R.C. Berry was born in Baltimore, Maryland to a hard-working single mother who encouraged her to take her education seriously. English quickly became her favorite subject; As her love for reading grew, so did her interest in writing.

R.C. began writing poetry and short stories, but was encouraged to expand. Along with her best friend, May Torres, she began writing in earnest. Five months later, she completed her first novel and has since published 3 additional books ranging over a variety of genres. She has a love for complex characters and stories with depth.

Most of the time, when I encounter writer's block, it's not a lack of inspiration, or a lack of words. It's my fear of telling my 100% truth; fear of how it will be received, fear of whether or not the book will "do well".

That's not my responsibility. There's a story in me, and my only duty is to get it out, in all of its authentic glory.(less)

I am the gatekeeper to beauty and pain and joy and fear and adventure and sadness and love and riches ... and an infinite number of combinations. There's something really great about simultaneously realizing that you're really unique, but also that you have so much in common with the rest of the world.(less)
