Until he got pinched, and hit with a forty-eight month sentence for a crime the feds still can’t quite figure out. She was only seven at the time, but old enough to understand how integral writing would be to her future. From that moment on, reading and writing became her two greatest passions. Olivia is a newbie to the industry, but she hasn't stopped writing since she found her literary voice all those years ago. Araya’s AddictionJocelyn DexErotic Paranormal Romance
Kean wakes up naked, collared and locked in a cell, he knows thinking with his dick has finally gotten him into trouble.     Kean, part Incubus, enjoys scorching and frequent sex. One night, he finds himself a prisoner forced to help a Sempire rescue her daughter from certain death. To gain his freedom, Kean must save her life, but she refuses his help, even though the lust between them is undeniable.     Determined to escape and to help Araya, Kean ups the stakes and forces Araya into a situation that makes it impossible for her to continue refusing him. Feeling betrayed, Araya enacts a scheme to get Kean out of her life, but her best laid plans may awaken emotions that will bind them to each other forever.
ExcerptAraya reached the door and the sight that met her eyes almost floored her. Through the fog of the glass shower door, she watched Kean’s muscled form beneath the flow of water, his head bent forward, one hand pressed against the shower wall in front of him. The other hand gripped his shaft. He pumped it with long, slow strokes from base to tip, sometimes lingering at the head. His eyes opened as if he sensed her presence and he inclined his head toward her. She wanted to close the door, but the alluring scene held her captive, her feet frozen in place. He stopped stroking himself just long enough to slide open the shower door, giving her a completely unobstructed view of the water running down his muscled body, running off the thick head of his erection. Not only did her mouth water, her pussy ached and flooded with desire. He resumed the stroking, faster this time, sometimes breaking the motion to slide his fingers over his balls. She saw the muscles in his arm tense as he squeezed and stroked harder, faster. His strained voice startled her out of her daze. “If you want it, hurry.”Araya took a step forward, wanting, needing, desiring. Instead, she jumped back and slammed the door shut between her and the temptation. She leaned against the door, breathing heavily. She’d never seen anything so intriguing, so beautiful, so freaking sexy. She’d almost lost herself. She’d never been so close to dropping to her knees and welcoming a hard, thick intrusion into her mouth and sucking until it filled her with liquid heaven. She fell backward as the door opened but Kean caught her and scooped her into his arms.“What are you doing?” she asked.“Carrying you to bed.”“Why?” she squeaked.“I’m a sucker for a female in need of an orgasm.”“What? I don’t-I-” she sputtered.“Either I’m giving you an orgasm or you’re giving yourself one. But I won’t be able to concentrate on anything else with the smell of your need clogging my brain. Your choice.” Reviews of Araya’s Addiction Gaele @ The Jeep Diva: …With several steamy to downright scorching scenes, clever dialogue, humor and the potential for a happy ever after, this was a really fun and clever read. Dex has created a new sexual demon, and made them lovable, if not a bit outrageous in their attitudes and thinking. The desires and emotions of the characters were easy to relate to as the characters were well-defined and voiced, a nice addition to this novella.

Anna @ Book Lovin’ Mamas: …The chemistry between Araya and Kean was smokin' hot and they were great individual characters too. And I LOVE the sister and Mom. They were quite entertaining! … Overall this was a great read! Lots of fun and very very sexy! I can't wait to read something else from this author and I will be impatiently waiting for more! ;)
Diana @ Offbeat Vagabond …Goodness gracious, this book should come with a warning. I swear even my ereader was heating up while reading this and it wasn't even plugged in. I enjoyed the hell out of this. I think if you are like me and you are a fan of Larissa Ione's books, you will love this. This was a super sexy read that will heat you up from head to toe.

Next Up... Melissa Hosack and her yummy romance, Stupid Cupid!!

Turning thirty is a depressing affair for Lincoln Belmonte. Thirty wouldn’t seem quite so bad if she wasn’t single, lonely, and a world away from her projected plans. She’d expected to have a husband and children at this point in her life. Instead, she spends her evenings in solitude. Staring down at the burning candles on her birthday cake, Lincoln makes the wish to be able to tell off Cupid. She wants answers from the man who has caused her to be jilted in love time and time again. Feeling better after her silly wish, she puts it to the back of her mind. The next morning, Lincoln wakes up in an unfamiliar house in an unfamiliar bed. A little birthday magic saw it fit to bring her together with the man responsible for all of her problems.  She is rewarded with the chance to take out her frustrations on Valentine’s holiday figurehead—Cupid. Only once she meets Valen, Lincoln can’t decide if she wants to give him a piece of her mind or seduce him.
As she approached the door in front of her, Lincoln heard the unmistakable sound of a kitchen. Whoever was on the other side of the door was cooking and seemingly having a really good time of it.A male voice belted an oldies tune accompanied by the clang of pots and pans.In disbelief, she pushed open the kitchen door and tiptoed inside. The man whose tenor filled the room had his back to her, but he was good looking even from this angle. His shoulders rippled with muscles beneath a fitted black t-shirt. His jeans were so tight, it was impossible not to stare at his backside. He had a gorgeous mane of shoulder length blond hair pulled back into a ponytail.Lincoln stared transfixed. Her kidnapper was not only rich, but he was better looking than her original guess of Brad Pitt. As confusion whirled through her mind, the man finally turned around, drawing a gasp from her throat.Violet eyes dominated a masculine face. His cheekbones were high, his jaw sharp and prominent. And he looked completely pissed off at her presence. “Vandal!” he accused loudly.“Kidnapper!” Lincoln shot back.“No good, thieving…what?” He’d been stomping in her direction with ill intent when her accusation seemed to sink in.“No good, kidnapping…stud.” She blinked at her choice of description.
“Kidnapping stud?” the man roared in incredulity. “I didn’t kidnap you!”“Then why am I here?”He gave a derisive snort. “You tell me, honey. I have no idea.”Lincoln frowned at that. As much as she wanted to peg him as the bad guy, it didn’t make much sense for him to kidnap her. He was obviously wealthy, and he was extremely good looking. Why would he need to kidnap a thirty-year-old bachelorette?
Apparently sensing her confusion, the man let out his breath in a put upon sigh. “What’s the last thing you remember?”“The last thing I remember is going to sleep,” Lincoln said slowly, “in my own bed.” There was a bit of sting to the second half of her sentence. As unlikely of a kidnapper as he was, she still found it hard to believe she could have wound up here without his interference. Mr. Yummy turned his back on her and returned to his cooking. “Did anything unusual happen last night?”At his unthreatening demeanor, Lincoln shrugged and slid into a seat at the kitchen table. “Not really. I went out with a few friends to celebrate my birthday.”“Were you drunk?” He reached above his head into a cabinet to pull down two plates. She gave him a sour look. “I’m thirty, not twenty-one. I had cake. Period.”“No ice cream?” he asked with surprise.“No.” She gave him a peculiar look behind his back. “For your information, I don’t really care for ice cream.”“Then you’re not eating it right.”Lincoln gave him a dirty look but chose not to comment. The man turned from the stove with two plates of food in his hands. Making his way over, he placed one in front of her before sliding into the seat across the table.“What did you wish for?”“I beg your pardon?”“You said you had cake. I’m assuming there were candles and singing as well. What did you wish for?” He arched a brow in question and held a fork out to her.“That is none of your business. A wish is personal.” Despite her defensive comment and haughty tone, she snatched the fork from him.“Come on,” he wheedled as he shoveled a forkful of scrambled eggs into his mouth. “A wish can be a very powerful thing. Let me hear it.”Lincoln lifted a slice of bacon from her plate and stared at him over it. “Oh, all right,” she finally said with a huff. “I wished I could meet Cupid, so I could tell him what a jerk he is to his face.” She rolled her eyes with a snort. “I wanted to tell him off.”He was suddenly choking on his food. He grabbed for the carton of orange juice in the center of the table and downed half of it in three long gulps. Coughing, he pounded at his chest. “That’s quite the wish,” he finally managed to wheeze out.

This week we're dragging some of those forgotten books out of the darkness and giving them a moment in the sun!!
I hope you'll return each day for a special treat from some wonderful authors who hope you'll enjoy the books they've chosen to spotlight.
Some books might be familiar, but some might be never before morsels you missed the first time around!! You never know what you'll find during this blast from the past book week!!

FIRST UP... Beth D. Carter with her yummy story from Evernight, When Lightning Strikes!!

Hello!  Thank you so much for having me on your site today!  When Lightning Strikes has been one of my favorite stories I’ve ever written (so far!).  It’s a time travel where the heroine comes forward to our time from 1794.  I did a lot of research for this story, as well as paying tribute to some of my own ancestors. The heroine’s name is Henrietta Lydia Knapp and Knapp is a family name with a long history.  My sixth great-grandmother, Lydia Knapp, had a prestigious family tree, linked back to Katherine Cromwell, the Tudor line, and Charles VI (the Mad King of France), whose own lineage was deeply engraved on England and France’s bloody history.  Lydia Knapp’s grandfather came to Massachusetts in the 1600’s, making him one of the first people to settle the untamed new world.  Genealogy is truly amazing and humbling at the same time.It was so interesting researching certain facts from Colonial America.  One of the most interesting was The Flowing Hair dollar mentioned in When Lightning Strikes .  It was designed by Robert Scot and on January 24, 2013, a specimen striking from the 1794 production sold for $10,016,875, the highest price ever paid for a coin.  Wouldn’t that be a true pleasure to find in the attic!
Micah John drifts through life relying on his ability to count cards in the seedy underbelly of Las Vegas.  One bad turn has him owing a hundred thousand to an unscrupulous loan shark, with only a week to come up with the cash.  He doesn’t have time for much of anything, except working and worrying. He sure the hell doesn’t have time for a woman claiming to be from 1794.Henrietta Knapp is trying to wrap her brain around the fact that she’s out of her time.  A bolt of lightning has brought her more than two hundred twenty years forward.  Why? She doesn’t know. Not until Micah John appears. As mistrust and fear drain away, Micah John and Etta find a love that outshines the bad and the ugly.  But will they be given the chance to hold onto a happy ever after, or will the lightning strike again?
EXCERPT: (rated PG)
He stopped in front of a popular clothing store. Mannequins modeled cute little outfits and Micah John looked expectantly at her.“What do you think?”She looked from him to the window and back again. “What do I think about what?”“The clothes.” He liked the Capri pants and thought they would nicely show off her cute ass. Of course, he would never tell her that. Her mouth dropped open a little. “You said my brain couldn’t wrap about the facts of technology, but truthfully I can’t understand how women can wear so little.”He laughed. “This is nothing. You should go to The French Riviera where you can to go topless on some of the beaches.”“You’re lying,” she accused.Micah John shook his head and held up his right hand. “Scout’s honor.”“Oh, my,” she said and looked back at the clothes being modeled. “Robert Burton wrote in his book The Anatomy of Melancholy, ‘When they are at Rome, they do there as they see done, puritans with puritans, papists with papists’.”“Right,” he said. “We’ve shorted it to when in Rome, do as the Romans do.”“I suppose that is a more succinct way of saying it.”She looked around at all the women passing by. Shorts, miniskirts and tank tops, all exposing more skin that she’d probably ever seen. He almost felt sorry for her. “I’ve come out in public in just my dress, sans petticoats. I suppose I can acclimate to being a Twenty-first century woman.”“Atta girl.”He pulled her into the store.  BUY LINKS:

ABOUT BETH:
I like writing about the very ordinary girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate highrollers.  I try to write characters who aren't cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box.  I love writing characters who are real, complex and full of flaws, heroes and heroines who find redemption through love.

Excerpt: #NSFW 18+ erotic
She gasped as he pulled the shoulder straps of her dress down her arms and swooped on her neck to suck there.    Rupert tasted her blood. The rush of pleasure at the metallic flavor sent ripples of sensation through his balls. He dragged the silver zipper of her dress down and stepped away.    Suzette swayed to him, already under his vampire spell. Her eyes were all pupils and her mouth shaped in a small O waiting for kisses. She shrugged her dress to the floor and stood naked before him.    Rupert swept his hands over every inch of her skin, following with kisses and small flicks of his tongue. Her skin thrilled him, especially on her inner thighs, as he tasted the cream slipping there from her soaking wet pussy. He shed his clothes easily in a second of vampire speed. He lifted her again and laid her on the stack. He kissed her lips, cupping her face in his hands and slowly thrusting his huge cock against her stomach.     She sighed, murmured, groaned, and held him around the hips, pulling him against her.    Rupert pushed her legs apart as he positioned his knee to slip against the moisture between her legs. He kissed her all the way down her neck and back up to her lips, whispering sweet things to her. He waited until she’d ground her pussy against his knee and then he thrust two fingers up into her tight slick channel.     Her moan wet his mouth as he hovered near her lips and pumped his fingers in her pussy. Sensations burned over him. His cock throbbed. His thighs weakened. His skin tingled as spikes of raw sexual desire ran over his highly sensitive body. Rupert moved his fingers from her pussy and dragged her legs further apart. He lifted her under the ass. His mouth watered to taste her cream and he bent his head. As he sucked on her clit, her moans sounded in his ears and he soaked up the pleasure in the tone. He nipped at her clit, lapped at her folds, bit at her inner thighs, and then as she groaned and writhed beneath his face, he pushed two fingers into her pussy to find the spot his years of practice told him would bring her great pleasure. He stroked there as he lapped at her clit and savored the scent of her sex drifting onto his face. Suzette came with a cry. She thrust down on his fingers and grabbed at his hair to hold him in place.

Featuring Rumpled Between the Sheets by Kastil Evenshade #EvernightPub #BDSM

Welcome back, my lovelies.Today’s guest is new to Sealed with a Kiss and it's a pleasure to have her here. Help me welcome Kastil Evenshade as she shares a little about her latest release. She's even brought something for us to nibble on from Rumpled Between the Sheets!! YUM!! Kastil, take it away…
I must admit, I can't help myself. Evernight Publishing's Naughty Fairy Tale line is my favorite thing to write. I had the honor of having the first one with The Wolves of Argonne and I haven't looked back. Unlike the first two, however, Witches & Lycans and Rumpled Between the Sheets are contemporaries with a little bit of an urban fantasy twist though the latter isn't quite as prevalent. The female lead, Mary, dreams of something more than what a small, mountain-town full of secrets has to offer. Unfortunately for her, you can take the girl out of the backwoods, but not the backwoods out of the girl. What inspired me for her is we all have these dreams of what we want to be in our lives. We work so hard to achieve that goal only to find that we've been chasing the wrong path. Fate has a way of twisting us in the right direction, and for Mary, she finds what was missing.
Some want to find love at all costs. Some believe there is a cost to find love.
When Mary Becken’s mother passes away, she takes over her exclusive tailoring business. Not satisfied with the fabrics available, she unearths her mother’s loom and creates a new textile by weaving thin strands of gold. Soon her small mountain town of Beowulf Hollow is swarming with new customers and invitations come pouring in for New York Press Week.Benjamin Elstiltzkin is downright ruthless when it comes to his fashion business, and no small town upstart is going to dethrone him as king of the fashion world. When he hatches a plan to force Miss Becken to work for him exclusively, the one thing he doesn't expect is the temptation she poses to his never-ending bachelorhood. With a deadline looming to gather his collection, Benjamin might have met his match in more ways than one.
Excerpt:Benjamin leaned against the elevator. His grimace pleased her. He obviously hated her choice of clothing."All the clothes I have for you and this is what you go with?" He flailed his fingers up and down her body."You'll excuse me if I don't believe fuck-me pumps like Ginger there is sporting are practical for being on your feet most of the day."He got closer to her. "You could always be on your back instead.""Uh, personal space?" She jabbed a finger into his stomach. Rock hard abs greeted her unpolished nail.He backed off. "Of course." The elevator opened. "After you."She rolled her eyes, a vain attempt not to fall for his arrogant charms. Mary hated men who were so forward. She’d been visually undressed by every man she came across in New York, and now here she was again with the same thing happening. Did it matter that he didn't follow through on his innuendos? Or that he turned her legs to jelly when she locked onto his intense gray eyes? They rode down in silence. She secretly snuck candid looks at him. His hand was in his pocket, making the jacket he wore ride up enough to reveal his taut buttocks. She feigned pushing her hair behind her ears when he glanced back. Ginger was her buffer. Without the woman riding along…"Damn it," she muttered. Benjamin should infuriate her yet the hum between her thighs craved his attention."A problem, Miss Becken?" Benjamin turned to her outburst. She cleared her throat. "Nothing. I just remembered my favorite scissors are probably back at the shop.""I'm sure Miss Govern grabbed everything, per my direction." He moved to the front of the elevator. "Welcome to your new workroom."The shiny metal doors parted and Mary had to contain her enthusiasm. While she loved her small workroom, Benjamin's was ten times bigger than her whole shop. In the corner, looking drab against the white walls and tables, stood her favorite dress form. Her unfinished blue dress still adorned it."Miss Govern, large coffee and an egg salad sandwich on rye." He snapped his fingers and shooed her with a flick of his wrist."And Miss Becken?""I'm not hungry, but some herbal tea would be great." She picked through her fabrics, trying to ignore Benjamin."On your way, Miss Govern."Ginger paused, pursing her lips, before she hurried out of the room back to the elevator.Mary snorted, not surprised by his crass behavior toward his employee. Maybe Ginger did mean to give him some competition. She walked past his highness and sat down in the corner area where the bulk of her materials were placed. On the table lay a hefty stack of papers. Her contract.Leafing through the pages, she stifled a laugh. "You can't be serious. Fifty pages?" She pushed it away."Well, we could come to some other agreement." He sat on the edge of the table, clasping his hands together."Yeah. You could design your own collection and I could do mine and may the best person win." She crossed her arms."If your fashion sense is anything like how you've dressed today, you haven't a prayer without my guidance.""Well, they're your designs, so obviously you don't know how to make a cohesive collection." She plucked at the top. "Tacky.""Have it your way." He dug in his jacket and pulled out a check, placing in front of her. "For the materials you handmade for my use and enough for a ticket home.""I didn't make this for you." She ripped up the check, throwing the confetti in his face. "I made it for me.""Did I mention a sizeable sum has already gone into your bank account back in Bumfuck Hollow?" He shoved the contract her way. "I suggest you sit that pretty little ass of yours down and get reading. You do know how to read, right?""Fuck you, you arrogant bastard."He rounded on her and grabbed her by the waist. Her bottom hit the table and he positioned himself between her legs. "Is that what you want?""Wh-what?" She gasped as he bent her back, his body pressed against her. His hardness nestled between her legs and his hot breath teased her earlobe."I am willing to change the contract, Miss Becken, if you wish to be paid in another way." He pushed her closer to his hard on. "You keep saying those words and that has me wondering something. What if I was to clip the buttons of this blouse off with my teeth one by one? Would you stop me or beg for me to continue?"Beg. Definitely beg. "I—I—"

Featuring Emma Anderson's new release, Devil Takes His Innocent #EvernightPub #ParanormalRomance

Welcome back!!      Evernight Publishing has a sizzling new author, Emma Anderson -- and guess what? We have her in the hot seat today, sharing a little about herself and her latest release, Devil Takes His Innocent.     I won’t keep you all waiting, so Emma, take it away…
A little about myself      One day my prince charming came along. He just took a wrong turn, got lost, and was too stubborn to ask for directions. Well that was how my first date ended up with a special man, who is now my husband. Yes, you read correctly, I married him and haven’t regretted a minute. Thirteen years later, I have two wonderful boys (three if you include hubby, which I often do) and I’m following my dreams of writing romance books with HEAs, thanks to my supportive family.     I started writing several years ago. Mainly children’s books for my boys. Those will probably never get published. Then to quote Martin Luther King, “I had a dream!” As a rule I never remember my dreams, but this one I did, and I wrote it down. And the rest as they say is history. I currently have five books published and another due out in the next couple of weeks. At this stage they are all paranormal. What can I say? I love the big predatory mythological creatures so to offer them their own happy ever after was the least I can do.

Devil Torments is a vampire living in a world where one man’s weakness paves the way for another man’s gain. When a gambling addict offers his daughter as payment for his debt, Devil accepts. Sex without strings is exactly the way he likes it.      Love is a concept for fools, the ultimate weakness. Little does he know, he’s about to meet his mate…

In order to protect her best friend, nurse Gabby Winters must bow to her abusive father’s demands and offer her innocence to a stranger. She never expected to feel anything, let alone find herself irrevocably tied to the man. But can Gabby learn to accept that Devil’s scars run deep, and the love she’s spent her life secretly yearning for is forever out of reach?      If Devil thought that keeping Gabby at arm’s length would keep either of them safe, he was dead wrong. When danger lands at Gabby’s feet, it’s up to Devil to pick up the pieces. Will he come to realize that love isn’t a weakness and Gabby is his greatest strength, before it’s too late? Or will he lose the most precious gift of all?

Excerpt      “What the fuck!” Devil shouted once the woman had left the office. To say he was furious would have been an understatement. Murderous thoughts ran wild through his mind.     “Who the hell told you she was a call girl?”     “I’ll give you one guess.”     “That asshole Harrison.”      Devil picked up the photo Jeffrey Harrison had given him. Only this time, his eyes saw something they had failed to earlier. The picture depicted the same woman from tonight minus the makeup. Her beauty and innocence shone through. How could he have missed it?      His murderous thoughts changed slightly. Instead of just killing Jeffrey Harrison, he planned on torturing the asshole first. What kind of father would sell their innocent daughter to pay off his gambling debts? No matter what sins he had committed, and the list was long, Devil knew that he would never contemplate such a thing. Yes, Jeffrey Harrison would pay for his crimes, and        Devil would be the judge, jury, and executioner.     Though Devil had to concede that Jeffrey Harrison wasn’t the only one responsible for what had happened tonight. Devil had been just as responsible.      He had been so wound up lately, that he hadn’t taken the time to appreciate this beautiful woman for what she was. Had he done so, he no doubt would have recognized the signs of inexperience and sent her away before he ruined her. Or at least recognized what she wasn’t, a call girl. He too needed to make amends, only it was for his stupidity and impatience.     As soon as he had seen the woman, he had become hard. It had been a long time since his cock had appreciated a woman so instantly. Her curves were on display in that tight little dress she wore. He’d dragged her into his hotel room, desperate to hide her amazing body from passersby. He wanted to be the only one to view such a delicious sight. She reminded him of the women from his youth. They enjoyed their food too much to worry about what they looked like. He rued the day that body image became an important factor in a woman’s life. Now, the first woman to pique his interest in a long time, and look at the way he had treated her. It was an error he would make amends for, but first he needed more information.     “I say you get that fucker on the phone and let’s hear what he has to say for himself,” Viper said, his fae yellow eyes coming to the forefront, highlighting what his body language failed to. He was pissed. He was known as Viper because he struck his prey hard and fast; they never knew what hit them until it was too late.     Devil followed Viper’s advice, and a few seconds later a ringing tone could be heard through the phone’s speaker. “Hello,” came the wary greeting.     “Harrison.”     “Um, yes, Mr. Torments. Was there a problem with Gabriella?” The man’s question had Devil emitting a low, menacing growl.     “Yes there’s a problem. She’s not a call girl like you insinuated.”      “Um, yes, well,” the man muttered down the phone.     “What did you tell her to get her here?” Devil demanded.      “The truth! It’s not like she’s innocent,” the man scoffed.     “What the hell did she ever do to you to gain such disregard?” Devil asked, furious at this man’s attitude toward Gabriella.     “She existed,” the man replied with venom in his voice. “Do you have any idea how difficult she made my life once my wife found out about her? Her presence all but killed my wife.”     Hearing enough of this man’s viciousness, Devil stated, in a voice that left no room for argument, “Tell me everything you know about her! Then you will stay out of her life. You will have to clear your debt with us without using your daughter any further. Do I make myself understood?”     The truth was, the money meant very little to him at the moment. Revenge was the only course of action in Devil’s mind. By the end of the phone call, he had this guy’s slow death all planned out. But first he needed to make things right with Gabriella. She deserved nothing less, and so much more.

Hi everyone! Can anyone say comfort food? Before all hell broke loose in Breaking All Barriers, Vince had planned to cook his famous chili for his best friend, Dina, her love interest Cole, and Dina’s roommate, Monique. They planned to eat chili and watch movies while they waited out the storm hitting New York City. Eh, sometimes things don’t go according to plan, but here’s the recipe for you to enjoy! Two Beer Chili
Ingredients:2-4 tablespoons vegetable oil3 pounds boneless beef chuck, cubed2 large onions3 green peppers2 teaspoons of moist garlic3 28 oz cans of tomatoes-diced or whole2 cubes of beef bouillon1 large can of red kidney beansA dash of SaltA couple shakes of pepper1/3 cup chili powder½-1 teaspoon of granulated garlicJalapenos-the number depending on how hot you like it.Thickening—either flour or cornstarch—*always mix with water before adding to soup. Otherwise, the broth will turn out lumpy.
Directions:
In a large pot, brown the cubed beef in vegetable oil over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of moist garlic. Once done, transfer meat to a plate.
Add more oil to the pot, if necessary. Add the chopped onions and peppers. Add another teaspoon of garlic. Cook until the onions are golden and the peppers are tender.
Once done, add tomatoes with juices, chili powder, kidney beans-no need to drain, jalapenos, and return the beef back to the pot. Add salt and pepper and thicken the broth a little with either flour or cornstarch—*check the note above. Drop the beef bouillon into the pot.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, partially covered for 2-4 hours. Stir often, making sure you’re mixing the ingredient off the bottom of the pot so nothing sticks.
I test taste the chili in about an hour and add more salt, pepper, garlic, or chili powder according to your taste.
Toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream or macaroni elbows.
Years ago, my then boyfriend—now husband—would make the chili extremely hot. It took me two beers to get through one bowl, hence the name Two Beer Chili.
Below are a couple of excerpts from Breaking All Barriers, stuff about me J, and a raffle!
Hope you enjoy!
~Cait
Excerpt 1:The elevator dinged and the doors parted.Champagne hair filled Cole’s vision. A sultry smile stretched across Dina’s face. She came back. The implications of what her actions meant expanded his heart and had him wanting to dance a jig. He lifted off the wall. “Di…” Unexpectedly, his throat clogged with emotion. He cleared it and tried again. “Dina.” Smoldering violet eyes seized his gaze while her tongue moistened her lips, the act drawing him, torturing him. “Follow me.” Her sultry voice ran over him like a warm tropical night as she headed toward her apartment at the end of the hall.
Excerpt 2:The doorknob twisted easily under Cole’s hand and he peeked inside.Dina reclined against the back of the tub as if asleep. He thought about leaving to give her privacy, but he had the niggling sense something was off. Kneeling on the floor beside her, he set the glasses and beads on the floor. “Dina,” he said, lightly caressing two fingers to her arm. “Sweetheart.”The stillness and paleness of her body sent a panic through him comparable to a blazing fire. “Dina, wake up!” He didn’t raise his voice but spoke stern and loud enough to get some sort of reaction. Still, she lay in the tub of hot water comatose. With each passing second, his thoughts worsened to the unthinkable. Pressing two fingers to the pulse point in her neck, he held his breath. She jolted awake, backhanding his arm. Her other hand hit her chest. Water splashed over the sides of the tub. A long moment passed before her eyes focused on him. “Geez, Cole,” she gasped. “You scared the hell out of me!”Relief washed over him in waves, knocking him onto his butt. He chuckled, the laughter rolling out of him in such a way he couldn’t control.
About me:A little about myself, I married my best friend years ago. We have three beautiful daughters, ranging in ages from 16-22. I love the country, love land around me, and love a glass of wine. I started writing five years ago, not long after I lost my mother to cancer. Before then, I only read for information. I picked up a book to read for leisure, only to fall asleep. Having active children could do that to a person. When my mom died a month after her diagnoses from the dreaded Cword, I felt differently. With the ‘year of first’ behind me, I wanted a way to feel closer to her, so I picked up her favorite pastime—reading! I consumed books. A year after that, I started writing. The journey has been exciting, depressing, and eventful. I’ve met amazing writers, made wonderful friends, and hope to meet and make plenty more.

The Fox and the Hound by M. Levesque #EvernightPub #RomanticHumor

Welcome back!! We have a new guest joining us today and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have her here!! Sit back, get comfortable and let’s meet M. Levesque as she shares a little yumminess from her new release, The Fox and the Hound! Take it away, M. …
The Fox and the Hound is book two in my Bailout Series. In book one, Backwoods Bailout, the main character Lacy was swindled into buying a house that technically didn’t belong to the person selling it. As we come to find out, the person who sold it to her was leading man, Marcus’ ex-girlfriend, Holly. It was a bitter break-up, what can I say? Anyway, Holly rights her wrongs before heading into the sunset…but it seems she’s been too lucky for too long and Karma has come a knockin’ in the form of Peyton Shepherd. This is their story…

Holly is just restarting her retirement from a life of white collar crime when an old friend finds his way back to her. Peyton Shepherd, AKA The Reaper, is the bad guys’ number one retrieval expert when they are looking for someone, and right now they’re looking for Holly.
She usually doesn’t worry about these guys because she can con her way out of pretty much anything but Peyton has apprehended her before. This time he is a little more motivated to bring her in because the last time she left him handcuffed naked to a headboard, borrowed his identity, and stole his favorite car. Holly didn’t think a year was long enough for him to forgive and forget but if he did finish the job, she knew it wasn’t a meeting she’d walk away from.

Excerpt:
I found Peyton sitting at the small desk. He curled his finger at me and I made my way across the carpet, wearing the bathrobe provided with the room. When I stopped directly in front of him, he was staring up at me. “What?” “I’m sorry I said those things to you.” “I know you might not think very highly of me, Peyton, but…”“I didn’t like the fact that you…were with Marcus,” he finished. “I shouldn’t have said that to you. It wasn’t fair.”  Why did he even care that I had been with Marcus?“If it makes you feel any better, I screwed that one up, royally,” I said honestly. “You didn’t screw it up. You were just trying to protect him. He’s a nice guy. He’s not like us.”  I shrugged and looked away, but immediately felt his hand snake its way between the folds of the robe and come to rest on the bare skin of my side. I looked down at him, but when I didn’t move away, he pulled me closer so that I was standing between his knees. He tugged gently on the robe and it fell onto the floor with a whispering of fabric across skin. He seemed to be memorizing every inch of me, and just that was the sexiest thing I’d ever watched a man do. He urged me forward again, bringing his face even with my breast before nipping me gently, his eyes rolling up to meet mine, as if asking permission to continue. I reached out and ran my fingers through his hair. I lowered my mouth down to his and he immediately stood up, carrying me with him to the bed. Still clothed, he lowered himself between my legs and, from the feel of things, he enjoyed being there, very much.“We shouldn’t be doing this.” I whispered.  “You’re right,” he answered, pulling his shirt off and lowering himself back down until we were pressed warm skin to warm skin. He bit my earlobe and I completely forgot why I was supposed to be stopping him. He curled an arm around my waist and pulled me tighter against him with a happy growl and more kisses. In truth, I didn’t have the will power to stop him. After the daily regret of leaving my needs unmet the last time, I didn’t want to stop him again. My breath caught in my throat when he rolled me over. He placed tickling kisses from the back of my neck down the length of my back, following the feminine curve of my spine. He got to my ass and bit me hard enough to send a shock through my entire body. He growled out his satisfaction and trailed one of his hands up between my thighs, tickling his fingers over the sensitive skin there for a moment before easing me onto my back again. He stood over me, looking both dangerous and completely captivated by me. I wasn’t sure I’d ever been looked at by a man like this before. He slowly removed his clothes, taking his sweet time and driving me nuts.I whimpered as he removed his boxer briefs. He smiled at me before lowering himself onto the bed, his body covering my own. “What’s your hurry?” he teased, rubbing his nose along the length of my jaw. “I know you’re a thief, baby, but I have to teach you the difference between instant gratification and real satisfaction.”
