.E. was released in April 2012. Lila lives in the Pacific NW with her very funny husband and two sons.  She works full time as a finance/operations professional for a large insurance company.

***Now, I’m handing the reins over to Lila, so nobody bite her… but if you do, make sure to be gentle, after all, we want her to come back!!
Hi Robin and thanks for sharing your home for a bit with me and introducing me to your readers.
Vixen and the Pea  is the latest offering from Evernight's Naughty Fairy Tale line and is based on one of my favorite fairy tales, "The Princess and the Pea" by Hans Christian Andersen.  I always loved the trait that set apart a commoner from royalty in that story:  only skin as delicate as that of a princess could feel an object as tiny as a pea when laid beneath mattress after mattress. A more humorous variation of the story, and another of my favorites is the play, "Once Upon a Mattress", which starred the wonderful Carol Burnett. In that variation, the princess wannabe receives some surreptitious aid from interested third parties and the next morning's results are a series of hilarious double-entendres. I loved that! Some say even Hans Christian Andersen's version was rather tongue-in-cheek. What better bones for a naughty fairy tale than one already steeped in innuendo?

All that stands between playboy Prince Koldo and the throne is his wife…or the lack thereof. Koldo has no desire to wed anyone, let alone the know-it-all shrew his parents favor.Lady Otsana is fed up with the oppressive sexism that requires she hide her face, body and brains. She much prefers the sexual adventures she enjoys out of her birka-like clothing when she becomes Fleur.Prince Koldo also has an alter ego, Bero, only Fleur is not fooled by his disguise. Just as Fleur and Bero’s attempts to best each other in the bedroom blossom into romance, Koldo reaches the end of his tether. His bride will be chosen by contest at the upcoming King’s Ball.Otsana must make a difficult decision. Will she enter the Prince’s contest and risk all for a chance at love or will she play it safe but give up Bero forever? Excerpt: The first rays of the sun seeped through the openings in the window curtains. Koldo took himself in hand and tried to stroke new life into his fallen soldier. Not a single spark could he coax from the once lively fellow. He pumped faster, but the pressure only elicited a wince. Had the wench bruised his manhood? Was such an injury even possible? With a sigh, he turned his head, prepared to concede defeat to the succubus he had bedded, a demon in the guise of a woman who had nearly sucked the life out of him.Its eyelids were shut, lashes fanning across high, sculpted cheekbones. The demon’s dark tresses lay askew across the pillow, with a long lock trailing down over one breast. She really was a lovely creature. He leaned closer to lay a soft kiss upon her lips and to see if she had been spying on his resurrection attempts. Lips had almost met lips when hers parted and a loud snort, like that of a pig, burst out. He recoiled snickering.Otsana’s snores grew louder, but soon their steady cadence lulled Koldo into a drowsy state, and his eyes drooped shut one last time before sealing.***Otsana wasn’t sure if the rooster’s crowing woke her or the shaking of the bed, but both had her sitting bolt upright. Koldo no longer lay next to her but sat on the edge, pulling on his boots.“Merde! How long have I been asleep?” she asked rubbing her eyes. No point in pretending. She’d lost their bet. The arrogant Prince of Basqueland had bested her. No man had ever outlasted her in bed before. How had this bastard done it?Koldo turned and smiled. “Since the first light of dawn at least. I was all set to pounce upon you once again when the most unholy noise came forth from your mouth. My lady, you snore … loudly.”“I do not!” Otsana gathered the sheets to her breasts and scanned the room for her clothes.“You most certainly do.” He leaned over to fetch something from the ground that he tossed to her. Her shift. Another lean produced a single black stocking. She remembered its mate had been pressed into service and indeed was still tied to the bedpost. A wicked smile passed across her lips as she untied it. Perhaps another night with this rogue wasn’t the worst means of settling a wager. “I will concede that I have lost our bet … but not that I snore.”A deep booming laugh caught her off guard. She’d expected him to crow about winning, yet he’d not spoken a word about it thus far.“As you wish. Seeing as my carnal needs were thwarted by your … softly slumbering self, ‘twas not snoring I heard but my own disappointed hopes.Otsana gave him a sidelong glance. “Another night we said?”“Aye, my lady, on the date of my choosing.”She gathered her stocking and prepared to slip it over her foot, when he stilled her hand and took the stocking. He turned toward her and slowly unrolled the woolen knitwear over her foot and up her leg, his fingers lightly skimming her skin during their trek. A sigh escaped her lips. Why did his touch affect her this way?His mission complete, he lifted his eyes to meet hers. “Three nights hence, meet me here at sunset. I’ll leave a note for you with the innkeeper telling you which room.”She nodded, unable to tear her gaze away. When he ran hasty fingers through his disheveled hair, the moment was broken, and they both turned their attention elsewhere. He appeared as puzzled as she felt.“Very well. Three nights.” She drew on her other stocking, pretending to be engrossed in her task while she sifted through a muddle of emotions. The bed jiggled when Koldo stood to slip on his coat, the only remaining garment he had not donned. He strode to the door, which he opened halfway then paused and glanced back at her.Her brows lifted in question, and she waited for him to say something, but no words came. The man himself moved, heavy-footed, back to the bed where she sat and without a word, snatched her into his arms. The kiss he planted was commanding and thorough. Otsana’s bones began to liquefy, but before she could embarrass herself by begging him to stay a while longer, he wrenched his mouth away.“Three nights,” he said, and with a curt nod of his head, left.

Lola Drake debuts her first novel, Pursuit of a Kiss!!

Hello strangers!!
Click to Visit     It's been a while since I've posted and I have sincerely missed you all. You know what they say about no rest for the wicked, so trust when I tell you that my absence has been for good reason... or should I say wickedly sexy reasons!!  Keep an eye out on these "Wickedly Sexy" ladies... we are definitely up to no good and you will reap the benefits of that very soon!!

Click to Visit     As a peace offering, I have the privilege of sharing with you an incredibly talented new friend and colleague from Evernight Publishing. I have met so many wonderful authors over there and it thrills me to expand my Rolodex with names such as Lola Drake !!
She's dropped by today to share her debut novel, Pursuit of a Kiss , but first, let me tell you what I've learned about Miss Lola:
At first Lola Drake longed to be an actress, until she discovered the writer controlled what came out of the actors’ mouths. While she still prefers the limelight to sequestering herself in a dark room feeling tortured for her art, she now writes full-time and loves it (even the tortured bits). Recently back in Los Angeles after spending several years in Europe, Lola has moved from screenplays to novels. In books she feels she can explore more of her characters' secret fears and inner desires, especially when things in life aren’t quite so black and white as we’d like to think.
I am so glad Lola made that move. Now let's see the outcome of that endeavor: Book Three  in the Cupid's Conquest Series !!
Click to Buy     Ousted from Olympus until he can restore true love to the world, Eros stumbles upon a match made in heaven – if they can survive hell first.     Juliet doesn’t have much in common with her namesake. Her career-centric life sorely lacks romance. Then one night everything changes when she witnesses a gang shooting, and she ends up a victim herself.     FBI Agent Jake Parker has known Juliet for years, but only as the baby sister of his best friend. He still imagines her as the awkward teenager she used to be. When Jake must protect Juliet from the gang determined to eliminate the only witness who can testify against them, he discovers that he’s not the only one who’s changed in the last ten years.     As sparks fly and the danger mounts, Juliet and Jake must decide what they're willing to risk in the pursuit of what's possibly true love's kiss.
EXCERPT: Juliet emerged from the shower, relieved to be out of the hospital and back at her own house. Pulling off the plastic bag that had kept her arm dry, she limped to the closet – her hip still a bit sore from the “flesh wound.” Easy for doctors to say––it wasn’t their flesh that bullet had blazed a path across. She knew she had far more pressing things to worry about, but she couldn’t help taking a moment to hope the scar wouldn’t be too ugly once it healed.Ablutions complete, she sank, exhausted, onto the chair in front of her old-fashioned white vanity. Her mother had used that vanity as a teenager, and she’d given it to Juliet for her sixteenth birthday. Now, even at twenty-nine, Juliet still loved using it. Somehow she always felt prettier seeing her reflection in that ornate antique mirror than she did anywhere else, especially in the last few years since her mother died. She trailed her finger over a tiny crack in the wood. Her mother had been furious when Juliet had done that. Now, however, as she rested her palm upon it, she couldn’t think of anything in the world she wanted more than a hug from her mother and her reassuring voice saying everything would be all right. The soft knock on the door startled her. “Come in.”Jake poked his head in the doorway. “Are you doing okay? Need any help?”“I’m managing.”
"You in a lot of pain?”Juliet shook her head, attempting to brush her hair left-handed. “The medication helps. I’m more frustrated than anything.”“So let me help.”Jake came up behind her, took the brush from her hand, and stroked it through her hair. His thumb grazed the back of her neck as he gathered up a section of curls, holding them so he wouldn’t pull at her head as he worked out a tangle. Their eyes met in the mirror and held. Juliet’s heart thumped in her chest so loudly she wondered if Jake could hear it. If he did, he gave nothing away as he ran his long fingers gently across her scalp.“You have beautiful hair.”Juliet chuckled. “Now I know you’re feeling sorry for me. My hair’s brown and boring.”Jake shook his head, gently separating out a few strands. His eyes met hers in the mirror once more. “No it’s not. It has shades of auburn and even gold under certain light. It’s beautiful.”Her breath caught. The air around them grew heavy with expectation as once more their eyes locked through the mirror. Slowly, as though afraid any movement might startle him like a frightened deer in the woods, Juliet turned around to face him. Desire flared inside her. She’d wanted him for so long, and now, with the heat in his gaze… was he finally going to kiss her after all these years?  Keeping her eyes glued to his, she rose, their bodies so close they practically touched. Jake’s breath warmed her cheek and a need, a hunger flared in his eyes. As he leaned in, Juliet’s eyes drifted closed, the anticipation of having his mouth on hers at last overwhelming her. And then it happened, his lips touched her––on the forehead. What the…? Juliet’s eyes flew open. Jake abruptly stepped back, setting down her brush. “Got any good movies? Let’s go watch a movie. I need a beer.” He turned on his heel and practically sprinted from the room.Juliet couldn’t understand what the hell had just happened. She did know she wished she had thrown the brush at his retreating back. He clearly wanted her. Didn’t he?A photo of her and her brother Aaron from her high school graduation caught her eye. Oh yeah. Aaron. Maybe that had prompted Jake’s decision not to touch her? At least, she hoped that was the reason and not that he still thought of her as an ungainly kid sister. But she felt sure she hadn’t imagined anything. He had lightly licked in his lips in that moment before leaning in, and the way he had caressed her hair definitely didn’t feel like something a brother would do.No, Jake wanted her. And she would convince him to see that.

Monday Madness: A peek into an erotic author's mind!!

As I read back the title of this post, I must admit, I had myself a little chuckle, especially since the mind I'm referring to is my own. Depending on how you read it, one may question if I am an author of erotic romance, or an erotic author. That last part is where the chuckle came in.
I have been accused of being many things in my life, but erotic hasn't been one of them. Naughty maybe or perhaps even a little "throwed off", as we say here in Texas, but never erotic.
Anyway, before I find myself way off track here, (as if that would ever happen) allow me to get back to my point. As an author of erotic romance, I often wonder what the people who don't know me, think about me and the kind of person I am. The woman behind the books, if you will.

While I can't speak for every reader, I can share with you the conflicting reactions I've received.
Some perceive me in a negative light, as though I am some deviant who peddles sex (this is where I often keel over from laughter) and exploits intimacy and sexual exploration.
This couldn't be farther from the truth. Well, except for the intimacy and sexual exploration part... though I'd say encouraging it is far from exploiting it.

First of all, sex is a common occurrence between two people (Consenting ADULTS) who are attracted to one another. It's a natural event and when I describe the act in my stories, I do so with with the utmost respect, especially for the female characters, while at the same time, empowering them and strengthening their MONOGAMOUS bond. I can't stress this enough.

Have I pushed the boundaries of my personal comfort zone with the details? Yes. Otherwise I wouldn't grow as a writer.
Have I crossed those lines? Absolutely not, and probably won't ever do so.
On the other hand, some people are surprised by my somewhat conservative views in my personal life considering the liberties I take with my books.

Now before you get all worried by my use of the word "conservative", please allow me to elaborate.
I am a mother, and that aspect of my life comes first and foremost before anything else. Since I am a widow and not currently dating, putting my children at the top of my list is quite easy. (not that being married or in a relationship would change that... my kids will always come first)
Just because I allow the characters in my books to be sexually uninhibited doesn't mean I am giving the nod for my children to behave promiscuously and go hog-wild. Quite the opposite actually.

While I don't "preach" abstinence, I am not giving the green light for teen sex or even premarital sex for that matter. Would I prefer my children to be in a healthy, mutually exclusive, monogamous relationship before giving up that ONE part of their lives only they can control? Absolutely.
Am I an idiot to think they will wait until marriage before doing the deed? Absolutely not.
After all, I didn't wait for marriage and neither did my parents. If I were to ask, I'd lay odds that my grandparents didn't either. So what kind of a hypocrite would I be to insist my kids uphold such a nearly impossible task if the generations before them didn't either?
I do have expectations though and they are quite aware of what they are. Being an ADULT is just the first of many and always being SAFE comes in second on that list.
If you've ever read my books, then you know that my characters don't cheat, abuse or humiliate each other, physically, sexually or emotionally, or any other terrible things humans have been known to do to their partners. I expect this in my own relationships and the future relationships my kids will have. It's non-negotiable!!

Now have my characters explored their sensuality, fantasized and maybe even experimented within the confines of their sexual relationship? Yep, they sure have. It's a natural progression between consenting adults and perfectly acceptable behavior.

Have my characters done things I've personally done? Hey, what kind of a girl do you think I am? I would never kiss and tell...or would I? *Heheh...
I've had many labels in my life...daughter, wife, sister, mother, friend, lover, and even a few we won't mention, but one label I have never had is Prude.

I'm quite frank about my view of romance and just how far I will go in my stories. And although I am labeled as an "erotic" author, most of my books would be best described as sensual. And THAT is a label I really like, and one I'd be comfortable with in my personal life, as well. Just the word has a naughty but nice ring to it. How fun is that?
A mutually satisfying relationship is all that matters in the end.

While I can't speak for everyone out there, I can say with great confidence, that of the wonderful writers I do know, the authors behind the books on your nightstands or tucked away in your e-readers, are pretty much just like everyone else... perhaps just a little more in touch with the voices prattling in our heads, but far from depraved... well most of us anyway! *Heheh

Have a terrific week!!

LOVE is NOT about Gender! International Day Against Homophobia!

Over the last four decades I've been surrounded by people of all walks of life and was taught that everyone is equal and deserve to be treated as such.
Of course, being a teenager in the 80's in Texas, that usually pertained to people of different races and religions. Sexual orientation wasn't even a blip on my radar, which is kind of silly considering I have gay and lesbian family members and dear friends. Heck, even my grandparents had friends who were gay.

Thinking back on it now, it may not have been a big deal because their sexuality wasn't an issue. They were who they were and we love them.
My ideals didn't begin to change until I was seventeen and began to worry about peer presure. Not everyone had been raised as open minded as I had, so when the rumors started flying that my best friend was in to girls, I said something I may never forgive myself for.

Lacking maturity and conviction in my ideals, I told those not so important people, "If she's a lesbian, I'll never forgive her."
I soon ate my words and apologized, but in the back of my mind, that moment of ignorance and weakness still haunts me.
Years have past and all of those youthful mistakes are now water under the bridge.

Today, I stand by my convictions and if those not so important people surrounding me now don't like it...well, then they're suddenly not as important as I may have thought they were.
I've had time to reflect on my ideals and beliefs and I'm pleased to say that I still believe in equality in love, marriage and well... everything. I'm even more pleased to say that my kids believe the same as well. Why? Because that's how I raised them!

After all, people aren't born prejudice and full of hate. They're made that way by the hateful, close-minded people who raised them.
That's the simple truth of the matter.
We can't expect others to understand or even accept when things aren't quite "normal" until we show them what "normal" should really look like.
And the only way to do that is to make everyone the same... equal!! Eliminate the distinction and eliminate the need for exclusion.
    How do we get there?

     Well it may sound simple...
We do it through love, understanding and a common goal.
The first step is to set an example and not to answer hatred with more of the same.

The horrible truth is people, even adults, are more worried about what their friends will say if they join the fight against homophobia, even though they may not disagree with the right for equality .
     It's human nature.
It's that dreaded peer pressure thing or the fear of being shunned or persecuted.

We've seen this type of prejudice many times... or have we forgotten about the black mark left behind in history from slavery or the Holocaust.
Hatred  is the real disease and is the same no matter the intended target.
But there is hope... a cure, if you will... LOVE, ACCEPTANCE AND A PLAIN OL' FASHIONED DOSE OF HUMANITY!!
Sounds too simple, right? Well that's the hard pill to swallow. It is.
But the upside is, it's not to late too change it. In fact, the time has never been better to make a difference.
Below you will find more websites and blogs of authors and people just like me. People who are looking to the future. People who have a dream... a dream of equality for all.
